Wayyyyyy too much illiteracy is being displayed in these comments for me to handle. Ken Jeong is funny! Regardless of where he is from and if they like him there. I'm African, does wearing western clothes, speaking English and living a western life make me a sell out? No. The life you choose to live is irrespective of where u come from. Unless you are paying his bills and u are his source of livelihood I strongly suggest u stop criticizing what he does and how he does it.

If you don't agree, then I suggest you should really re-read what you send to people because not only did you make a lot of errors in your comment grammar wise, you made your self look like an idiot trying to correct someone who uses text slang. If it's just you being a "troll" judging by your picture, you should work on that because you're the worst troll ever.
Idiot! I am currently getting one, I take etymology as my liberal.... Trust me! Irrespective is a word. It's been around since the 1800s. You just displayed the quality of your education. It's obviously equivalent to staying at home and learning English off google search. Stay benighted.
boowallie You're thinking of irregardless. That is not a word. Irrespective is a word. The reason irregardless is not a word is because it's a combination of two negatives, irr- and regardless. Maybe you should take your own advice.
I am Korean. And this is really fact that Ken Jung is never famous in Korea. He lied to get famous in american using Korea. And I think he is just american. He is not Korean.
I think the main reason he isn't popular in Korea is that he doesn't speak Korean. Many people really don't like Korean-Americans that don't learn Korean. Maybe it's a unfair, but that's how it is. I'm white and living in Korea, and I'm doing my best to learn the language, but I still get some stink eye when I don't speak Korean well.
He isn't popular in Korea partly cuz he doesn't speak Korean and makes living from degrading/mocking his own race=our race(I'm Korean as well), but mostly because he ISN'T AS CUTE AS BRADLEY COOPER. lol honest answer right there.. and fyi, you get stink eye in Korea when you don't speak Korean well probably because its inconvenient and that frustrates them, not because of you. They(we)know that Korean is not an international language so we don't have that "LEARN ENGLISH!!!!" kind of attitude that SOME Americans seem to have. I hope your experience in Korea has been good for you and wish for more in the future. :)
The reason simply is that not just some Koreans but, I'm willing to bet, the majority of Koreans don't even know who he is. The Hangover movies are far from popular in Korea. And a show like Community wouldn't appeal to Koreans' tastes either. As far as degrading/mocking his own race as playdearbird points out, check out the 'Gag Concert' or 'SNL Korea' shows and compare some of their characters with characters that Ken Jeong plays or his references to Korea. Many Koreans especially love Gag Concert, young and old. Anyway, Koreans simply don't have exposure to his work.
***** It's not a matter of "not being allowed", any comedian that bases there comedy on their own racial stereotypes usually burns out quickly and is seen as "hacky" by most respected comedians and also seen as insulting by many of their own race. With white and black comedians, it's not as obvious because they don't really do fake accents as much as asian or hispanic comedians. Carlos Mencia and Dat Pham are the two names that really come to mind as primary examples of this.
playdearbird Thank you. Mostly people are very kind towards me here, and I think it is more of a convenience thing, but there is a small percentage of the population (much smaller than the US) that feel like foreigners should speak Korean if they want to live in Korea. I was told in broken English by a lady at Lotte Mart "You live in Korea, you should speak Korean".
DeeDubb1983 Koreans have a very strong sense of Nationalism, so its easy to see why he isn't popular there, given he can't speak Korean. I went to Korea once and they are a very friendly people, unlike some stereotypes you hear. Loved the experience.
Chris Rabil i pity you seriously..the world knows that you are the filthiest and nastiest human beings on earth. I'm done replying you.. you disgust me.
I highly doubt people in Korea actually said "no one likes you, I don't like you" to him -.- he probably made that up for the show, to be funny. And yes, he's not popular in Korea. Why? Well simple, the movie wasn't popular.
You people are very uneducated. There are Ethnicity and Nationality. What is a white person born in Japan? Japanese. What is a Korean person born in Africa? African. That is Nationality. Ethnicity is the type of Black, White, Asian, etc... Why is it the only thing people understand is when someone says Korean American. American Korean or African Japanese is the same thing. Maybe cause you're used to Hearing it one way, there can be no other correct way. This is why i hate people. *equally*
I mean it's expected. Ken participated in films that negatively portrays Asian men with perpetuating stereotypes. Many Asian actors and actresses try to fight off these stereotypes that the media/films try to shove it down on our throat. His choice, his loss.
Youre not wrong but he does also break into hollywood, the first asian american of his kind. I still respect him as and actor, and I still love him as an asian american.
White Americans including Conan seem to mistake/be ignorant of that Korean Americans are from the same country as they are…… Fact is South Korean nationals like BTS are from a different country from the US, which is called Republic of Korea (South). I feel bad for Asian Americans who have to put up with the differential treatment that they are not even be able to be recognized as part of the American citizenship when they are just factually not much associated with their parent’s home countries-although they may benefit from being mistaken as South Korean nationals nowadays.
I'm a Korean. I watched this youtube video and I searched his name on IMBD In his all movies, "Kung Fu Panda" is the only one I saw. Why he is not popluar in Korea? There is two reason. First, Korean rarely watch Comedy films. We have planty comedy shows on TV, though. Second, Korea is one of a few countries people watch their native movies more then hollywood's. So American comedy movies Korean rarly watches . However, I remember some Korean-relatived actors or actresses. Daniel Dae Kim from Lost Tim Kang from The Mentalist John Cho from Star Trek Grace Park from Battlestar Galactica Sandra Oh from Grey's Anatomy James Kyson from Heroes FIY, Yunjin Kim is the top class actress in Korea before Lost.
To be honest I don’t care his nationality or where he came from. All I know is that he is a devoted husband. He loves his wife and he took care of her when she had cancer and he made her laugh by his comedy so that his wife got better. So stop criticizing him.
I could NOT imagine at least South Korea not knowing you. They are very hip and into todays things compared to North Korea, of course lol..... I LOVE ME SOME KEN JEONG .... AND DEFINITELY SOME MR CHOW
@@BlackForlornRose They are drastically different. They use quite different sets of sounds, and that affect how they pronounce English. There's a video about this issue; especially on the sound of r/l in East Asian countries. ua-cam.com/video/2yzMUs3badc/v-deo.html Also, rhythm is different. Korean is syllable-timed, while Japanese is mora-timed. Spanish is another example of syllable-timed language; that's why sometimes (quite rarely actually) with very poor recordings, Spanish could be confused with Korean and vice versa. But, they are both very different to English, which is stress-timed, so for those who only know English or other stress-timed languages might think Korean and Japanese both speak English in "not a stress-timed way", but in reality, their difference is greater. And frankly I never suspected Ken Jeong being of ethnic Korean before I saw this video. For Koreans, his impressions sounds much closer to Japanese, not to mention that "Ken" sounds very Japanese.

Unless you are paying his bills and u are his source of livelihood I strongly suggest u stop criticizing what he does and how he does it.

I'm half black and I actually think you should become an NYPD cop considering you said "I hate you africans." If you don't agree, then I suggest you should really re-read what you send to people because not only did you make a lot of errors in your comment grammar wise, you made your self look like an idiot trying to correct someone who uses text slang.
If it's just you being a "troll" judging by your picture, you should work on that because you're the worst troll ever.
Irrespective is not a word... morons like you are keeping that word alive, Damn.. get an education.
I respect the hell out of this guy. Hes a comedian and a straight up doctor
I am Korean. And this is really fact that Ken Jung is never famous in Korea. He
lied to get famous in american using Korea. And I think he is just american. He is not Korean.

What is wrong with you.... just sad your attitude....
An actor that disrespects, insults and makes fun of his own people and country all the time definetly doesn't deserve any recognition.
love him or hate him, He's spittin real fax
Totally agree with that
Plus it's not even 'his country' or 'his people' right? He's American and has always been American. I don't even know if he speaks much Korean at all.
Great segment
0:57 Ken actually had runny eyes while saying no one in Korea likes him. Broke my heart :'(
These two seem like really good friends
everyone thinks he's chinese I first thought he was chinese..
Chris Rabil i pity you seriously..the world knows that you are the filthiest and nastiest human beings on earth. I'm done replying you.. you disgust me.
Chris Rabil Ha As a Chinese, I totally agree with you
That's what I thought as well! So much for stereotyping eh? =/
me too!
I highly doubt people in Korea actually said "no one likes you, I don't like you" to him -.- he probably made that up for the show, to be funny. And yes, he's not popular in Korea. Why? Well simple, the movie wasn't popular.
I like Ken!!☺️
From Korea🇰🇷
the way he speak look like he doesnt come from asian...
And where exactly is Asian? I'm not familiar with that place....
asian or asia is the continent. refer to all country in asia. I'm just discover that ken jeong is an american not korean. my bad
the way dave chapelle speaks, he doesnt come from african either
You people are very uneducated. There are Ethnicity and Nationality. What is a white person born in Japan? Japanese. What is a Korean person born in Africa? African. That is Nationality. Ethnicity is the type of Black, White, Asian, etc... Why is it the only thing people understand is when someone says Korean American. American Korean or African Japanese is the same thing. Maybe cause you're used to Hearing it one way, there can be no other correct way. This is why i hate people. *equally*
puub d No only the one guy is, the rest of us are just dicking around.
Ken Jeong and Margaret Cho should get together and have the funniest Korean baby on the planet.
Ah yes my first Conan video I ever saw
I mean it's expected.
Ken participated in films that negatively portrays Asian men with perpetuating stereotypes.
Many Asian actors and actresses try to fight off these stereotypes that the media/films try to shove it down on our throat.
His choice, his loss.
I wish you were a top comment, pinned would be best.
Ok
Wouldn't exactly call it a lost. He may not be popular in Korea but he still got his money and is richer than you'll ever be.
Youre not wrong but he does also break into hollywood, the first asian american of his kind. I still respect him as and actor, and I still love him as an asian american.
@@Ethan-mp7wr wym first Asian American of his kind
Ken Jeong from 8 years ago made me laugh harder than I have in YEARS
Amazing actor. Big fan!
BEST KOREAN ACCENT EVER!
Ken Jeong and I have the same birthday whoo!
That's okay! Ken, we love you here!
He's a doctor right?
used to be
+nms kwo I read that in an accent
White Americans including Conan seem to mistake/be ignorant of that Korean Americans are from the same country as they are…… Fact is South Korean nationals like BTS are from a different country from the US, which is called Republic of Korea (South). I feel bad for Asian Americans who have to put up with the differential treatment that they are not even be able to be recognized as part of the American citizenship when they are just factually not much associated with their parent’s home countries-although they may benefit from being mistaken as South Korean nationals nowadays.
I reconized him first time by watching this video XO
I'm a Korean.
I watched this youtube video and I searched his name on IMBD
In his all movies, "Kung Fu Panda" is the only one I saw.
Daniel Dae Kim from Lost
Tim Kang from The Mentalist
John Cho from Star Trek
Grace Park from Battlestar Galactica
Sandra Oh from Grey's Anatomy
James Kyson from Heroes
FIY, Yunjin Kim is the top class actress in Korea before Lost.
wait he is korean ? i thought he was chinese
nevermind
+아델유세푸 Chinese can be actors? that is new to me...
+아델유세푸 oh, so there's a difference?
***** why?
+아델유세푸 Just realized he is Korean. I always thought he looked South-Chinese.
I thought he was Chinese because in Hangover he was like "Right after you suck on these Chinese nuts" lmao
I have to watch this video once a year or I am gonna die.
Conan has such an evil villain laugh i love it!
I love this dude, he turns negative stereo types into his weapons. Greetings from the Philippines 😂🇵🇭👍
To be honest I don’t care his nationality or where he came from. All I know is that he is a devoted husband. He loves his wife and he took care of her when she had cancer and he made her laugh by his comedy so that his wife got better. So stop criticizing him.
Why would he be a national hero in Korea? He's born in the US and is 100% American
"Years ago, I was Korean. " Said Ken.
I could NOT imagine at least South Korea not knowing you. They are very hip and into todays things compared to North Korea, of course lol..... I LOVE ME SOME KEN JEONG .... AND DEFINITELY SOME MR CHOW
He's like the Korean Conan O' Brien.
Um, Korean O'Brien?
Nope
Tanveer Ahmad It's so disappointing that it took four years for someone to say this.
Nah man, you went too far
That's not true...
Conan has good chemistry with Koreans, ken jeong and Steven yeun
Jen Shild.
We love you ..to funny , you rock 🤘🏻🌎✌🏻
He’s korean but very obviously doing a Japanese accent....
Korean and Japanese have a similar accent when they speak English
AnotherSixthGun no it is very different. All 3 main countries of east Asia have different english accents than each other.
The Japanese can't pronounce the consonants. They read MacDonald as Ma-g-do-na-r-d. And they can't pronounce F, so they change it to H.
@@BlackForlornRose They are drastically different. They use quite different sets of sounds, and that affect how they pronounce English. There's a video about this issue; especially on the sound of r/l in East Asian countries. ua-cam.com/video/2yzMUs3badc/v-deo.html
Also, rhythm is different.
@@cjpeep That is very true.
