I'm new to sewing so I'm trying to understand technique choices. If I understand correctly, you sewed the sides with the wrong sides together after you add the zipper. This would leave raw edges exposed is that right? However, the seams did appear to look finished and neat nevertheless, so is that due to the fabric used? Just hoping to make sense of why this step wouldn't be done wtih right sides togetherand then turned inside out. I appreciate the guidance!

If you watch the tutorial carefully, in the beginning, you will see that I placed the two bag body pieces right sides together and I sewed a quarter of an inch seam allowance all the way around leaving an opening. I turned that right sides out and that is what gives the finished edge to the bag.
