This cover story has spoilers for Kirby's Return to Dreamland and its character, Magolor.
Magolor is a particularly interesting character because he offers us insight into Halcandra, the home of the Ancients. This is a universe filled with magic and technology (a lot of which might lead to one's demise if one isn't careful) and the Ancients are said to be the source.

At 2:54 you have Hereos instead of Heroes... uh... can’t think of any other criticisms. Great job. I can easily see the lore building, and the music is great, too. Only question is that you mentioned a lance when Magolor sought to defeat Landia. Is this symbolic? To my knowledge, Magolor never used a lance. Just wondering.
I got a question....do all these youtubers use arranged video game music to avoid copyright infringement so that they can monetize it? or just because? I wish to play music as well but I dont know if it's safe to play over complete original video game songs and monetize it.

^ 1. Love this line, and 2. If I'm understanding the story right, are you implying that the crown is comprised of material that itself has an innate consciousness with its own goals and emotions? This as opposed to merely being possessed by a malevolent entity or being a neutral but powerful object the selfish Magolor uses nefariously.
If so, I like that interpretation (as well as your more humanistic interpretation of Magolor's character). I wonder then how the crown fits with the dragon Landia. Did Landia, knowing of the crown's consciousness and power, seek to contain it from wreaking havoc onto the world? Or, conversely, does the crown recognize Landia's pure intent, feel contented by how Landia is using it, and thus elect to work with the dragon rather than overpowering it with its consciousness? Or is Landia just that mentally powerful that it has dominion over the crown?

The Kirby series is full of wonderful enigmas that, due to the relative lack of dialog (though in this game Magolor speaks) are left open to interpretation. Thanks for always sharing your fascination with these ideas.
Yes; in this lore series, the universe itself (and therefore all matter and energy within it) has varying levels of consciousness. Various technologies or "magical" artifacts like the crown (but also, the mirror from my Moonstruck Blossom cover or the clockwork star from Haltmann) have been created without respecting that consciousness.
In the game, Landia is definitely trying to prevent the crown from trying to wreak havoc. But I definitely do think there's something more to the pure intent hypothesis -- this especially would help make sense of why Kirby is uniquely positioned to save the day whenever shenanigans occur.

I don’t know how this can help, but in Kirby planet robobot a separate mini game, a sort of rpg Kirby game, one of the bosses is landia.
Landia protects the crown, but after being dominated by the Kirby team, the crown possessed landia, and he blinded by his power, seek the destruction of the Kirby team.
*This might be the best story yet.*

Can't help but just... move my hands out, feeling that pooweerrrr shudder through my limbs as the percussion pick up!
(On another note, I guess that's why this is my favorite song as far as the Kirby goes. You can feel a flux of emotions in this piece. An ambitious piece for an ambitious man!)

I love watching these Kirby cover stories because they always remind me how deep the Kriby lore can be when you look past the surface. This one makes me wish I had RtDL for myself to play for more context, but it's good regardless. Keep it up, these are just getting better and better!

Outside of the very first game ("oh man stop that mean dedede from stealing our food") Kirby games have pretty consistently had some dark stuff in the background.
Adventure: nightmare trying to corrupt the dreams of the universe.
Dream Land 2: dark matter wants to do Bad Stuff to the universe
Super star: almost exactly the same plot as this video lol, except the guy wasn't possessed by evil.

Kirby Canvas Course: A misterious paint called Drawcia just take life because of hate, and do villian stuff until Kirby finally defeats her. Related with Dark Matter? maybe.
Kirby Squeak Squad: Dark Nebula get free, and he prepares to destroy everything, but Kirby stops him. Oh, also he's somehow related with Dark Matter.
Kirby's Epic Yarn: Zur-Zir do villian stuff, Kirby stops him and....... Maybe this one is not sooo interesting, NEXT!
Kirby Mass Atack: Necrodeus and it's gang not only do generic villian stuff, they literilly KILL a LOT of the tiny Kirbys, basically Necrodeus almost won, MULTIPLE TIMES.
Kirby's Return To Dream Land: *THIS VIDEO*
Kirby Triple Deluxe: Dark Meta Knight corrupted the mind and body of Sectonia until she becames the giant monster we know and the best Taranza can do is let Kirby kill the person he once love, everything because he wanted give her a stupid mirror. *Tries not to cry*
Kirby Rainbow Course: Dark Matte- i mean Crafter! posseses Claisia, villian stuff, bla bla bla, Kirby save her and defeats Dark Crafter (i don't know much well the story of this one)
Kirby Planet Robobot: Haltmann is corrupted by excesive use of Star Dream, in a desesperate try to see his daughter (Susi) one last time, and when he did, he didn't remembers her because his mind was already broken. At the end Susi have no other choice that let Kirby kill her's own father. Very similar to what happens to Sectonia and Taranza... *Tries not to cry, again*

YES. I really like the reorchestrated sound -- sax + orchestra is definitely my aesthetic, but I haven't even had the time to really arrange a full orchestration, so I would definitely be interested in any collaboration on that.
I enjoyed this! Judging from the other Kirby covers, it seems that Dark Matter is the ultimate villain of this story (or at least a big part of it).
I definitely wanted to incorporate more of the Dark Matter trilogy throughout the rest of the games, and it seems to fit extremely well :D

I'm having an absolute field trip with the lore you're building up regarding to dark matter and how it is a conscious and feeling part of the universe that just,, fits so nicely with what HAL has given us so far like wow, absolutely astonishing work, as always

Is really awesome to see the Kirby lore transformed into a story, however, sometimes feels weird to read something in a music video that doesn't always matches with rhythm of the song. Nice job! I like the first person interpretation of Magolor's history within KRtDL's lore! Overall this cover is more chill than the original, which lends itself well to casual listening. I like it!
I actually have another version of this piece that I want to work with some other folks on that will really turn the style on its head. It'll take casual to the max. But it'll also take a long time to complete since it's verrry different than how i normally do things

I've been doing the stories for a while with a lot of different game series because honestly I felt like it was more interesting than just having a video of me playing music. 😅
But seriously, I love video game lore videos and this gave me an opportunity to do a bit of that myself. I like taking things and twisting them around, so taking various villains and rethinking their motivations and desires made a lot of sense to me. The Kirby villains are some of the best to work with because a lot of the lore is there, hinted in the info screens, but people underestimate the series because it's "cute".

Did you see the Halberd and Heavy Lobster? Or the Dededestroyer Z or HR-D3? the technology built for it was ancient technology. Also I love your covers and the storytelling in them, and the little references to parts of the lore are incredible, good work
haha, you're ripping holes into my fan theorizing. I actually wanted to look up more information regarding the Halberd in particular, because I thought the case could be made that it is ancient. I kinda like the idea of Popstar/Kirby's world as being this sort of "backwater" area with a bunch of magical/tech artifacts that they don't understand the full purpose.
but ultimately, I think it's OK even if they are technologically advanced -- I ultimately want to differentiate the magical side from the technology side and I can rely on other characters/stories for that (e.g., Haltmann on technology, Magolor as bridge between technology and magic, my upcoming Drawcia sorceress will be on the magic side, and then I have a few more ideas too :) Definitely hope you'll stick around!
@@subversiveasset Interesting, It's likely that Popstar has some technology that not everyone can fully understand, like the Halberd or things like that. Also I thought the same thing about Magolor being in between magic and technology while Haltman being just about technology and Taranza/Sectonia about magic a few moments ago when I was watching your other Kirby covers. "It is not the prince that defeats the dragon at all... but the knights that serve the prince!" _How did you word Magolor's plan so perfectly?_ Dissapointed that there's no Drum Dash Deluxe tempo in here, but the OG is slower, after all. It's faithful to RtDL's.
Gonna take this moment to say that yes, a Marx cover from you would be stellar, no matter how long it'd take. Maybe just your sax and traditional captions would suffice. I know you like to experiment with covers, but your basic format is still really decent as well.

Saw this in my recommended after finally getting 100% on Dreamland 3 (my first Kirby game) and this was a genuine surprise to see another Kirby cover, may not be from Dreamland 3, but It's still good.

Those stories you write are so, SO genuinely artistic! And I feel it genuinely nailed Magolor’s viewpoint, and I appreciate how you incorporated the elements of the classic hero’s tale into this!
In the future, it’d be amazing if you did another one of these, but with the Song of Supplication (AKA the recurring theme that plays in the themes of the Jambastion Mages and Void Termina), perhaps from Zan Partizanne’s point of view as she recalls how she and the Jambandrans were banished, whilst describing her futile, one-sided devotion to the abusive and insane Hyness, blinded by his lies. For some inspiration, I’d like to mention that some pause descriptions for the three generals (you can find them in the Kirby wiki) include lyrics of them singing to Void Termina for assistance, only to lament that they’re ‘just a dream’ without him.
I want to get into Star Allies stuff eventually, but I am also very sensitive to the concerns about discussing spoiler-ific topics so soon after release, so that's why I've mostly stuck to games that have been out for a while. Lots of great lore speculation that was revealed/confirmed with Star Allies, though

@@femo3336 ooh, that's a good question. I haven't really thought of this. I would think that easy would also need to be balanced by inexpensive as well. I would probably say something like a basic xylophone, ukulele, or maybe a recorder for those.

I'd say the ones I mentioned are still easy to learn. If I had to add a few others, I actually think sax is pretty easy to learn (compared to other woodwinds), but it's also expensive

That’s probably the best hoodie to chroma key lol. These stories never cease to impress. Sorry if this has been asked before, but do you arrange the non-sax parts as well?
Yep, I do! There are some cases when I can leverage off an existing arrangement, but even then, I will still make changes to fit what I want to do with the arrangement, and program virtual instrumentation to the non-sax parts as appropriate.
But a lot of times (especially when I'm covering less popular tracks), there won't be any arrangements available for any instrumentation, so I have to arrange it all from ear. It's probably the most time consuming part for most of these covers.
That's a lot of dedication. Keep up the good work and I hope you get more subs!

I tried to recreate CROWNED on the piano but the first part with the rapid hitting of one note just caught me. It feels so epic, though, so I'll probably come back to it when I have more experience with the piano overall.
THE REPEATING NOTES WERE SO HARD. For the sax parts, I had to slow the piece down to 60% speed and then practice my way up, day by day, for my tongue to move quickly enough.

Definitely have a concept for Marx's theme in my head -- I just don't know how I'm going to do it since I want it to be like...metal. with sax. So, I'll probably have to ask some guitar friends for advice :D

Hyness uses the void termina vessel to gain revenge on the universe for sealing him and the generals away. The vessel was unfinished, and HYNESS and the others sacrificed themselves for their dark lord to rise.
Once void termina is defeated, HYNESS once agian releases the vessel. It is now known as void soul. This vessel is unknown of what it is doing and thrashed out. The poor thing is being abused and used by HYNESS for his selfish intent. Void soul now sees Kirby, dreaming of what it is like for naps and treats. Depending on what positive or negative energy is formed is if the vessel will be good or not. Gathering pink hearts may turn it into a friend but HYNESS is gathering the bad hearts to corrupt and use the vessel under his own will.
Hyness filled with rage of being defeated over and over, summons the void and corrupts everything around it, including himself. Void now yearns for love and affection. Will void once agian rise... as a friend? It smiles as it dies knowing one day. It possibly will come back. As a friend.

I don't know if it's because of the style you've been using, but your covers lately have been really busy to the point of making it tough to listen to and they are starting to sound a bit too stylistically similar (granted, it may just be the fact that you've been doing a lot of Kirby music and I'm more on the side of the music and less the story stuff). I don't know man, I miss your more simple style that you used to have. It just sounds so oversaturated now. Your playing is still solid, though!
which covers do you think were the best representatives of the simple style, btw? I personally see the style evolution as progress, but I do sometimes get feedback from my musician beta-testers that sometimes my arrangements can be too dense.
I'm referring to mainly your undertale stuff. Things in that time frame. It just sounds like you're putting extraneous layers into things and the instruments don't necessarily mesh well together. That's all. I think it's just a matter of timbre choices that's throwing me off.
Ahh, I see. The undertale stuff was waaaaay long ago; a much "simpler" time indeed. I will consider on instrument timbre choices (since it's not something I've paid too much attention to so far), but I probably won't go back to the simplicity of Undertale era arrangements.
Maybe it's just the density of so many VSTs. It just doesn't feel as raw and real anymore. Something is just off...Production value is increasing, obviously, but it just feels more...processed and less expressive. It's hard to describe.

"Recommended" tab? Do you mean the home page or the subscriptions page? If you're just counting on home page recommendations, then there's no guarantee -- the best place is subscriptions page and to subscribe.
If you have "rung the bell" and can show that you didn't get a notification on May 4th, take a screenshot and I'll forward it to UA-cam via twitter.
i mean't the subscriptions page sorry for the confusion but to be honest i only get notified on comments,but for videos it works sometimes and doesn't work other times. i'll see if i can get a screenshot for understanding or maybe even a fix to this problem.

For notifications, on desktop, if you go to channel icon -> settings -> notifications, what are all of the boxes checked for "Comments & Activity"? There should be 4 boxes, and they should all be checked.
i am on desktop and all of my boxes are checked so i assume it's a glitch on there part. i think i'll try refreshing the notification bell for all of my channels even the one that i know notify me just to see if that will fix my problem.
What you should do is take screenshots to show:
1) You already had the bell rung
2) You can see a new video on the channel
3) You can see that you did not get a notification in the notification bell.
Then send that to @TeamUA-cam on twitter.
Same thing with subscription tab, if you can get screenshots in time.

Have you considered moving the text from top to bottom? Being used to subtitles at the bottom I find it a bit hard to keep up with reading it, and it feels somewhat exhausting to watch. Perhaps it would also be worth a thought to put the text inside the video, like actual Bluray or DVD subtitles. That would make it even easier to read, although I can understand your reasoning for not having the text inside the screen.
Click on the CC button on the UA-cam screen -- I always include closed captions with the video that are identical to the open captions that are "burned in" to the screen. The closed captions appear at the bottom, like you would expect. Unfortunately, since people don't tend to have closed captions turned on by default, I do have the open captions up at top as well.
Ah that makes sense. Thanks, I never enable those CCs as they are usually only auto-transcribed and tend to be more or less nonsense because the program can't get it done right.
I don't know the setting to do it, but I somehow have it set where CCs are set to turn on automatically, but only if they were manually created. So, they don't turn on for videos with automatic CCs, but do for videos with manually edited CCs.
