The solution seen in the beginning I believe is Aqua Regia, which is latin for “Royal Water.” It is made up of Nitric Acid and Hydrochloric Acid which can dissolve gold into a water soluble form. This proves useful as in solution gold can be easily separated from other metal contaminants such as silver, copper, etc. To drop the gold back out of solution, a small amount of Sodium Metabisulfite is added which is seen as the white powder added in the beginning. Thus the dark yellow powder that is left is fine gold particles.

You know what. Maybe you can. I worked at a bank and had a customer who didn't care if I saw inside his safety deposit box. He had 200 ounces of gold and 500 of silver. He had me stack them up in his boxes. Really nice guy. I've actually held over $1,000,000 after doing all of the deposits for the schools in my county (a couple weeks before prom and graduation). Crazy the disparity between different schools. A public high school in a wealthy area had over $50,000,000 in their account while another school 6 miles away that had students from poorer areas had about $800,000. Middle schools never had more than $500,000 and only one elementary school had more than $100,000. These accounts were for extracurricular activities, field trips, dances, proms, magnet programs for competitions, etc.

The gold guy had a lawn maintenance company and came in with all 30 of his employees on Fridays to make sure none of them had trouble cashing their checks. We had permission from the regional manager to cash the checks from his account if he was there and one of his employees didn't have ID and we never charged any fees if they didn't have an account. He had millions so the rules were different.
