Nice video. I finally see someone who wades like me -- always falling forward! I've bashed my knuckles on rocks so many times. I guess I'm always so excited to get to the next cast that I go a little too fast. Lots of boulders and rocks in our Sierra Nevada rivers and creeks, too.
So much good in this video and thanks a ton for making it and sharing it. Among so many other things I picked-up, I just noticed how you attach your net and I'm on it immediately lol. Cheers from Oregon USA mate. Beautiful River and beautiful country you live in
I'm confused on the "blood knot". In America, that is called a "clinch knot" and the "blood knot" is when you tie 2 pieces of line together. Great video!
Cracking video, from the set-up to the scary wading in ankle breaking water and the various quary that made it a watchable video . Thanks . Pete, Yorkshire UK👌🏻
That is a tough river to wade! Good god, man. Huge boulders, strong currents, then when he went downstream after that fish - I would've went down for sure. LOL. I would've chased that fish too, btw. Beautiful.
@@ManicTackle Bugger! A tad out there! Unfortunately the furthest south I have fished is the Tongariro😢 will have to change that if I ever get the chance to return to NZ
Dang the abuse that Lamson reel has seen is a real testament to it's durability as a cast aluminum reel I have the Lamson remix reel that uses the liquid spools but with a CNC aluminum body
yeah thats what they call it....cause its a half blood knot but its really an improved clinch knot. Im a BC native currently Living and fly fishing South Island NZ
What regulations are you talking about ? I have fished al lot of competittions. I fished the world championship in Bosnië a couple of years ago. According to fips mouche regulations we could not use a leader, more than twice the rod length. And with leader they ment the piece between flyline and fly. The clear segment is also something i've never heard of..🤔 Nice video by the way😎👍
I learned a lot! I was debating a 3 wt 10' or a 4 wt 10' and now I'm realizing that where I am in NY the 3 wt will serve me just fine!
Most #3's will turn heads of fish up to 3 pound. Once you start going above that the Primal Zone #4 will cover everything else.
Not sure which impressed me more your Mountain Goat like ability to stay upright or the whopping rainbow trout. Thanks for the feature.
Both are required elements for a day on the river :)

Can you tell me what size line the reel is. Ive looked at them and they come in several sizes?
Mate, what Airflo zero weight fly line is it that you mentioned?
Which river are you fishing? it looks very much like the Ohinemuri river as it goes through the Karangahake gorge ??
Hi Kevin, keep heading south a bit mate, it's the mighty Whanganui.

They go good that's for sure!
Looks like a clinch knot to me attaching tippet ring & fly, I guess in NZ a clinch knot is called a blood knot??

What river is that?
Ok, so double nymphing is the way to go, going to go exclusive
Are those neoprene leggings your wearing ?
Hi Robin, no, just good old Simms Core base layers!
Those red shorts!

Lubin is fishing in New Zealand waters in this video. We have definite regulations regarding line set up for this style of fishing....
Netting every single minnow with an enormous net is so bizarre. No need to even touch the fish...
You should NEVER turn your back to the river current...
mate,,your nymphs are backwards in your box...just sayin
Cracky mate … caint understand the centimeter or millimeter…. Blymee mate !
Struth!
