S class may not appeal to everyone but don’t write Stray Kids off. They have a huge back catalogue covering just about every genre and mixing a lot as well. Maybe give Side Effects or Venom a listen as those are harder tracks.

"S Class" is a type of car. essentially it's a saloon type car, usually a car like a mercedes benz. so "s class" in korea means luxury. so "flashy, flashy, we're s-class" makes sense.

I'm 56 and grew up listening to hard rock, metal, etc. I love love love Stray Kids. I recommend Side Effects, Easy, Venom, Victory Song, Thunderous, God's Menu, Maniac, Chronosaurus and so many others.
Felix (whistling at the start) and Bang Chan (aka Christopher) are Aussies and obviously speak English and Korean fluently, although several other members also speak English quite well. Felix can also speak French and Japanese. Most of the members are learning Japanese as it's an important market for them and they tour there and release separate Japanese versions of some of their songs, as well as some made specifically for the Japanese market (see their latest release Social Path featuring Japanese artist LiSA).
The group was formed by the leader, Bang Chan who spent 7 years as a trainee before the company allowed him to choose the members of the group, then put them on a reality show and gave them missions that they had to succeed to eventually be able to debut.
The kids are very hands-on with all of their music, writing and producing most of it themselves. They are one of the few groups in the industry with this amount of control over what they produce. There is a subunit within the group, 3racha who are the main writers and producers, though several of the other members have also written and performed solo/duo songs.
Anyway, definitely don't write them off before giving them more of a chance, they have so many genres within their music I think you'll be surprised and maybe even find something you like.

Can l suggest watching Stray Kids performances at the Mama Awards 2022 when they performed Venom and Maniac and you might understand why people like me at age 63 who grew up listening to Def Leppard and Metallica are now huge Stray Kids fans. On of the best live performances lve ever seen and lve seen a few in my lifetime. Also Victory Song Mama 2020 so epic.

As a 34 year old fellow multi genre listener (I enjoy metal, rock, country, etc), I was really surprised with how much I love and respect Stray Kids. They are self produced (write and make their own music) and most of their songs have deep meaning to them. I noticed a lot of their title tracks (S Class is a title track) are more upbeat and in your face. But their title songs are only one song out of the album. They have a huge discography that’s worth diving into for sure. 🩶

Thank you very much from a faithful STAY(their fandom name) for the honest reaction. Not all their songs are for everyone, however they do have a very lengthy discography and I'm sure you cane find something you like. If you are looking for lyrical depth there is their new one called Social Path. As someone mentioned already there are no subtitles as with all their Japanese releases. But you can find lyric videos that fans translate. You can also check out Lonely St. Youtiful. These are more singing than rap. If you like edm and rowdy music I'd suggest Venom Freeze or God's Menu. Thunderous is also a great one. Some of my personal favorites are Easy, Hall of Fame, Topline (much more hip-hop-ish). Honestly once you start going down the rabbit hole with them there is so much.
If you are interested in some of their solo stuff I'd recommend Deep End by Felix, Street Light by Changbin Doodle by Changbin, Connected by Bang Chan. There are so many more!
3Racha produces most of their music. They all can rap and sing so there are not really any traditional "roles" for each member. They are all passionate, talented young men. At the end of each of their videos they remember to mention their fans "Stray kids all around the world, you make Stray Kids stay." They really are an amazing group of guys. I hope you find something you enjoy and if not that's okay too, thank you for giving our boys a chance!

I've subscribed as I'm determined to see you fall down the rabbit hole.
I'm 55, always loved music, loved my glam rock with Bon Jovi and Poison in the 90s, even went to their concerts. Then life happened, got married to someone who wanted quiet, had 4 children, then became single. Life was about getting by and surviving. 6 years ago my daughter came to me and asked me to check a video out. It was Stray Kids pre debut song Hellavator. As soon as i heard it was K-POP i tuned out. Yes dear, thats nice. She tried again in 2020 when they released GODS MENU. Yes dear, that's nice.
Scroll forward to a year ago, surfing youtube and i found a short of Felix deep voice.....huh, what's this. Found the video, loved it. Went to my daughter and she blew her stack at me.....MUM!!!! I TRIED TO SHOW YOU THAT WHEN IT CAME OUT!!! Wait, you did?
They say you don't find Stray Kids, they find you when you need them most. In my case this is true. I love music again. My rabbit hole is huge there is so much talent in South Korea. I don't like rap but i LOVE Korean rap.
I have listened to every song I can find and there is not a single one I don't like. I would never recommend S-Class to a newbie. It is an acquired taste for those of us who know and love them. Tell us what you like to listen to, like they say in GOD'S MENU, they truly have something for everyone. My personal favourite is EASY. It's a trap beat.
My daughter and i went to their world tour concert at the beginning of the year. They blew every other concert i have ever been to out of the water. They are PHENOMENAL.
Also, every SKZ song has a message, i watched a poet cry whilst reacting to SEUNGMINS HOLD ON today.
Your belief of what K-POP is used to be mine, but boy was i wrong.
You may have been thinking of BUTTER by BTS or Gangnam style by PSY

Thanks for sharing Phylis. I must admit that glam rock wasn't my thing lol.. but my gateway song by Chan (i hate to admit) touch me even though I could not understand anything only a few words.. I just cried... and didn't know why I was crying.. and me being me, I had to find out more and went on this journey (no family to talk with about the boys) solo.. I lowkey kinda envy you and your daughter being able to going to concert, etc.. lol Listening to SKZii message, even in Konglish has been helpful for me to be open up to share online to other Stay and babyStay. I want to share and payback Stay kindness shown to me to others. I love the wordplay that 3racha send out thru their lyric and always depend on Ytubers It's Andy and Jas to breakdown the Korean and shows just how much of a genius they are at writing. I appreciate them cause Korean is not a easy language and way different then English. My 2nd fave song is Easy and could also be Dynamite by BTS.. That was even covered by my favorite American A cappella group, Pentatonix.

She tried to outdo me on the "how well do you know skz" quizzes, she hasn't beaten me yet, lol. These boys are just something else, there is no other like them, there probably never will be, so we need to soak it in whilst we can.

Pseudo Echo, Mondo Rock, The Angels, John Farnam, The cockroaches, The Divinyls, Killing Heidi, Baby Animals, Midnight Oil, Crowded House, Cold Chisel, Johnny Diesel and Skyhooks to name a few.
You may have heard of INXS, SAVAGE GARDEN AND AC/DC. More recently there has been 5 SOS. 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER.

S-class is a work that isn’t exactly like anything they’ve done before, and our boys said that they do expect it to confuse people. I consider it a bit of a Frankenstein monster sort of song - but it really does grow on you and turn into an earworm. Beyond that, there is a lot of context that subtitles can’t give you. The song in Korean is ‘Teuk’ which is a (sometimes derogatory) way to say ‘odd’ and has been used to insult their previous works. Byeul is the Korean word for ‘star’ and when you put Teuk-Byeul together it means ‘special’.
So these words are prominent in the lyrics, with teuk being in a lot of wordplay in the raps. And byeul/star being prominent is a call to the album name of 5-star (most of the songs reference stars somewhere).
These guys are an 8 member (formerly 9) group formed in 2018- they have had an active hand in writing and producing their music since the start, and their members have the highest numbers of copyrights registered for their generation (the one with the most having 165 credits).
I’d highly recommend checking out Maniac, Thunderous and District 9. I’d also recommend their recent release Social Path (be warned it has no subtitles so maybe get some lyrics too) and a lyric video for Hall of Fame.

As a 43 year old STAY, I actually can see the Savage Garden comparison haha, but Stray Kids are so much more!! I think the only genre they haven't bluntly touched is 'country/bluegrass' but they can legit Do.Anything/Everything. My personal favorite tracks are "Collision", "Chronosaurus" and "Side Effects" but it changes daily... I became a fan of theirs last year after hearing "Maniac". Since then I have taken myself and my husband/kids to their concert, bought two of their albums and they are for the 99.9999% part, the ONLY music I listen to anymore. They're just different... no matter your upbringing, ethnicity or age. Stray Kids World Domination!!

I'm 53 and am kicking myself for not getting on board with kpop before 2022! I grew up listening to everything from Simon & Garfunkel to Rod Stewar,t to Journey to ELO, to Donna Summer to Earth Wind and Fire. My 80s were deeply void of pop, but I did lots of alternative until I dove deep into R&B in the 90s. It was an eclectic mix going forward and now in my 50s anything that sounds good will go on a playlist.
Jumping to my earlier lament... I REGRET NOT GIVING KPOP A CHANCE before 2022. For years my sister, her girls, my daughter and countless other people (including a 70 year old cousin, believe it or not) kept badgering meto give it a listen. It wasn't until I was prepping for a concert that I had to take kids to that I fell down the rabbit hole. Whatever little knowledge you may have of Kpop, it's likely not enough! The kpop industry is nothing like US or Western music industry. Their business models and practices are deeply rooted in their cultural rules and mores. It's beyond fascinating to me.
I digress, because I'm supposed to comment on your reaction to S-Class. I actually stopped midway through your vid because I needed to make sure you thoughts were sent before my old brain forgets what want to say!
I've walked the earth along with many of my fellow 50+ year old Stay to know that time is precious. I like many groups and idols, but I absolutely ADORE Stray Kids. Stray Kids, to me, is just a a different level. Their discography spans almost 200 self produced songs so far, and crosses so many genres. Their sound is different amongst so much of the same and there truly is something for everyone.(rap, pop, hip hop,EDM, dance, rock, ballads, and one song that could be played on a country statiom)! No bad for 8 young men who are all between 22-26!
Even if the music itself isn't for you, I appreciate the time you spent watching. Their M/Vs are known for being the best in the industry, so look at the direction and production and the arrangement and production of the music.
    Thanks, again!
P.S. yes, hair, makeup, the fits and drip, are all 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. These beautiful people wear it all well!

Yeah s class is definitely not for everyone Stray kids experiment with a lot of genres and not everything might appeal to everyone. To the point they've even created their own genre called mala taste for the song God's menu 😂. I really like their trap, psytrance, rock, edm and r&b tracks. You might want to check out side effects it's psytrance or venom which is one of my favorite songs by them. There's also videos with snippets of their discography or the genres they've tried you could check that out to know if you might want to check out other songs from them. They basically have tried out everything from slow ballads to rock. And Kpop is not really a genre it's an industry you can pretty much find artists and groups doing different genres there's also rock groups like Dreamcatcher, Day6 and Xdinary heroes. It's just popular Korean music which is also called idol music since the artists are called idols in Korea.

    thank you for reaction!
I am in my 30+ and listen to any type of music - I have classical music, pop, rock, heavy metal etc - almost any genre in my playlists depending on my mood. But an important note to it - I have always said "I don't have favourite artist, I have favourite songs".
there were certain reasons why I checked out kpop back in 2021 and now I mostly listen to it. For me personally western music sounds kind of boring after kpop, especially western pop.
Stray Kids is on the top of my preference list. I can confidently say that for the first time in my life I have a favourite artist, from who I have heard 100% of discography and love 98% of it.
They do have silly dancy songs, they have deep and/or sad songs to cry to and they have dancy songs you would dance too, but then you read the lyrics and realize how deep it is. there are even some dancy songs I cry to XD
kpop is like boy band music, but brought to the next level. young boys and girls train for months or years to sing, rap, dance, act, have interviews etc. and then a small portion of them debuts as kpop artists. kpop songs are polished, title tracks almost always have a dance specific to that particular song, so that people can recognize a song by the dance without even hearing the music. groups also publish so called dance practices to the songs.
Stray Kids is considered to be a rap-heavy group known for their "noisy" hard-hitting music (however their discography is very diverse as I said above). they have 8 members, 3 members write most of the group's discography and are the main producers of the group (kpop idols rarely contribute to song writing, especially to such an extent as Stray Kids).
Stray Kids music is specific, not everyone has to like it, you don't have to either. but I have seen in another comment that you will check them out more, so I have subscribed to see more Stray Kids reactions.
Kpop music in general and Stray Kids in particular have a sound one has to get used to. for me personally it always takes several listens before I start liking a song. but maybe when you get used to, you will start liking Stray Kids :).

Oh I already subscribed, you know why? Because I saw me in you when my daughter introduced me to K-pop, a hard rocker mom, I thought I knew best but going musically dormant after Lynkin Park it took K-Pop to wake me up to music again after many years…but not just any K-Pop. Stray Kids have their own unique sound, why they are S Class, they’re special as they say in the song.
These boys work hard, write, produce their music. Makeup? Hollywood actors even news anchors wear makeup, it’s nothing new just the lipstick took me a while to get used to.
All their songs have meaning. Check out more songs and see if none of them will go on your playlist. Maybe go by most watched like God’s Menu which explains how they will cook up any style of songs to suit everyone’s taste in music.
Looking forward to seeing your evolution from “nah not my style” to “I admit it, this is good”.
    Until next time❤

Its actually very common (pretty much the standard) in Kpop to dance to their Songs and use lots of english too, especially these days in groups & soloists.
Kpop has a wide variety of genres (R&B, pop, Ballads, Hip Hop etc...) so you have alot of variety to choose from! I, as an example, am not too much of a fan of BTS' music just because its too poppy for me (expect their old songs), but I like Ateez's, Xdinary Heroes, NCT's and alot of other groups music (but im personally more into soloists) just because the genres are way more different, but its still under the same main genre, Kpop.
Songs I reccomend are: Siren by Riize (the performance video so you can check out the dancing aswell thats videly across kpop), Daisy by Pentagon, Pirates ; X-Mas ; Man in the box, all three by Xdinary Heroes, Venom by Stray Kids and Frost by TxT

Hey there thanks for reacting to Kpop😊
I apologize in advance if any wierd people pop up but hopefully you don't get any.
I personally like rock but not metal or hardrock so I'm probably not the perfect person to get recommendations from for you, but if you maybe like rap and you mentioned something lyrical too, then I would recommend BTS "Tear" by their Rapline. (Live Performance eng sub)
*I would also recommend Ddang and Ugh! but they are not easy to understand if you're not Korean... the lyricism is genius but you would have to watch the explaination video by DKDKTV too haha)
    Next Seventeen's HipHop Unit "Fire"
And by the whole group "Ash" (HipHop Style) and "SOS" (prod. Marshmellow) just because hehe (Seventeen has a lot of guitar as the Main Instrumental)
*with every song that doesn't have a Music Video I would recommend watching the "color coded lyric videos (most songs that you would like are probably b-sides so no MVs so please don't choose those over the one's you'd probably like more, we all like you listening to songs while reading the lyrics just as much)*
Kpop has a lot of Hip Hop influences, you will find that most Groups have a Rap or HipHop Line and sometimes Perform in Units which means that they have pure Rap or HipHop and Ballad songs in the same group (mostly split in two with two lines, vocal and rap)
But either way have fun! And I hope you find somethibg you like^^

I get it not being for everyone. I never thought I'd listen to kpop and yet here I am, at 44 yrs old listening to it. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

In case no one else mentioned it, the Korean title is 특 and translates as "special".
It's fairly common for tracks to have a title in both Korean and English, but it's not typically a direct translation. (Venom, for instance, has a Korean title that means spiderweb.)
S-Class is a luxury model for Mercedes-Benz (so "luxurious like I'm an S-Class").
    S-Class is also top-tier for some ranking systems -- C, B, A, S (so "best of the best, I'm 1st class")
Saying they are S-Class basically means they're top of the top, cream of the crop, special class of idols.
I'm 43 and grew up listening to a bit of everything except rap, hip-hop, R&B, etc.; from classical to classic rock to gospel to singer-songwriter to world music and just about everything in between. Still fairly new to K-pop in general (I just started listening to OST stuff in March of '22, and started exploring beyond that in November). I actually started off by putting this kind of thing in a separate playlist and listening to it occasionally, while my daily listen was stuff like Nightwish or a playlist full of rock that came out in the 90s and 00s... but before too long, I just kind of found myself listening to my "EA" playlist every day instead (EA = East Asian, since it's now full of stuff out of Korea, Japan, and China).
There's a LOT of K-pop (which is an umbrella term that kind of refers to the Korean music industry, not just a specific genre) that I really don't enjoy... but my basic rule is to always give a song at least two listens before deciding if I actually dislike it (I've had several grow on me that way), and with new groups I won't write them off unless I've just thoroughly disliked the first 3 songs I've heard (and again, after giving each of those at least 2 listens to make sure). The exception to that rule is if a group's sound (usually the vocals) just hurts me in a way that I can't stomach sitting through multiple listens. It's kind of amazing to me how much my musical taste has expanded since starting this journey, though.
Stray Kids might not be my ult(imate) group, but they're so super talented and I love a lot of what I've heard from them. I also love that they're so friendly with my ult group, because it makes for a special relationship between STAY and my group's fanbase (I don't call myself a STAY because I don't follow them closely enough to warrant that, but I'm definitely a casual fan).

Ahhh... anyone who knows and understands the differences between the Korean titles and the "Angelize" titles is more than a casual fan... I would say (maybe...) a babyStay... admit it 😄

@@Resistance_Is_Futile1of3 😂 I actually thought I was a babySTAY at one point in time, but I haven't heard enough of their discography, don't care to hear enough to listen to half of it by myself (I might watch a reaction at some point and listen that way), and some of what I have heard just isn't something I'll ever choose to load up in my playlist. So I'll stick to be a casual fan who has massive appreciation for who they are and the amount of work (and love) they pour into their craft. I guess in my head "baby___" equates to someone who is getting into a group's content and really wants to learn more, like babies grow over time, whereas I don't really care if I grow as long as I can enjoy the songs I already know and enjoy. I don't know if that made sense, but it's basically why I say I'm casual 😅
I really am a more than casual fan of music, though, and I'm a nerd who is (slowly) learning Korean... and Papago is a very useful tool, so when analyzing a song where there's a double title, then I usually will add that to my thoughts. For my ult group, I'll routinely pause the screen so I can check things written on walls/posters/etc. to translate and get extra insight from those. 😊

@@nikole4042 I am good with casual standby (Stay-by?). I appreciate people who like to analyzing lyrics and can or willing to help other learn new things. You write very well. @@Resistance_Is_Futile1of3 Thank you for the compliment! I've always tried to express myself well when writing, so I really do appreciate you saying I write well. I'm sure I'll be hearing more SKZ as time goes on, since I do have several friends who also like them, it's just less likely that I'll do a deep dive on my own. Some things I'm good with jumping right into the rabbit hole, while for others I feel more comfortable doing it alongside others (even if that's just by watching reactions). We'll see what happens. The idea of Felix guarding the back door of StayVille does make it a tempting offer, so I'll undoubtedly drop by occasionally 🙃

If you're familiar with tier lists, then you probably know the term "s-tier", as in even better than "a-tier". Well, "s-class" carries basibally the same meaning. In many Asian schools, students are sorted by academic aptitude/performance from "a-class" for top students to "f-class" for lost causes. So, Stray Kids are saying they're even better than "a-class" kpop groups, hence "s-class".
