HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES’ BRAND NEW SINGLE “THE BOOGIEMAN SURPRISE” - OUT NOW
Fresh off a triumphant seven-city North America tour this week, which included a stop at the famous Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Vampires have unveiled the brand new song “The Boogieman Surprise.” At the aforementioned L.A. performance, Steven Tyler, the Aerosmith frontman and long-time musical partner of Joe Perry, turned up for a guest appearance, as did Marilyn Manson. Johnny Depp took lead vocals on Bowie’s “Heroes” and the “world’s most expensive bar band,” as proclaimed by Alice Cooper, delivered a live master class of rock ‘n’ roll, which included their newest track “The Boogieman Surprise.”
The song has been part of the band’s live set since the 2018 world tour and is a highlight of every Hollywood Vampires live show. Written by the band, it features the undeniable chemistry between rock and roll royalty Perry, Hollywood superstar Depp and shock rock icon Cooper. A laid back groove, grinding guitars, and smooth strings create an epic, ominous, outsider anthem with Cooper’s vocal sounding as fierce as ever. Their stage telepathy is showcased in the accompanying live video, filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2018.
“Rise”, the band’s 2nd album, is some of the purest, unapologetic and most enjoyable rock and roll of the year, made by masters of the craft and true fans of the form.
Unlike their 2015 debut record, the new album “Rise” consists mainly of original material, written by the band. There are however, in the spirit of the Vampires’ original mission, three covers of songs originally written and recorded by some fellow rockers who died far too young: an intimate and intense version of David Bowie’s “Heroes”, again beautifully performed on record by Johnny Depp; the late Jim Carroll Band’s “People Who Died,” and Johnny Thunder’s “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory,” sung by Joe Perry.
Produced by Tommy Henriksen and the Hollywood Vampires, “Rise” is set to the most anticipated rock albums of 2019 will be released on June 21st, 2019 on earMUSIC as CD Digipak, 2LP+Download and Digital.

LOL... well, I think there's a middle-ground here. Depp _is_ a bit of a lunatic. But if he can stand up there and play rock 'n' roll, that's good enough for me.
I don't think it has anything to do with jealousy or being bitter. You don't see these comments with Jeff Bridges or Jared Leto, here it's because you have a guy who can't play the guitar to save his life but has the "look" and "strut" (way over the top), it looks like a cheap act and it's cringeworthy. Now I like Depp, but this ain't it. If he was really that much into music he would at least practice, maybe form his own band and tour properly, get the necessary experience. Now he just looks like a prop, a parody of a rocker who goes through the motions but has no substance.

Half of the time it looks like he's not even playing, just swaggering around strumming half heartedly, and the few times when he's done a solo it hasn't gone too well, check his solo in a cover of Whole Lotta Love, ear shattering stuff. He would be fine around a camp fire though:)

I was at this concert. Everyone was amazing Alice sounded great and when Steven Tyler came out to sing Train Kept A Rollin it was the best surprise ever. I love this band and can not wait for the new album.
You KNOW there will be a video release of this show. They didn't set up all those pro shot cameras just to record this one video.

There's a lot going on here, but as someone who has played in a band with multiple guitarists I can hear how they make it work when my band just couldn't. What happens a lot of the time is that the 2 or more guitars are fighting each other for control of the same frequency range. But here what they are doing is each guitar is playing in a different register and slightly different rhythm. Then factor in the differences between the pickups in each and how they use slightly different effects to seperate out the parts while still being similar enough to be cohesive. Its a thin line but they manage it.
So instead of competing what they are doing is accentuating and harmonising.
Yes this was quite a long ramble but I've seen people complaining about there being 3 guitars and saying that's too much. It's only too much if you don't undersyand it or know how to do it properly. Or maybe it's just not your thing. But hey, just thought I'd share my 2 pence.

Amazing the art that can be produced with brothers stepping up to help one another. Hollywood Vampires indeed. All of these brothers in arms (guitars) can relate one way or the other. Living in Hollywood back in the mid 70's, we used the term to signify spiritual leech's in the natural. Vying for control. Great suff guys. This Old timer here just happened to catch a quick clip. Da. i heard loud and clear. Life is a gift and it is wonderful watching all of you dance to your tune and not someone elses .
