Upgrading to the Duotone Evo SLS Kite has been a game-changer for our kiting experience. Not only are we upgrading from old gear, the Evo has proven to give us unparalleled performance, quite literally transforming our skills and enjoyment on the water. We both were pretty plateaued with our progression, until we got on the new Evos. Our quiver consists of an 8, 10, and 13 and the 10 is our most used kite, as one of us is always on it. (Tyson is 6’0, 190 pounds and I’m 5’10, 155 pounds and our most common winds are in the 15-28 mph range).
The Duotone Evo SLS (Strong Light Superior) is engineered for top-tier performance. The use of Penta TX material makes the kite significantly lighter and more durable than standard models. We’ve found that, especially over our old kites, the reduced weight helps significantly in lighter winds. Overall, the Evos have provided us more consistent performance across various wind conditions.
For us, the versatility of the Evo is key. Tyson is a bit more progressed than I am, however the kite is perfect for both of us. It’s not aggressive, and it’s friendly when trying new tricks. It’s given me such a boost in confidence while learning backrolls because it is very stable. On our old kites, we either had a lack of responsiveness, or one kite that was not great for learning and would want to move all over the place even with small inputs. The three-strut design offers a perfect balance between stability and agility, making it suitable for kiters of all levels and disciplines. We can attest to this hands down, 100%. The steering is direct and precise and paired with the Click Bar, is truly the ultimate setup.
The power and lift generated by the Evo SLS is truly impressive. The kite delivers smooth, predictable power, which is crucial for building confidence and advancing skills. The improved lift and hang time have taken our jumps to new heights and the level of confidence gained on tricks is unmatched.
