Weidman knew he poked the guy in his eyes, yet still went for the finish instead of acknowledgment to the ref. He should have been penalized for it. A fence grab carries a higher penalty than several eye pokes.
Thats a problem.. First eyepoke -1 point, second eyepoke 20k fine.. problem solved..
How's about we blame who really should have the blame...The Coaching staff. The same offenders keep doing it. Why? Because they do it in practice and their coaches dont call them out for it. They stick their fingers out in practice and the coaches dont correct them and KEEP correcting them. So they do it in fights. When the ref says to stop they dont. Because they are training like this.

98% of fights have no eye pokes. But then you see fighters fighting with their arms and fingers extended and it’s no coincidence that there ends up being eye pokes in those fights. Gloves aren’t to blame

Only he did do a job on Silva who was on his way to a loss and the one whining his ass off. It was the ref’s fault for not stepping in and deducting a point. And IF he did lose a point and possibly that round, Weidman still goes in to take the decision.

Weidman deliberately poked him in the eye, and the final decision was a shocker. The UFC must come down hard on eye poking they are promoting it by giving Weidman a win. Puts a dark cloud over UFC judging, controversial judging happening too often.
Chris Weidman can say "Eye pokes are unintentional." but, the ref told him repeatedly to stop holding his fingers out and Chris just ignored it. That being said, why would you fall to ground and curl up in an ass ball from an eye poke? Especially when you get up and you're not even blinking. Pain from eye pokes makes it damn near impossible to open your eye for at least a few seconds. Still, there was another (3rd) eye poke so, at the very least, Chris should lose a point.

When someone keeps countering you, time to make them come to you instead of rushing them. And then, you time them coming in and rush after their forward momentum starts.
Blanchfield did NOTHING but the same thing non stop. Frustrating because I have watched her adapt in the past.
@@michaelleinbach6249 You are absolutely right. She literally ran head first into a jab 20 times a round for 5 rounds. Maybe she could have hung back and countered but that's not her game. I think this time she was just so outsized (outsized is one thing, outsized against someone with a similar skill level is another) it didn't matter what she did. Blanchfield is 100% small enough (and it's not like she's shredded) to make 115 but she'll never be big enough to take out someone like Fiorot. Honestly, I think @ 115 she can take out anyone. BTW, the only reason I watched that fight with any kind of excitement was because I'm a fan of Blanchfield but, Fiorot fighting at 135 would be the same as Blanchfield fighting @ 125. Sooner or later someone is just flat out going to be too big.

Wideman went straight back to his extended fingers and his arm sticking straight out immediately after the second eye poke and warning. I get it you use the arm for deflection and range but come on his fingers were continously sticking straight out.

I've watched a ton of mma fights over the years! And I've come to the conclusion that 90% of the eye pokes are definitely done intentionally! It's just a dirty way of getting the upper hand in a fight! Personally I think it's despicable and cowardly! And the only reason Dana hasn't approved a redesign of the gloves, is strictly because of money!

Weidman eye poked him twice and tries to play stupid. He comes off looking like a scumbag, two eyepokes in succession should be a dq. There is way a one two pokes in the eyes like that is accidental.
