  • This is my parents new Kenmore/Whirlpool HE washer with agitator model 110.22352511 (Purchased September 9th 2017). We will see how long this will last in the long run and how long it will work before it needs its first repair. I am feeling skeptical of the machine's quality. I tried to get my parents to buy a Speed Queen but it's way over their budget. This washer replaced the old Kenmore/Whirlpool direct drive from 1996.

    They save on electricity on small loads, if you have an electric hot water heater, and they save on water by sometimes under filling the tub, so for large loads that fill the tub, bulky bedding must be used. Which can compromise water, and electricity savings causing higher bills probably. Bulky bedding uses a lot of hot water. Two rinses has to be used at all times, with Tide pods.

    I have been using this washer for 3 weeks now, and I hate it. I have never had a problem with my clothes smelling but now I do. I have watched this washer fill and it is beating the crap out of my clothes. The savings from buying this machine is not going to over-ride what I will end up spending replacing clothes that were agitated while dry. I would not recommend this machine to my worst enemy.

      Definitely agree Susan. The old Whirlpool direct drives washed better and took less time to wash your clothes.

    I have the same exact washer - bought in 2016 for a really “good” deal at sears hahhah…repaired last April, and it just broke down again…having a rough time finding videos for fixing this one- the metal agitator is stripped now, and trying to fix myself…have you run into this yet? Thank you

      No surprisingly I haven't had any problems that involved laying the machine down and repairing it. To be honest with the hassle of having to take the hoses off to be able to lay the machine down to repair it then put the hoses back on hoping they won't leak after you took them out and put them back you mind as well buy a new machine with new hoses to save the hassle of worrying about if the hoses are going to leak out water or not.

    they will regret not getting a speed queen. Maybe do an update when it dies. HE is code for more problems, and a worse wash.

      Yes, I will definitely make a video if it fails so we can laugh together at the junk quality of the new whirlpool machines. I actually had to babysit this machine to see if it fills with enough water for the clothes to get washed properly. Yeah the new agitator design will definitely not help much with cleaning when comparing it to the old design. But that agitator design had to be picked after what happened with this person's washer. I don't like ours. We got it in 2017. It's been fixed twice. I don't understand all those buttons and fabric softener button.

    • @TheOriginalR
      @TheOriginalR  8 місяців тому

      Do you have the same exact model I have? If so the buttons really don't give you full control of what you want the washer to do. They give you some control but not full control. For example the deep fill or auto water fill button is useless. Because either you fill the tub all the way up or barely fill it at all. There is no medium water level.

  • @petermaz701
    @petermaz701 6 років тому +1

    The normal setting Is used for the government EPA regulations thats how the machine is judged on its energy savings so the normal cycle cannot be altered by using the deep fill settings. The normal setting uses the least amount of water across the board. I would never use that setting.

    • @TheOriginalR
      @TheOriginalR  6 років тому +1

      The crazy funny thing is the two water level settings are either extremely water savy or too water generous.

    Those HE washers really are not that efficient, or any HE washer. We used to have a Kenmore front load washer and dryer, but it got replaced with a real Maytag washer and gas dryer that works better than the front loader did.

    • @TheOriginalR
      @TheOriginalR  7 років тому +1

      Yeah, I agree. It's just a selling gimmick. This washer is either extreme water savy or not water savy depending on the settings I put it on. Basically you either have to throw a full load in or a really low low load. Otherwise it would not fill enough to wash a normal low or medium load. Disappointing to see this happen. Show how extremely ridiculous the government regulations are. I feel that Whirlpool is a victim to the EPA.

    • @seana806
      @seana806 7 років тому

      Those old Maytag washers with the deep tub use about 35 gallons of water, and those HE top load washers use WAY more water than a traditional top load washer. One water saver washers had back in the 50's 60's and early 70's had a "Suds Return". How it worked was if you pressed the "Save Suds", it would drain the wash water into a laundry room sink, and would save the water from a load of lightly soiled clothes, and when you washed a second load of clothes, the washer would siphon the water back into the washer for the second load of clothes. If you were to press the "Drain Suds" button, it would just send the wash water down the drain, and would not save the wash water. There are several videos of people who have vintage washing machines that have a Suds Return.

    • @TheOriginalR
      @TheOriginalR  7 років тому

      Hmmmm, interesting. Didn't know they made such washing machines back in the day. Now that is water efficient. But obviously this new washer uses more water than the old Kenmore because it has more cubic feet.

    • @seana806
      @seana806 7 років тому

      The reason why early automatic washers had a Suds Return is, because most housewives' were convinced that automatic washers used more water than wringer washers, and most housewives' used wringer washers and used the same tub of water for several loads.

    • @TheOriginalR
      @TheOriginalR  7 років тому

      That makes total sense. I say why not if the water is not extremely dirty.

    • @TheOriginalR
      @TheOriginalR  6 років тому +2

      Yes on the top center of the agitator there is a blue cup you can pour the fabric softener in. Or you can pour the fabric softener around on top of all your clothes in one round circle fashion.

      You would either have to buy another lid lock piece to put it in the lid lock to get it going or unscrew the one you already have on the washer door. If I was you I would just buy another lid lock piece on Amazon because you don't have to worry about putting the one on your washer door back on.
