      Normally I’m a neat whisk(e)y guy, but your cider sounds like it would be particularly good if I’m feeling a bit cheeky early afternoon on Christmas! They all sound great though! :)

      I had forgotten about Tom and Jerry. All the bakeries in the area start to sell Tom and Jerry batter at the beginning of December; my parents always had batter in the fridge for drop ins.

    As a Finn, I absolutely love how you guys wrote it "Glögi" as we do it too. Pronounciation-wise? I'll let it slide :D Vodka is also a very good choice in Glögi because of its neutral taste so it literally just enhances the flavors of everything else! Excelsior! Moreover, I didn't know this channel has turned into a cooking show!

    • @gradgeri8581
      @gradgeri8581 4 роки тому +1

      Another Finn here. I would like to add that traditional "Glögi" doesn't have almonds nor raisins in the base mix and they can be added later to your glass of Glögi. All the spices shown here are fine though but I would add a few as well. Glögi can be alcoholic or alcohol free, usually the latter and in this case you can add the spirit you like later, e.g. vodka, rum, etc. Keep up the good work with the new Bonneville hideout as ending note here!👍🏻

    Glögi is the Finnish way of writing it I think, and in Swedish we write glögg. Your pronunciation was good though!!
    Actually it is pretty rare these days for people to make their own glögg from scratch like you did in this video. The beverage can be bought bottled, just requiring heating before consumption.

    Gløgg seems very similar to a cocktail we have in Brazil called "Quentão" or Brazilian mulled wine, but in instead of vodka we use of course cachaça. No almonds, no raisins, but we add some ginger. The rest is pretty much the same :D (we also skip that 24h infusion and just go straight to simmering)

    Spot on with the pronounciation of Gløgg. Usually we spike it up with Rum instead of vodka here in Denmark, but that's probably a newer addition. No clue if it's the same in the countries of our nordic brothers? (Someone from Norway or Sweden tell me what you do with your gløgg?)

    Small correction, the Harrison who was the president who died one month into his term was William Henry Harrison whereas you used a picture of Benjamin Harrison, who was the president who served between the two non-consecutive terms of Grover Cleveland and did not die in office.

      @@bondrinks The fault is probably with the narration, actually. Benjamin Harrison was the one who was a high profile politician around the time the drink would have been invented, and he was often ridiculed for his honorary promotion to general (he never served as a general, but the Senate gave him the rank after the Civil War ended).

    do you suppose the tom and jerry would be better with milk as opposed to water? Edit: The answer is YES! Just tried it with a 2:1 ratio of milk to black beer and melted a little butter into it. Also, added a little more batter on top after stirring. Just made a new family traditional drink for us! Its so rich and creamy.
