All Genki wanted was to have babies of her own, she went thru hell and back and survived, she deserved to be a mommie, even though Gentaro was taken away for medical reasons, it hurt Genki but never interfered the love she has for Gentaro and the same for Kintaro. @@DeborahGadson-d9jShe bonded with Gentaro pretty well under the circumstances. I think the keeper would have them visit every day until they decided to let Gentaro in with her. She obviously loved him and was happy to have him back. She missed out on most of the initial intimacy between mother and infant though. I don’t think that he nursed for example.
She might have been a good mom to Kintaro, but not so much with Gentaro. He was still young when Kintaro was born and still needed and craved his mom's attention. That punch was one of many he received from her for trying to get close to her. Gentaro missed his mom so much, and dad's, but they were all about the baby. Very sad situation for Gentaro
I can't imagine how hard it was for Genki to bond with Genterio after 10months gone. Some mothers never bond after their babies are taken from them after birth. Ten months is a long time. I thought the mom carry the baby around for years, is that true?

I know this video is old. And I have been complaining or mentioning it for years. these animals are not being taken care of properly that's all they eat is that grass. Another is that they need oils on their skin. not only is there skin dry, but its patchy all over the body. Zoo Keepers, it's neglectful to let this go on,They have a certain oil on their skin and you're not putting it on them. Not feeding them the correct foods, Small enclosures. I could go on a little bit more but I'm not going to. you know what your supposed to do. In America they put some kind of oil on their gorillas. Please only takes a minute. Look at Cleveland zoo. Bronx zoo. You're zoo shows that you are not doing your job. And you get payed ???? 😢 pour gorillas. Its just not there skin, its alot of things your not seeing or doing. Shame on you.
What in the world are you talking about? Other zoos do not put anything (oils, etc) on their gorillas - that would be extremely dangerous. The videos also clearly show that the gorillas enjoy a varied diet consisting of various vegetation. Finally, do you know the habits of gorillas in the wild? They travel no more than half a mile in a day. They can be (and are) perfectly happy in an enclosure that size. Japan isn't exactly a third-word country without expert biologists, etc, who can inform the zoo as to the animals' needs

Gentaro was 7 when Kintaro was born... I'm sure it was hard on him but he was certainly old enough for a sibling.
