Exactly! She has a way of drawing you into the beauty of the song itself, rather than drawing attention to her as a singer (which is actually the greatest ability a singer can have). The best way I can think of to express it is that some singers use songs as platforms to demonstrate their vocal ability, while the best use their vocal abilities to demonstrate the beauty of the song. Hayley is in the latter category.

I've never heard a voice like Hayley's. There's just something about it that gets deep inside of me.
Hayley Westenta is one of the best singers in the world. People just have different tastes however, ours is classic... timeless...

That's a statement in itself when maestro Ennio says "she is the exception to his rule". Hayley is a laid back young lady with no diva tendencies a typical kiwi. Lyrics written by Hayley talented young lady.
I think maestro needs 'someone' who is not 'too' vocally superb, to fill the 'last gap' of his sentimental works. Someone who will not 'go too far' as vocalist, BUT stay being as 'another' music instrument.
Hayley is not the ultimate greatest light soprano,
but she has 'something' that touches Ennio Morricone, and moves him.
And that's her 'magic'.
This is one of the best, or even the occasionally best album.
"Paradiso" brings me to a musical paradise... :)

@dieseldog00 Well, the Maestro Ennio Morricone, the genius composer of some of the most beautiful melodies ever made, don't share your opinion and find Hayley unique and best suited to his music. On the other hand this is Hayley's album.

Sarah pestered him to write lyrics, whereas the Maestro Ennio Morricone went to Hayley. So, that may say something in and of itself.

I think Hayley Westerna voice is so sweet, and vastly superior to that of Brightman, I think if she was that good Morrricone would have used her, anyway a gorgeous combination

Everyone talks as if Hayley is the lucky one in this combo, but I think it is Ennio who was the lucky one to work with such a talented angelic voice.

Sarah Brightman pestered him for months for permission to write lyrics for Nella Fantasia. Why he didn't use her on this project is beyond me. Westenra is nowhere near as good a singer as Brightman.

@@marvinsilverman4394 so for such a well known singer as Sarah whom I admire greatly that seems strange as I'm sure the maestro would of heard many songs that Sarah has sung over the years. Maybe my opinion only the maestro did not think Sarah's voice did not suit his music, which is fair enough as he wrote the music. Still for any singer to have full collaboration from maestro Ennio, will be something that no other singer will have in the future.
