Chimmy Neutron lucky he had that choice
His Asian parents would get angry of he would not be a doctor
He followed his beloved wife advise instead.

For anyone who doesn’t know, your doctor has googled something for somebody’s condition while you were there at least once. So has your electrician and plumber for that matter. It takes trial and error out of it :D
Agreed! What they learn is how to understand those directions and perform it correctly
Exactly! And there's no shame in that. It's the people who DON'T look it up and pretend they know that you should be concerned about.....

The patellar reflex is such a simple yet informative test, it blew my mind and it's what lead me to follow neurology as silly as it sounds. The fact that you could check up on both your central and your peripheral nervous system with just one tiny hammer was so amazing to me
I love the brain stem question. It demonstrates why we need specialist in medicine. I always hear people complaining that they had to be referred to a specialist. Doctors are smart but not miracle workers. There is so much going on in the body that it’s impossible to memorize literally everything about it. My point is, people expect physicians to be miracle workers. Sometimes we expect miracles but we don’t live in a fairy tail. Sometimes it’s just impossible for one person to do it all. For example, I have Tourette’s. I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 22 because I hadn’t seen a specialist. Because nobody really understands the disease they always said it was a combination of OCD and an obnoxious kid. When I was 22 I finally got an MD who actually wanted to send me to a specialist who finally diagnosed me and decided to give me treatment. Because the MDs I went to before thought they knew was wrong with me, they didn’t listen when I said no, those aren’t my symptoms, I think something else is wrong with me. An MD has a responsibility to refer you to make absolutely certain you get the care you need even if that means you proved the arrogant prick wrong.
its kinda silly to expect your plumber to fix your tv, your physician wont know everything about the absurdly complex human body

I love Ken’s brutal honesty.
I absolutely love that he openly looks up the non-important anatomy stuff. Trust me, if your medical professional needs to know the parts of your brain stem - they WILL know the parts of your brain stem. Pretty much every doctor/nurse/mid-level you encounter will not need to know that and will have forgotten that many years before.
Your brain stem is one of the most important anatomy features in your brain. You will100% die without it. But as a PCP specializing in account medicine, he doesn’t need to worry about a lot of neural information

Thank you, Dr. Jeong, for addressing the importance of the reflex test. My late husband had his reflexes checked by a chiropractor and some other similar tests and received news that he might have ALS. Unfortunately, the chiropractor was spot on in his observations. It's been 100 years since Lou Gehrig's diagnosis and we are no closer to a cure for this orphan disease.
for me it was a physical therapist that realized there was something very abnormal with my calf muscles and referred me to a neurologist. thankfully not anywhere near as catastrophic as ALS.
I am so sorry to hear about your husband’s diagnosis. I wish some form or well wishes would help, but I know it cannot. I just hope it is far easier than what you or him have imagined it will be ♥️

“How much vitamin c is too much?”
“Yes.”
Actually it's really hard to say and you can only get hypervitaminosis if you take unnecessary supplements.
@Camille Arroyo ...A sports, its in the game
For adults the max amount per day is 2000mg i think. The recommended amount to take daily is between 100-500mg. Also your body can only absorb maximum 500mg of vitamin c at one time, so if you for example take a suplement pil that cotnains 600mg vit c, then the rest 100mg will be wasted
Your body will pee out the rest of unnecessary vitamin C as it is water soluble and overconsumption will not cause toxicity as opposed to fat soluble vitamins ADEK
