The stunt driving was absolutely fantastic. But it's true that absolutely none of the entire shenanigans made the LEAST bit of sense. 🙂 Also, I love how much input K.I.T.T. offered. 🙄 Very in-character for him to be so bloody silent.

@@peterhewitt3956 cars are not made to jump, blows out their suspension and other internal damage. Dukes had trouble finding cars and parts as the car was discontinued and there was less and less.

Such was handled by stunt doubles who took a proverbial bullet for John & Tom. John Schneider himself never jumped a General Lee until he was 59yrs old...albeit a low jump. When The DOH Film of 2K was made with Johnny Knoxville & Sean William Scott playing the Duke Boys, 30 General Lees were available to do the film...15 bought the farm. @@bohoward8945 The buggy you're mentioning was VW Bettle based and had coil springs in the back. I know of this car, because it was mentioned many times. But nobody ever mentioned the leaf springs flivver car. I've watched this show like 10 times in full. I suspect this is a tubular frame buggy, but it's not the car mentioned by Knight Rider Historians.

What I think has happened here, they didn't have a spare Firebird to crash, and the dune buggy flivver would have landed on the back and be unpredictable in such a long flight. So the made heavier front engine special to have something that will fly predictably and nose-dive to save the stuntman. I'd like to see the photos from after landing to see how it was built. Too stiff tubular body would have wrecked the stuntment as well. It must have been something flexible to absorb energy of the hit. Front take from monocoque steel regular car, or this thing was built over a frame taken from body-on-frame car, and they just stick a roll cage onto it.

There’s another UA-cam channel that talked about how they did some of the stunts. I believe they had a dune buggy with a KITT shell they used for some of the jumps.
I can't say anything about KITT, KITT, more than 30 years ago, had predicted what is going on today, like GPS, bluetooth, smart watch, auto drive, and design of car never fades away..wonderful 🤔

If you mean for this particular scene, honestly they could've gotten thru filming this scene not having used many cars, think about it... Film all the non major stunt scenes first, then film the jump scene, that way you're done filming with it before it's totaled
this one episode is the one I hate the most. I know FLAG is all about law and government but Michael broke the law by braking out of Jail and didn't get arrested for it .😡

That turbo boost jump didn't actually end well at all (look at 3:55) but of course they cut it out. :)
