    how do you get your sublimination printer to print white and be so vibrant? I do not get white when printing sublimation inks. Is there a secret to this and getting the white to show up on the acrylic? Thanks

    I have tried to sublimate onto Acrylic cast 200mm x 200mm x 20mm thick @ 180c for 180 secs, I am getting a white blob in the middle of 2 images as they are left and right of centre and my images are faded, am I dong anything wrong. Thank you for a great video tutorial.

      You should search around for acrylic manufacturers and when you speak with them ask them for CAST acrylic

    when using the translucent spray is the print applied to the side that has the spray on it or the non- sprayed side? It was not clear as to which side the print was applied to on the video.

    • @PaulHirst2
      @PaulHirst2 3 роки тому +1

      with the translucent white spray this allows the image to go through it so you spray the side you want the image on and press the image through it

    What are you using as a base under the acrylic in the oven. My oven keeps marking the other side of the acrylic.

    • @PaulHirst2
      @PaulHirst2 3 роки тому +2

      We just use a thick piece of ply or a clean metal baking tray. Don't stand the acrylic on the oven shelf itself as the bars will heat up and leave marks

  • @inspiro_wizard

    I have so many questions. Do you have to use the clear sublimation coat with the translucent coat in method 2? Is the curing in the oven required or can you let it cure by itself?

    • @SoleJuice
      @SoleJuice  3 роки тому +1

      For method 2 no you don't have to use the clear coating but, and this is important! You have to make sure you are using cast acrylic as this is naturally sublimation receptive. Therefore if you use the translucent (pass through) white the inks go through the white and into the acrylic. If you use extruded acrylic it will fail.

      @@SoleJuice aw that sucks, I just bought a bunch of acrylic from Home Depot. I researched it and it's extruded 😅
      Thanks for the tips tho, I already ordered the transparent and opaque subli glaze l, I just need to find a vendor for clear cast acrylic now

      Hi Stephen... We don't recommend our coatings for use on shirts I'm afraid as coatings will wash out of cottons after a couple of washes

    Does it have to be cast acrylic?

    • @SoleJuice
      @SoleJuice  2 роки тому

      Hi Estela, yes it does for sublimation. Extruded acrylic in general won't stand the heat of sublimation transfer, it could melt of deform whereas cast acrylic does stand the heat to allow for image transfer under a heat press.

    Can this be done with KYDEX?

    • @PaulHirst2
      @PaulHirst2 4 роки тому +1

      Looking at Kydex you would probably need to use the standard clear coating and sublimate to that as I dont think Kydex is naturally sublimatable but it should work

    • @custom_gear1035
      @custom_gear1035 4 роки тому

      @@PaulHirst2 Hmm, I just read up on Subliglaze and all of them require that after the object has been treated, it be placed in oven at 160 celcius for up to 20mins. Doing that with kydex is not possible, at least not for such a long period of time.

    • @PaulHirst2
      @PaulHirst2 4 роки тому

      @@custom_gear1035 You can cure products that are more susceptible to heat at lower temperatures for instance mobile phone cases made from plastic are sublimatated at 148 c just for longer. Also thickness of product makes a difference in the video you can see a 4 mm piece of acrylic is used which when finished bends however when left to cool we shape it or place weight on it to keep it flat. Send a sample through happy to test for you

    Hi with the white opaque spray method wont we have a permanent white coating from behind ?

    • @PaulHirst2
      @PaulHirst2 3 роки тому

      If you use the opaque white on the back you would do it after you image the cast acrylic and yes it would be permanent as it would give your image the vibrancy it needs. If you use the translucent coating you apply this first and then the sublimation inks pass through it Hope that helps

      Heavy pressure

    • @peterswain7494
      @peterswain7494 4 роки тому +1

      If you are using 15mm to 25mm thick pieces, preheat the reverse side of the piece you only need a medium pressure. If you are pressing the thinner pieces for curving you will not have to pre-heat.

  • @nightwingcreations

    I don't think that's how the white spray is supposed to be used....I mean if you are just using for white after you've already sublimated, you may as well use spray paint.
