David is so good its hard to pick a favorite, love this one but also his live performance of Live like a King which he wrote and performed at a Barn Bash concert. I don’t really think there is a “prime” to his career. We just saw him last September at his Barn Bash in Culleoka and it was incredible. Also his new release coming out in a week or so of Stories & Songs Volume II is phenomenal.
Hey Josh, love your videos. I’m curious since you like southern gospel, if you’ve ever listened to the Statler Brothers. They retired in 2001 and sadly their bass singer Harold Reid passed away in 2022 but I still love to listen to them. They are in both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Johnny Cash hired them to tour with him in 1964 and they were with him for 8-1/2 years. Their first #1 single was Flowers on The Wall and it crossed over to the Pop Charts which really skyrocketed their career. Jimmy Fortune who took over as tenor when Lew Dewitt had to retire due to health issues in 1982 is still singing and performing and he’s my other favorite tenor next to David Phelps.

I have listened to many singers (tenors are my favorites), and I have, yet, heard anyone who can sing with such compassion whether singing low or hitting those beautiful high notes. The best thing about David is not only his amazing vocals but his testimony of his love of the Lord! God has used him to spread the gospel in song for many years. His music and other gospel music has helped me tremendously with my walk with Christ. "He's Alive w/gaither vocal band, "End of the Beginning" "Let the Glory Come Down" from Christmas concert, and another which is s OFFICIAL Signature Song for Alzheimer's and Dementia "HELLO BEAUTIFUL" which was actually filmed at David's real house in Tennessee. For warning you will need a box of tissues and you'll need to play it more than once to get the full effect of the lyrics and the story but well worth it. and I don't no if you have reacted to the one song that trust me it has gotten the top number of views and reactions "O HOLY NIGHT". This was the first song I heard from David in 2002, I was hooked immediately. I've seen him sing this song live numerous times, it's always spectacular.
I also saw him sing this live 2 years ago from the front row. It was otherworldly!!! He was 52 when I heard it live and he hasn't lost a step! He remains awesome!!!

I always loved David's rendition of O Holy Night from the 80s?? Resolved in my heart it would never be completed with ... Never. Well David released a version in which he sang it in his "barn" . It was within the last five years or so. It is different but OMG masterful! David is just getting better. It's like , he knows his abilities are changing so he adapts so he is in control . It is his super power. ❤❤❤
