Of course on GBA breath of fire 1 and 2 Sound is not as good as the originals that's not true it only sounds that way because the super nintendo Because that was stereo sound The GBA versions were running off sound that was 1st used when the original nintendo was released mono because they're GBA only had one speaker that's why the sound was not goodSuper nintendo versions breath of fire rain off 2 speakers stereo sound well breath of fire 1 and 2 On GBA was running off of one speaker like the original nintendo did when it 1st came out AK mono sound meaning 1 speaker but if they re released among the switch they Q restored the GBA versions breath of fire 1 and 2 To gain stereo sound and they can redo the art Work graphics so they could have the same color art style as breath of fire 3And it's graphic engine breath of fire 3 could be put into the 1st 2 games when they released some on the switch GBA versions so they look and play nicer and sound nicer and it's a good excuse for them also to fix the Local station And restore a sorceress to her riginal name that she gained back in Breath of fire 3 Our favorite sorceress in the 1st 2 games that is the last character Get in the 1st game the serpent sorceressWhere she has her original name in breath of fire 3 well if they redid the 1st 2 games to be is nice as the 3rd one they keep restore proper localization For the 1st 2 games cause I would have the resources to do so Now a days In also give the 1st 2 games Japanese Animated scenes To tell a better story for the 1st 2 games and fix BOF 2 Ryu Dragon powers so he stays transformed like he does in the 1st and 3rd and 4th game where he stays dragon transformed this way they could fix it for the 2nd one breath of fire Ryu Dragon powers which out of all 4 games Breath of fire 2 Which was the only odd ball of the series when it came to The dragon powers which acted more like a summon spirit from final fantasy while in the other games breath of fire 1 And 3 and 4 Ryu Stayed dragon transformed in till he defeated the enemy or boss out of the whole entire series breath of fire 2 dragon powers make no sense compared to the rest of the cities which the hero States dragon transformed BOF 2 Dragon powers made no sense compared to the rest of the series get serving than the wrestlers here is he stayed transformed until the battle is over or into you choose to turn him back to normal on your own Number 2 made no sense with the dragon powers acting more like a summon spirit compared 2 the rest of series wouldn't was more like a transformation In BOF 1 and 3 and 4 which were more like transformations the dragon powers the 2nd game in the series made no sense with the dragon powers they acted more like final fantasy summon spirits which made no sense which is something they should fix in a remake BOF 2 If it's fix a dragon powers in a remake restorium back to a transformation so it acts like a breath of fire and not a fricken final fantasy summon spirit power dragon powers BOF 2

This was how I played Breath of Fire II, I really liked it for the GBA. I knew of the SNES version just never got to play it. Was also pretty much one of only a few actual RPGs I had for the GBA as well. Another great review man.

Besides Pokemon Ruby, the last Pokemon game I bothered with I had CV: Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow (well those being more Action RPGs) and FF IV Advance. Rented Golden Sun for it but that was about it. So really Pokemon Ruby and FFIV Advance were the only true RPGs I had for it.

I,ve never played the first 2 games in the series but I've played 3 and 4 on the PS1... and they were great games! I will look for the GBS one to see if it's cheaper then the ones on SNES. Another awesome review! Great video and keep up the good work!

Great review. One of those series I still need to play. This and the first one do seem a little too on the old-school side for me but I'm sure I will play them some day. BOF 3 and 4 are much more appealing to me.

how about chrono trigger, you played that? it's an old school snes rpg yet it plays and even looks better than some ps1 rpgs. every time i play it, i'm in disbelief that it was released on the snes.
I almost finished the storyline, but the game crashes the moment the elevator descends in the dragon clan. I can't find any answers in forums, anybody know what to do?
Great review! I tend to stick with the originals when it comes to these kinds of games and it doesn't sound like it added a whole lot... the double experience and gold is nice though. While I don't really plan on getting the GBA port, BoF II still kicks ass!
+Nintenjoel No, they didn't add much besides making it portable. I can understand why others would prefer the original, but I prefer this one myself, since I can take it with me or pop it into the GB Player. :)
Yeah, that is definitely one advantge. I have this weird problem with getting REALLY tired when I play handhelds for some reason, so I tend to stick with home consoles. Weird huh? Especially happens with the DS.
How is audio on GBA? Common complaint i always see with JRPG's that were ported to GBA is audio. Would it be better to get this on Wii u VC or GBA cartridge?
Audio is better on the SNES cart. I'd say get it on the Wii U.
It is always better on the SNES, but people complain too much, the audio for this game is pretty good on the GBA, and also for the first one.

+heavenstogretzky The first 2 can be a little clunky at times, but are still quite enjoyable.
Do yourself a favor and play it on a snes emulator and with the retranslation by watercrown. (I just beat that version an hour ago) The snes version looks and sounds like a thousand times better. I can recommend using Zsnes and hotkeying the speed function to a controller cause this game gets VERY grindy and tedious at some parts. It is however one of the most solid Jrpgs of all time :)
A lot of people consider breath of fire to be the best in the series but I've only got a little way through it. I really need to find time to play since I've only beaten the first one in the series.

I recently went back and played 2 on vc and forgot how grindy this game was. I do like its style though its cartoony look but serious kinda mystic story unfold. Going to a new area I always had to grind awhile before the enemies wouldn't drain me of health and kick my butt no more. Ive only played 1-3 though and haven't played the new ones or dragon quarter. Nice review.

I have it for Gba and the music is amazing. I have never played it.
I enjoy most of the music, although it does sound better on the SNES original. I still prefer playing this version though since it doesn't take quite as long to get money and experience.
i played abit of this one on the super nintendo and it was hard as hell but i really liked it. although 3 was my favorite from the ones i played
