These are by far and away both the best and most entertaining content you have ever made. I don't doubt it takes a TON of time and effort, but your killing it man and the effort is apparent and appreciated. Been watching since just before steam release and I'll be watching much more if this is what you continue doing :)
I know why the dwarves combusted. The pure heat of flowing lava above and around him heated his room set him ablaze. Thet couldn't escape the heat because they where sleeping during the cooking
In stream, Blind mentioned that maybe they got put on some clothing (which doesn't reset its temp from when they were removed) and got dressed in litterally molten clothing.
@@Ebrothr3 This, there's some shots of burning clothing and equipment behind the gate, if a dwarf decided that was some really hot fashion, he might end up a BBQ crisp
Not gonna lie, this is my favorite format for Dwarf Fortress videos/recaps; not only is it a great way to condense dozens of streaming hours into a coherent whole (sorta like highlight compilations but more story-focused), it shows off why DF is still the best story-generating game ever by creating a entire narrative based on odd/goofy things in the game. It really does feel like there aren't enough DF playthrough compilations like this and the GodlyTombs video, and it's honestly a great way to bring new players into this otherwise-overwhelming game. Thanks for making these even if it's a ton of work, this turrned out amazing once again!
It reminds me of the old-school Dwarf Fort story threads, when forums were still the more popular way to socialize online. I know they're still around, but making those stories as a narrated video is such a treat.
Love seeing you make these more heavily-edited videos, very fun way to experience Dwarven Fortresses. It really highlights all the story generation features that make Dwarf Fortress such a magical game
BRO, I literally, about 5 minutes ago finished Fable for the 20,000th time. I decided I'd watch this while I look for something else to play. Then I see you. You're mad because I threw away your mask, aren't you?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ( I also finished fable the lost chapters a humongous amount of times, still one of my favorite game to this day ) @@dylanmonstrum1538
Man, what a good story. I love that over the course of this the cult actually managed to take over the faction. What a fun way to build up a fortress with an emergent story. Thank you for all the hard work it took to put this together. I greatly enjoyed it.
I like it when you stitch together your sessions of playing the game and telling the story in the most candid form possible. This is amazing. The thing I notice what you do compared to other people who attempt to do this kind of content, is you actually know the ins and outs of how to achieve nearly anything you want, while I see other people embellish or try to craft a narrative around the game that isn't actually happening. You do it, and it's amazing watching every step of the way.
I feel that dwarf fortress is fantasy madlibs with a game play element. Personally I like the fact that people can get enjoyment out of embellishing a story together. Sometimes I see people simply withholding details as kruggs or hoodie hair often do. I think what you might be encountering is people seeing dwarf fortress as and end but miss the means. They see content like this and try and produce it without the base knowlage of how to get the most out of the game. I suppose my advantage is I have been playing this game for thousands of hours so its not even something I need to think about.. I just see through the matrix.
This was fucking amazing I loved the last one too. I'm SO happy you're doing these You give me SO many ideas, have given me SO much inspiration. Thank you!
Loving this format; hits the perfect balance between story-telling and giving me some ideas on how to direct and supplement my own fortress as I learn DF. Hope the algorithm continues to shine favorably on your channel 🤞🏻
Loving these recap videos! Im sure they're a ridiculous amount of work but they're so good. I try to watch the vods when i can, but often only get 1-3 parts in
A fantastic job! Your storytelling, combined with your ability to explain things in an engaging and clear way, makes these videos truly enjoyable. Great work!
I really enjoy your story telling, I love when you take notes of things to help discribe the scene like missing limbs or taking time to show the descriptions of involved npcs.
96 hours of gameplay put into a one hour consensed S tier video, Crazy. It's remarkable how fast you poop out the vids, damn. Keep it up man! Best DF CC around by far
Comment for that algorithm! This was amazing, as a very crude beginner dipping my pinky into DF I am astounded and seduced by the idea of using lava as a defense mechanism. Great storytelling as well! 10/10 video :)
Great video, really enjoyed the wall of lava improvement. Also it's amazing how many goblins could make it through the initial magma shotgun, it felt like Tyranid invasion from Warhammer 40k with how many goblins were there and how they just pushed through their losses in the first sieges. I am also glad I watched till the very last second, that Paramount opening you did is hilarious.
That was really enjoyable to watch. Your ability to weave a story from what the game is doing is commendable. I really need to get back into this game in some depth.
Delightful. I don't always have time to watch the long VODs, so these one hour recaps are perfect for the mid day lunch idle at work. Glory to you and your fortress, may the Bonk ever be on your side.
I absolutely love these big recaps you are doing. They are very well done and I can tell that this must take FOREVER to edit and put together. Well done they're great!
This honestly was an amazing video. So much fun watching it grow and evolve. Love the story, and seeing all the crazy contraptions eventually obliterate the goblins. Totally was amazing. Keep this up if you can.
This was really fantastic to watch. Than you so much for sharing this with the world. Someday I’ll sit down and start marking some fortresses! Looking forward to watching your other (and future!) work.
Amazing work. We can tell how long these take to make but they will stand the test of time. Not only are there interesting narratives, but you're also teaching us about the game while you do it. There isn't anything else like it.
I'll be honest. I don't watch a ton of content outside of dwarf fort content. This is me mostly watching a bunch of ambiguous amphibian and thinking about how I could put my own spin on condensed playthrough videos.
The narrative aspect of games like DF and Rimworld is honestly I think what keeps me playing them, sure the gameplay is good and i like colony sims and complex games and minmaxing but without the stories I don't think I would have put nearly as much time into these games as I have (coming up on 800 hours of Rimworld terrifyingly fast)
please do more more of these cuts of your long playthroughs into stories. They are currently my favorite form of entertainment and i only have these two.

Issue there is keeping the pacing interesting and the content varied. Sure I could have put a dozen more sieges in there but they get repetitive. I'll work on it.

Dwarf fortress doesn't work like that
@@Ebrothr3 This, there's some shots of burning clothing and equipment behind the gate, if a dwarf decided that was some really hot fashion, he might end up a BBQ crisp
It wouldn't get hot enough to set that dwarf ablaze even if every title near the bedroom was filled with magma, and there was no magma nearby

I mean his godlytombs video got me into playing the game so yeah I agree
Search for kruggsmash's videos if you need more dwarf fortress stories.
It's just too time consuming to edit while telling a good story. Blind does a great job at it.
Did you hear the one about the cult and the volcano?

tbh I was super worried I would not get the noble replacement but almost shouted when the second queen showed up.
my girlfriend made FUN of me for pronouncing ascii as 'ass-key' but LOOK! the dwarfress man says it the same way!
How does she think it should be pronounced?
@@BubbleBeeeeprobably "ass-see", which is honestly how I thought it was pronounced until now
Tbf that's how I've almost always heard it pronounced
ASCII is short for American Standard Code for Information Interchange, so you pronounce the C as in Code.
I think everyone says it "askey". Close to 100%
The amount of added sound effects and special visuals for this one we're really good. I lost it at the walking grill.
Glad you liked it. I was worried that one would not land.
50:47 I love the callback to the Blockade, a godsend for those dwarves
Had to cram that in there somewhere.
I was building a religious fort in this very weeks. I didn't think of separating the heathens from the believers though, I'm going to try that.

Im not a stream/vod watcher, so i only see your edited content here on UA-cam.
