Dark Forest is a cool theory why if there are essentially infinite capacity for the universe to host life, and an extraordinarily long time for civilizations to become extremely advanced, then it becomes a bad idea to interact with alien civilizations that are millions of years ahead in technology who could or could not be immediately hostile. Like, what if the only reason any alien civilizations survive so well is because they learned it was necessary to wipe out any civilization that discovers them? With a million years, what kind of 500 lightyear range, planet exterminating weapons could aliens dream up? We already know of 4 that could be successfully implemented, and our civilization is only 10,000 years old in technology. To naysayers, it is just one possible answer to the Fermi Paradox, but do you think a civilization would last a million years if it chose the 1/1000 bad possibility every time they found or were found by an alien civilization? Can you imagine taking that gamble with a trillion lives and your entire species on the line? How about doing that 100 more times? Small odds add up, and long lived civilizations might not have lived so long if they took pity on every ant that just so happened to begin spacefaring in their first ten thousand years of relevance.

Bacteria is very simple, there's definitely at least 1 other planet in our galaxy with life, alien doesn't just mean a highly intelligent species that figured out how to travel in space

Alright smart guy then how does that explain people in 1896 seeing a mysterious giant airship or the Foo Fighters seen by both sides in WW2? Or all the historical ufo sightings
To be fair, if an aggressive species with secret weapons and nuclear weapons was discovered, we would deploy permanent observation drones around their secret bases.
it's entirely possible. We make a lot of assumptions that they way more mature and clinical than us. Even back in our own history we keep making discoveries that show our ancestors were exactly as mature as we are now. I remember on a podcast one of the hosts pointed out we exist on one our galaxies arms, so on a galactic scale we're out in the boonies. if their are galactic civilizations they would more than likely exist closer to the center and not all the way out here. They joke that our first official meeting with an alien would them setting up a Bus Station or something in our solar system and we just run into some simple construction workers and start bothering them with all these questions while he's working
I guess their motives are as varied as ours. Some come to research us, others proclaim themselves as gods before those who are too dumb to think otherwise.
@hunterlg13 I don't really buy the "distracting us" idea. People have a pretty high bandwidth for goings-on these days and alien stuff falls out of our brains in very short order after these hearings come out. I follow this stuff so I can recall like half a dozen congressional hearings where questions are asked about aliens over the past 20 years and I wasn't distracted from the rest of the things happening in the world.
@hunterlg13 by my count there has been at least one congressional hearing where questions regarding aliens are asked for the past 7 years and they have been heavily covered by the media. Every time they happen, someone says "they're trying to distract us!". But we all have a high bandwidth for information these days. I'm aware of extremely chilling things going on in the world that the idea of aliens isn't distracting me from. I think it's more likely that the people asking and answering the questions know that government officials talking about aliens garners attention, so they ask leading questions and answer vaguely to boost their own public notoriety.
@hunterlg13 dang, I tried making a couple responses and I don't think I said anything too crazy but they're not showing up. Maybe I'll just make a video about it.
@@hunterlg13 is just another way to drag people into conspiracy thinking. and once they start believing that there is a huge conspiracy going on, they can believe anything. i have this friend, which is incredibly well educated and intelligent, that in the last few years started going into full crazy politics shit and UFO stuff was his gateway to that. like i don't think is happening on purpose. this fella here probably is a mix of believer and grifter, similar to how how most scalpers are collectors themselves. and he is doing this just for selling books because that's what his live-hood depends on or because people believing his shit makes him feel good. the people putting him on spotlight and let him on news are the ones that are very happy with having more crazy people around.

@@Mr.Bimguswell, pretty much all major religious institutions would be thrusted into a very uncomfortable situation, seeing how the vast majority doesn’t take into account the idea of aliens. Everyone else that isn’t religious wouldn’t really be surprised though, that much is true.
That was declassified. And 1 video about a black spot that you don't know what it is doesn't make it aliens. The most likely explanation was an issue with the aiming system and private citizens with aircraft knowledge have already explained how it could happen.
@@RandomStuff-he7lu The videos, on their own, are nearly unremarkable. Its the story/context given to them by soldiers/pilots that make the videos special. Are the soldiers lying? Maybe. Probably.
I personally think that if we used the "if they're so advanced, why can we detect them?" argument to be moot because you can counterargue with the same premise. example: "if they're so advanced they don't need to hide, we just suck at catching up to them". we are working with too many presumptions I think. I personally believe a healthier approach is that we don't know what another evolutionary lineage is driven by. We can't assume they have the same inhibitions, principles, purposes, philosophy, etc. and thus will fundamentally operate differently. We simply don't know and we have to just take what the evidence suggests. If there is something here, it needs to be taken seriously and investigated.
Well, one kind of benevolent galactics called Pleiadians are so similar to us they can procreate with us in the natural way. Which isn't crazy, because the first human-type beings didn't originate on Earth. See the book "the prism of Lyra." Pleiadians WANT us to get our stuff together, partly because we're their brothers, and also because they'd eventually (when we're up to speed) like us to engage in a joint effort with them against a malicious type of galactic who is our common enemy. So them showing themselves is a way of helping us get up to speed, without "forcing progress down our throat" in a way that we might not yet be ready for (i.e. them landing openly). That said, I think they'll land openly within our lifetime.
"Alien" can be defined as something you're not familiar with so it doesn't mean it was from another planet. I really hope and wish it is that type of tech.
If aliens are real the they’d definitely wanna stay away from us, think of the average disagreement between humans during the medieval era (there was lots of wars over dumb things btw)
There were... incidents during the Cold War. Countries from both sides lost pilots and airframes trying to intercept them, and that's just what we know about.
We need a sit down discussion with Charlie's dad featuring questions submitted by chat. Charlie can speculate his answers all he wants, but the world wants to hear from the man, the myth, the legend himself. His answers may surprise us all as he is THE preeminent expert on aliens. We beseech you, Mr. White. We need answers!
It's important in these situations to remain objective and not let the frequent subjective information dilute our conclusions. It's fun to speculate. For example: I think this alien stuff is just another distraction from far more grounded and important things going on in the world, like reporting about a cat stuck in a tree when the tap water is dangerously contaminated with lead in the same community.
4:36 That is not even what he said. He went on this spiel about how them provoking us to learn about our readiness qualifies as "nonverbal communication" which makes me questions his credentials. If you talk to actual Air Force pilots and officers, we don't even fully react to Russian pilots encroaching on our air space, other than sending up a few planes to escort them and make sure they aren't actually crossing the line; we intentionally do that so that they can't fake us out to learn about how we react and gain valuable intel.
9:45 pretty sure one of the first things in the video was the man giving the testimony saying he cannot discuss whether or not they retrieved the objects specially he only able to verify generally that they were looking
Yes, and it makes the best story when they indeed haven’t found anything. They have a dept, and he knows what the public will do with that info: “IT’S REAL!!! Confirmed!!!” And push funding his way. 🤢
The thing with these hearings is that they dont ask the right questions. If they ask the right questions, he'll just answer his "i cannot disclose that information publicly" routine. He might not be lying, but he isnt telling the whole truth either.
As a government employee with a clearance, I find it hard to believe that so many people would have access to something so critical, given how compartmentalized information is at that level. In my view, Bob Lazar is the only whistleblower with an even slightly credible story. He openly admits he doesn’t have all the pieces-only what he needed to know, because that’s how “need-to-know” works.
You’re lying you don’t have a clearance no one with one would classify bob lazar as credible above a former intelligence official testifying under oath. The man testifying in the video is also very open about not knowing everything so your point is moot.
I mean he told the truth about the weird hand scanner device that scans like the bones in your hand with like accessing restricted areas, but that could be a sprinkle of truth in like something made up I guess.
I feel like people don’t think hard enough about what it would really mean if aliens visited us. Worth checking out the opinions of astronomers and people who study space on these things
could you give a couple names or like channels to look at? i feel like if i just throw in “astronomers and aliens” into a search bar im gonna have to sort through pages of people who got astronomy degrees because they were interested in aliens, not space
Theyve been had visiting, so it means nothing until the majority of people are aware of it. More interesting what it'd mean if the majority of people become aware that the tech has been kept from benefiting the public since the 40s, especially with regards to energy. All the while our tax dollars were used to reverse engineer these things, those dollars are unaccounted for, and the planet is frying because of greedy oil execs.

i also just realized that we've been sending out raido waves into space for almost a hundred years, so IF an alien presence was real, then they can see all our dirty laundry, and likley do not want to talk to us
Radio waves decay too quickly and the distances are way too far. Like way way too far.
I imagine we're like the weird mumbling loner kid no one cares about in the whole class lol 😂
Even if they see us and is watching us they won't interfere. We're chaotic all on our own, self-destructive even. Who'd want to bother.
@@AeyakSsounds resource intensive and wasteful. Doubt they would waste their efforts. Its like us using a nuke on an ant hill because an ant learned to use a tool.

You think in our incomprehensibly massive universe and beyond there aren't live forms on other planets? 😅😅
Bacteria is very simple, there's definitely at least 1 other planet in our galaxy with life, alien doesn't just mean a highly intelligent species that figured out how to travel in space
Sometimes I think the answer might be a lot weirder than aliens. Something we don't even have a frame of reference for.
as someone that doesnt necessarily believe we live in a simulation, we could be living in a simulation
Or just aliens that aren't just animals from space, you know? I think of that old Carl Sagan thing where he talks about how higher dimensional beings could just screw with us and we couldn't do anything about it or figure anything out.

it's entirely possible. The gov, I mean. The US one.

100% people think wayyyy too anthropomorphically about this issue. We can’t even begin to guess what their motives might be.

Well, one kind of benevolent galactics called Pleiadians are so similar to us they can procreate with us in the natural way. Which isn't crazy, because the first human-type beings didn't originate on Earth. See the book "the prism of Lyra."
Pleiadians WANT us to get our stuff together, partly because we're their brothers, and also because they'd eventually (when we're up to speed) like us to engage in a joint effort with them against a malicious type of galactic who is our common enemy. So them showing themselves is a way of helping us get up to speed, without "forcing progress down our throat" in a way that we might not yet be ready for (i.e. them landing openly).
