Use procrastination as a sign - if you're procrastinating, that might be a sign that you're doing something that you don't want to be doing. If you don't love what you're doing, you'll always battle procrastination. Even if you manage to build up momentum, you might realize one day that you really don't like history or math, or excel and your motivation will drop back down. Try to find ways to make something mundane more fun - throw on your headphones while your doing dishes and listen to some music you like or an audiobook. And once you've completed your task, acknowledge and celebrate your small wins to build your snowball! For the bigger picture, try to identify your purpose, something that you are so passionate about that procrastination isn't even an option. Then find organizations and people that can let you pursue this purpose. Sure, quick fixes might help, but they can only take you so far. I found this video really insightful and decided to type up my main takeaways so that they really stick. Thank you Will!
You are like a mind-reader, I was just searching for videos on how to stop procrastinating. Then, I got a notification that you uploaded this video. Thank you for existing!
I have a doubt with the nibble technique. For eg. Now I'm walking while listening to this and if I set my step target as 2k because I want to get started, I might stop after 2k even though I can do 4K. Just because I set the target as 2k I feel like I can't do anymore. Since I have seen this happen many times, I keep my initial step target as 5k. Now I just don't start at all. How can I get over this dilemma of setting personal targets.
There may be a misunderstanding about the technique. Start at 2k. then increase to 2.2k another day. then 2.3k then 2.4k you're gradually pushing yourself rather than thinking about 5k
