This guy has a stack of cards worth more than my house.
your house is only worth less than 30k?
What shit hole single room shack you live in?
Rook986 your house is worth 30k dollars?
it's a fucking joke you idiots
BuFFoTheArtClown he's talking about the actual worth. Also I think he meant the stack of graded dual lands.

Rudy:I dont play with basic lands
Me:Well how do you play then Rudy?
Rudy:*Pans over to a monolithic pile of graded duals*
Me:O h
lol, this comment's underrated.
cant play with graded cards mate....LOL
@@andrebomtempo7893 yes you can I do. I’m pretty sure you have to
And then he runs land tax… what?
"You dare to oppose me, mortal?"
"...I never played with any basic lands." Plays Land Tax smh
@@Just_Pele dual lands are not basic lands. Tropical island is a forest and an island but it's a non-basic land. Land tax says to go grab basic lands not islands or swamps or any other basic land, smh.
and he tell that he "kill" when it actualy get exiled. rip this dougebag
Snow coved lands do tho
Broke bitches 😆
Hahahaha look a land tax! Do you have a basic land on your deck? No mostly duals hahahahah
It would be cheaper to play with iphones as cards than using the cards itself lol
James Arcanerage Thats a crazy reality
James Arcanerage that would be cheaper; being about $18,000
It hurts because it is true
I would love to see the shuffling on that! BTW, a 60 "card" deck would be 43cm high, or about a foot and a 1/2. Of course, one would use iphone sleeves as well, and Nokia Communicators for tokens.
Someone actually did that. I'd have to look it up but I remember seeing that very thing pop up once on Reddit.
I love how People get mad at a collector collecting a collectible Card game :)
BishouNoTeresa ikr
Literally cardboard. Pffft... No seriously it's stuff he collected over decades why people would get mad, I have no idea.
youtubasoarus they are all just jealous. only reason to hate
BishouNoTeresa they r jelly jelly jelly
BishouNoTeresa i think people get mad about collectors when they dont also play the game because at its heart its a game thats meant to be played
I like the "It's just paper/cardboard!" complaint. Paintings are just pigments, statues are just rocks, your favorite sport is just people running around with a ball, music is just sound waves.... It's easy to over simplify anything you want and pretend there's nothing more to it.
hypersapien video games are literally light blips
hypersapien well said
This comment sucked, it was just letters...;)
Painting and statues take skill to create and hold historic value (most, not all) sports take skill and endurance, music take talent and years of hard work to create (once again for the most part). Playing cards are a created and controlled market. Either 1 or 1,000,000 of each card and be printed. The value is only worth what you will pay. Nothing more. So yes it is just paper, you just say its worth money.
Taylor you realise that example applies to money too right?
Hey Rudy! A small tip for lowering that reflection problem of yours, circular polarization filters! A simple piece of glass mounted on the camera lens, rotate it in position and bam, most reflections eliminated. If you want them totally gone you can couple that with some linear polarization film on the light sources and that will eliminate essentially any and all forms of glare completely :).
Yeah Rudy look at this comment you girl
Would 2 perpendicular pieces of glass also work?
Was that a Tolarian Community College reference? Because now I'm imagining The Professor uploading a video called "Is it worth it to be Rudy?" and opening with that line.
the only game Rudy plays is the money game
I think he's winning it.
I know what you mean, but at least he's doing real business. I see more of an issue with athletes making hundreds of millions of dollars for running around and throwing a ball.
Cardboard cards, not plastic.
It's the best game to play
like honestly u both carl and tebin are like the same stupid person without any personality
"I mean this deck is nothing fancy" *deck is worth more than my parents cars, and my car combined* I love your videos Rudy, this was a cool look at the past of magic!
He meant it is nothing fancy in terms of mechanics or deckbuild.

Back in the 90s at a tournament in Ottawa they had an "Unrestricted" Type 1 Tournament. You literally had 20 moxes, 4 lotus, 4 time walk etc in your deck. It took all of us to make one of those decks that our buddy played. He didnt end up winning but it was an awesome experience . The chinese guy that won actually played a Mulligan in the final match. Considering his deck had no lands it was genius. He ended up winning a box of Arabian Nights
This might be the most expensive Timmy deck of all time

I actually ran into one with power 9 and zodiac dragon with duals a lions eye and FOW that might be a runner up.
You know swords to plowshares removes from the game right? :D You cant bring them back with the archeologist!
Infyra and the life swap card says only on your upkeep....
Indeed Mirror Universe does. Rudy, you are such a cheater!
Gotta give the guy a break. I'm guessing it's been a while since he last played this deck.
that was my 1st thought to when seeing the swords to plowshare
Also, Karakas only bounces Legendary Creatures, not Enchantments.
In this video Rudy showed us his softer side, props to him! Many people can throw cards around and not wear pants, but it takes a real man to talk about the deck of his teenage years with all seriousness.
What a great blast from the past. With everything crazy going on with CCGs right now, it's great to be able to go back and watch these types of videos.
Thanks Rudy
Oh look my student loan debt in the form of 60+ pieces of paper that are used in a card game.
Joshua Kelley - you damn right! XD
30k student loan debt? America at it again hu.

Pretty cool deck Rudy! Do more of this please, I didn't get to play early MTG and I had a lot of fun with this video. Thanks!
@Alpha Investments I have a huge amount of respect for everything I've just seen in this video. You've not only got some amazingly rare and valuable cards here but your dedication to keeping them safe, clean, tidy and in pristine condition is phenomenal! You certainly are a man who takes pride in the things he enjoys. Keep up the good work!
Now those are the cards I remember. I loved those times and remember opening those kind of pacts. Like I have said before I don't play anymore I just watch for the old memories and see the new art. Thanks for showing off this deck. I would love to see more like this.
Des: Rudy Netdecker CONFIRMED!
my jealousy level is over 9000
man those early days decks must have been fast as fk. 4 lotus, sol rings, moxes.. 4 strip mines..lol pure chaos
loved seeing the old decks hope you keep it up would love to see your other decks
Great trip back in time , big brother! And very smart (despite risky) to invest in and preserve your collection all these years. I wish i had done the same, though my collection never was as big as yours:)
The only thing I dislike about your channel are the comments your viewers sometimes leave. Keep rolling!
Yes that Torlarian Refrence :3
yeah that was super cute :)
FrostGalaxyGamer it seemed like he was throwing shade since he was holding a card called greed
Tolarian is so much better.
I disliked because of that straight disrespect 😂
Wow! What an interesting deck! I would have never thought to build a deck like that when I was playing when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing!
So to answer the question, "Does Rudy play MTG?"
"Here's a bunch of cards worth a bunch of money that you can't actually play with.!"
So, no...no he does not.
must be hard to shuffle that deck.
Question:
Swords remove the Tetravus from the game so the Archeologist cannot bring it back. Are you sure you didn't just remove opponents crap with the Swords?
Also, even if its a "triplet of mana cost" deck with workshops, its odd to me to not have Aladdin's Rings in there for big mana big power.
The Urza Lands combos is absent, but of cause with that many moxes, Sol Rings and a Candelabra and of cause the Winter Orb, you did not need em in this setup.
Incinerate was not in the game till Ice Age iirc. But you probably meant Disintegrate (since you mentioned Fireball as well as an X spell). I remember a lot of burn decks do Lightning Bolt, Pyrotechnics and Fork though as Fork didn't copy the X in the X spells.
you are correct, i realized i said that after i filmed...o well :-(
you might have been thinking of Coffin with Tetravus. You can reset Tetravus every turn with that.
Yeah, gotta give the man a break. He probably hasn't played the deck in a decade or so.
Actually, Fork does in fact copy the X in spells such as Fireball or Disintegrate. Look it up on the Gatherer's official card rules.
Huh? ... (Speaking about Fork) That's new then from back then. We use to have that rule but then it was explicitly ruled (during 94-95 isch) that it did not copy the X of spells. I guess it might have come back as a rule, after it got restricted pretty fast?
I am 100% sure it was not copying X during that period of time at least, cause I had 2 and decided against playing them much as that combo was ruled against. Until it got restricted.
I was actually constructing a deck very similar to this (back in 2000), an was just about to ask about Winter Orbs…. until you showed the side board. I love classic magic. So much freedom and creativity. Love the deck.
I have no clue what he's talking about...
but I'm just so entertained.
Feedback since you asked (for deck inspections): Get a tripod, so you get your hands free and a steady focus. Jeremy does this quite well, so ask him for exact setup advice.
Also, if possible, if you film from 3-5 feet up from the table, go UHD/2160p resolution and a steady fixed focus, so we can see everything at once in big detail. As for those without UHD capability right now; This is for future proofing all the hard work of filming a video. Just like "AAA" movies are filmed with 4K/8K million dollar cameras to be released in full detail when the world is ready for it.
There is very little "backshine" on the reflections, it's cool. Maybe get an 100W+ uplight (Ikea has a good one for $8) with an equivalent bulb of the wattage (So a 21W+ powersaver e.g) and shut the curtains to eliminate outside shine. Just my 2 commons.
UHD doesn't really matter, just a good tripod and holding all the cards up close, not from 5 feet away.
barath4545 another suggestion is to take your stereo mic and sum it to mono for the video. The constant left right panning effect in headphones makes me dizzy.
What the fuck is an AAA movie you fucktard. Do you know how small 8k actually is? They do not film many major films with 8k Red digital cameras. They are actually cheap really. The older the cinema camera is the better. I think old panavisons from the 1930's were like 64k.
I'm glad to hear that the deck has no monetary value to you because it's so sentimental. Sometimes when watching your channel it makes me think you're in it mostly for the profit (which maybe you are nowadays) but it's nice to hear you still treasure the memories of the game from years ago.
I mean his name is Alpha Investments. This is from his channel about page "All Focused on Long term Financial growth". He's in it for the money.
sentimental ? See the title. "$30.000 deck". Who play with toploaders. Double sleeve is enough. The cards are just banknote to him.
this looks like it would've been a lot of fun too play,
this era of magic was well before i ever even knew about magic, but it was really cool to see one of your original decks! thank you for sharing!
Great video, Rudy. It was fun taking a trip back in time. I miss all the alpha and beta cards I had 23+ years ago. Keep em comin!
I'm pretty sure this is worth more than $30,000 lmfao
Nah, that's probably not a bad estimate actually. People look at things like Black Lotuses and think they are worth like 30k each but unless they are in perfect condition and from the really coveted early alpha and beta releases they aren't nearly as valuable.
yea also even if its valued at 30k that doesn't mean someone will play 30k for it
@Symqn you will be surprise that there are people willing to pay for that price, just for collector purposes.
Mitch not in todays market

I just figured out that this complete Alpha Investments channel is a huge personal flex for Rudy
Took me about 45 seconds to see that. Flexing for nerds!
Duh?
Nice deck! Love the originality! I had a Type 1 deck that used mox jet, ruby, and emerald and Lotus. Used Nether Void to lock out opponents and Mishra's Factories to beat down with. Was right after Invasion came out and I ran Blurred Mongoose and Urza's Rage cause they got around the Nether Void's extra costs. It was a lot of fun to play. Miss playing local vintage tourneys 15 years ago!
Love the style of video Rudy! It's cool to see how the game was played when it started. Keep up the good work!
Near the end of the video you really see magic player Rudy come out.
14:50. How does one return an artifact that was removed from the game with swords to ones hand with an archeologist that returns artifacts from the graveyard....? Sounds like you hoses some opponents who don’t know the rules.
Why am I commenting on a three year old video? Because Rudy’s back catalog is just that good.
I just wanted to write his comment about StP, then noticed that the video is 3yo and THEN noticed your comment :)
I don’t know a thing about magic cards but have been binge watching these videos just because of the genuine excitement the people of the videos seem to get
This was really cool to see, thanks for sharing a look into magics past.
I actually have a commander deck where Triskelion is a win con.
Rudy, let's see those modern decks from 09! Would be a good look back in the format 10 years
i like how much salt is in the comments section and people were asking for this video I'm very impressed by your deck's content and overall strategy but more so by the raw amount of time and effort to compile all of those amazing cards. So many people are moaning in the comments about how they can't get those cards and place blame on you in part if not entirely, and I don't see the point in that you had the opportunity and the ability to get these cards so kudos to you Rudy. Now the thing i want to see is you play vs the Professor that would make my day
Rudy wouldn't do it. He knows he'd get waxed.
I know this is an old video. But I would love to see more deck tech videos of your other 9 old decks Rudy! I found them really cool.
Would love to see more of your old school decks. Very fun and nostalgic video!
Opinion Question!: Hypothetically, if Planeswalkers were released when the game first came out, do you think they would still be printing Planeswalkers?
I dont play magic. Never played magic and dont even know anything about magic except what I've seen in this guys video. Dont hate me I just enjoy this guys videos some reason.
No worry Yosh, do what you love right :D
This was amazing! I hope to see more Rudy deck techs.
I really like the tone of this video. Rudy seems less stressed and seems to be genuinely enjoying talking about Magic back in the day. It's quite the change of pace from the rambling madness that are the usual uploads.
I wonder how many people didn’t pick up on the satire?
?
A great pauper deck, can't wait to try it.
That Tolarian Community College reference was so good.
I have no idea what your talking about but I am vicariously nerdin out through you! Cheers! I watch your channel all the time
Ok Rudy: when you said you would cast Swords on your own Tetravus to then bring it back again with the Archeologist you finally proved what I needed to know. I still love you as an entertainer though 😏...
he can do the same thing with the triskelion though, so it's not really a big deal. probably just slipped his mind cuz it's been so long since he played with the deck. Triskelion is the card he used to kill off/suicide his creatures. Swords is an ~options~ card. It's not a part of his main trifecta, which was triskelion, tetravus, and archeologist.
Rudy's Eternal Flex
It looks really fun.I had been looking for a cool artifact deck besides affinity and this is filled with alot of different answers for problems.
I started playing between Antiquities and Legends. I wanted to build an artifact deck so badly, but as a jobless 13-year-old who missed out on Arabian Knights and Alpha through Unlimited, making a good one was impossible. Thank you for this video!
This is literally my deck from the good ol' shandalar days...
Nice
doesn't that life swap artifact say you can only do it on your upkeep?
also, swords puts the card in exile, unable for you to reset the artifact flyer.
man does this bring me back to when i started playing awesome deck
This is awesome! I would love to see your 2009 era decks too
This intro made me laugh so hard!
"I only played with duals, no basics"
"Land tax gets me basic lands"
uhhhhh
In all fairness Rudy knows almost nothing about playing Magic.
Dual lands have basic land types ya dingus.
@@MXM194 That doesn't make them basic lands.
I'd recommend being more condescending while also being wrong next time, I think it will work better than it did this time.
@@MrSpleenface they aren't basic lands in the traditional sense, but they do count as a basic Island and forest or whatever combination
@@Kai-fq6uj They absolutely do not. They count as an island and a forest.
You can find them with Nature's Lore, Misty Rainforest, or Farseek, but not Rampant Growth, Evolving Wilds or Land Tax
This video has been in my recommendations for the past six months. I’m finally ready.
I can't wait to see your "Stasis" deck you talked about in one of your earlier vids. Started playing in the last few years and I love the prison style decks and cards that were more prominent in the early days
Dear Rudy,
Adopt me,
and be my daddy...
Magic is for anyone that loves Magic. No matter your opinion on him, at least concede that. It's damn clear how much he loves Magic, its history and the cardboard. Such perfectly preserved cards from 20-ish years ago.
That’s the same 3rd edition black lotus and moxes I have. But I didn’t discover sleeves until a few years ago
Just watched a bunch of your videos and wanted to say thanks. This shit takes me back several lifetimes...You know your shit.
Rudy , put up some god damn pants!!
He doesn't OWN any pants!
FUCK PANTS
Psh, only $30k?
I know right? Rudy, get back to us when you join the 250k club. ;)
or for the cost of Ford Focus you could play budget vintage for only 14k.
TheSushiandme Oh yeah show us your deck that's worth 30 thousand dollars or more if you can that is or if you can't then shut it.
100k? Are you nuts? He had 2 lotus's and what 6 or so moxes? You do realize those were only unlimited lotus's correct? And that they only run about 4k give or take. So you have those at well just say 5k for good measure plus the moxes that's pushing 20k maybe a little more plus the workshops at 1k a piece so you would b at around 24-25k with those and you have a candelabra thats about 600 or so. So yeah his 30k estimate for that deck is a pretty close estimate. Idk where you are pulling this 100k shit from its definitely no where near that
Basically all that power was from unlimited so it's not nearly as valuable as the alpha beta shit. 2 lotus's is 10k plus the 6 or so moxes is another 9 or 10k on top of that plus the workshops at 1k a piece (so another 4k) and a candelabra (600) plus some other shit that Def has value. 30k is definitely a good estimate by rudy for sure. You guys do realize rudy is in mtg fiance and that he does know the value of his cards
I thinks it’s awesome that you pay homage to the Prof! Love the channel, it has aged well. Posting in 2020
man you are a gem in the rough, glad i found your channel. your great!
Bet desolator magic is gonna report you to wizards for showing that deck to us.

Alpha Investments, I know you're a money guy so you may not need to hear this, but because I've had a personal experience with this, please listen.
Awhile back, a boardgamer had died. Some other family drama stuff happened, and so his entire collection of boardgames, which go for something like $60 each on retail, was put in an outdoor shed and crushed under the weight of the other boardgames. One day, the wife of this boardgamer died, and so distant family of the deceased living in another state inherited the house and its contents. The problem is, they wanted all of this stuff gone ASAP, and so they were about ready to throw all of this stuff in the dump.
My dad managed to go in and try to buy a lot of the stuff, thus preventing it all from going to the dump. Sure enough, between the board games and old RPG books (which we had thought were worthless), we made several thousand dollars off of buying the lot.
However, your stuff is clearly more valuable than several thousand dollars, since you've got 30k right there. So, my advice is you make sure your family understands the value of your collection, and also that your family knows the best way to sell the stuff so, even if they have to sell it under value to get rid of it quickly, they still get a fair amount of the value back.
Noah Engelmann excellent point here...let your loved ones know what the value of your collectables are people...what this guy saids here i see often at estate sales(family selling dead spouse/family members stuff to sell the house empty)...
why the fuck would i tell my family how much my cards are worth???? F U C K. T H A T
TL:DR get a proper Will made up.
I really liked seeing this! Rudy I bet you'd dig playing old school magic (93/94) this would fit right into the format just fine, I'm building Mono Black for it after last year's Eternal Weekend a bunch of the vintage players convinced me to build a deck. Old school even allows you to play Chaos Orb and Shahrazad.
and a quick glance in the comments I'm surprised no one mentioned this to you yet.
I now know my multiples of 3 and 6, thanks Rudy! Nice sol ring deck too! :)

Shut up jeremy.
you starting out with the prof's shtick had me spitting coffee. LOL
14:37 since path to exile removes tetrivus from the game tetrivus doesn't go to the graveyard. That means you can't bring it back with the archeologist. There was actually a control deck that removed creatures with swords and then timetwistered to remove all the creatures from the opponent's deck and play indefinitely.
Thanks for sharing your personal collection with us. I know personal this stuff can be.
