- Quick Play Thru on all 3 channels. This amp was a little tough to record. Sounded MUCH better in the room. I will work on mic placement for an update video. Nice amp. Very versatile.
Playing an ESP Horizon NT-II thru a Bogner Uberkab. Pickups are Arcane Inc.
Great demo. You're one of my favorite guitarists on youtube, thanks for posting.
dude. thank you!
Same
The clean on this amp is amazing. I highly recommend this amp.
you can get the same clean sound with a mark v25 for 1/3 of the cost.
@@71N1S4 But not the rest of the amp for a 1/3 of the cost.
Your channel is a great tool to actually hear the amp breath were some of us cant find a store that even stocks these fine pieces. I ordered my Twin Jet and Ultra Lead without even touching them.
Fantastic sounding amplifier! Killer chops!
Anything Reza touches sounds gold!
I greatly prefer this to the VH4.
One amp to slay them all! I love mine. Nice demo!
I believe that is the best metal amp made. Though i like Diezel and EVH also, this one smokes!
bogner ubershall is top but this is second
@@adamkatona7784 all of these amps you guys mentioned are great . But I’ll go Wizard MTL2
@@adamkatona7784 This is better
You always make an amp sounds right ,not just good !
That sounds damned good Reza. Sounds like it has a little more midrange meat than a Mark V.
Sweet sounds and killer playing right there, bravo👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
thank you!
Love my JP-2C, such an amazing amp.
I have 2 Triaxis, an ADA MP-1 3TM and a JMP-1 preamp on a huge rig with more than 30 super heavy metal tones....HOWEVER....I CAN'T RESIST the GAS with this one!!!! MUST..BUY.....AMP!!!!
I own the road king V2 head and Road King cabinets, and an Electra Dyne 2 x 12. I must have this head! I've been into mesas since they made the original. I've been looking at this. Thank you for this demo. Looking forward to your update by the way. I'm combing through demos because I can't find one around here. I'll just going to have to buy one from Mesa as usual and just wait for it LOL. Thanks brother!
the leads sound great with delay on this amp
the only Mesa that sounds good to my ears
@Fretboard Burner i like it how you didnt even try it and you're saying its shit. Says everything we need to know. probably just jealous you cant afford one
Fretboard Burner dude you know that this is a legit 2c+ right? It compares perfectly to the originals
@Fretboard Burner it tells us you don’t know how to manage money. Friedman amps are wildly overpriced and not worth the money. Congrats on pissing all that cash away.
Clean effected and lead were great, the rythm had that weird semi flubby semi buzz hollowness going on, I bet it sounded great in the room though, they have a great reputation.
SRV would've loved this liddle bastard! Great harmonic overtones. This is "the" Swiss Army Knife of ALL amps currently on the market. Gonna be tuff for next Gen to top this. I believe analogue has reached its' peak!
Most amazing amp in the planet. The only tone I've never been able to coax out of a Mark is a good Plexi sound. Beyond that, it can do anything.
Reza, at 2:56 when you switch to channel 2, was gain pulled or pushed?
Finally someone who doesn’t just crank the gain the whole time
Fucken A man... was wondering about this amp too! You are the man!
it has everything you could ever need in an amp which is why the price is what it is........................................
Sounds soooo good!!
Awesome vid mate👍
what delay and speakers please?
Really need to set the pre eq up right lol bass and middle down on the knobs. Makes the amp way tighter
Great cleans, I never got the cleans that nice on my mark IV :/
Hey mate, would love to hear what tones you could get out of a makk v 35
New upload! Fuck yeah! Thx man
Not sure if you are aware but you shouldn't run the bass over 9 o'clock or it will sound flubby.
Great demo! Is that a bogner 2x12 cab w v30s?
Bogner 4x12
bass sounds pretty flubby for a mark series. you need to turn the bass down at the preeq stage and then turn it back up with the graphic equaliser.
Exactly what I thought even before listening... But it sounds great though!
doesnt sound flubby here....
If this is flubby, then I need to know what amp is tight for you lol. Last time i checked amps were not supposed to be like nuns...
I agree Nikolas. This is not generally how you dial in a Mark for the best sounds. Take bass out of the preamp and add it back in with the graphic EQ. The other Mark IIC++ video on this channel also sounds bloated and fizzy. Marks are not the most intuitive amps to dial in but once you figure them out it can be very worth it.
Dan 2c plus 😂😂😂
More fizz than a 7-11!
Reza.. how do you compare this to c+ in mark V? I already have Mark V. Curious about your thoughts. Thanks
i think this is just a mark v with some extras
What delay / reverb effect did you use on the clean channel at the beginning? It sounds awesome.
Strymon!
@@RezaMatix Which Strymon BTW! Timeline?
sadly that mic placement update video never happened
yea, amp was sold and gone soon after
How close would you say this is to an Original 2C+ after playing both?
not very close at all.
@@RezaMatix Thought so lol...
Well damn...that sucks! There goes that idea. They made em, how come they can't make em sound like they did?
John Petrucci crafted this amp based on his favorite 2C+ amps. I don't think there's a single old 2C+ that sounds the same as the other. There are many variations, and that applies to the Mark III and Mark IV. You will never find "the one".
What did you do at 6:50? That is good.
let notes ring with delay?
do you find that if you crank up the volume the sound tends to get more thin or loose bottom end more?
you goin thru an attenuator no ? your master knob seems pretty hi !
Which one is tighter this or Ultra Lead? I always loved the tone of UL, but I see a lot of hype over jp2c.
Steve Carlsson Ultra Lead is the tightest.
thank you. stay heavy!!!
Steve Carlsson The UL is about as tight as you can get. A Diezel VH4 gets very close in channel 3. A Mark 4 I used to have could get in that ballpark as well, depending how you eq'd it. The JP2C being similar I am sure is plenty tight. 🤘
Sweet! Grooves is the shite!
I had a hard time cutting through with my mark V when I was in a band with 2 guitarists. These amps sound best with a slight scoop in the mids on the slider EQ. It works fine with only 1 guitar player though, much more pretrucci uses it.
wow. that was amazing ;O)
Boogie Showww
The Mark III 2c++ sounds better to my ears. Did you record it with the same EQ?
The Artful Dodger no. Not even the same cab. Or same guitar.
Have you had the opportunity to compare them head-to-head? What did you think?
The orig was better but the reissue is more versatile
Great play through! I was wondering if this amp can get as aggressive as the Mark IIC++ mod. Do you think it does? Thanks a bunch!
Rodney Wallace not even close
@@RezaMatix fuck 😂, purchasing a jp2c was the closest I would ever get to a iic+. Well my quest for tone continues. Thanks a bunch!
@@RodneyWallaceDynamoCi thought the quad and studio pre amps got close to the 2c+
How do you engage the fx loop on this amp? The included footswitch doesnt have that option, right? I guess you have to buy the midi controler then...
you can just have the FX loop ON the entire time and kick the effects on with your board.
this or the Friedman BE? thanks and great demo/playing
Chasingtone Friedman by a mile.
@@RezaMatix Thanks
How'd you rate it compared to the other amps you've reviewed in terms of tone, feel, etc?
they all have something to offer. kind of hard to compare them other than to listen.
Have you tried the Fredman mic technique?
as in ever tried? yes.
RezaMatix how do you like it in comparison to your other techniques? Do any of your videos have that mic setup?
Reza, so what is your main amp that you use
right now I'm playing a Bogner PHI 54 with a Diezel VH4 pedal at rehearsals and shows. :)
Thanks for the video. However, as an owner of many many Boogie amps who played countless live sessions and recorded with most of them in the studio, I must say that although Boogies sound good and acceptable, but after all these years I realized that the tone in my head that I was looking for (mind you I'm not a typical rock/blues player) was a British tone ^^ So I'm a convert now! Don't get me wrong though, this is a hell of an amp, but I did exactly the same comparison with this amp, Boogie Mark V (and mini 25w version) alongside Friedmans, Marshalls (modded and boosted JCM), Wizards and Camerons and I must say that Friedman BE sound is what I always wanted my amp sound like. It's been a year since I purchased my Friedman (BE-50 DLX) and Wizard heads and since that time I never even bothered checking other amps nor even dirt pedals...
In other words:
1. Get the Boogie Mark series if you wanna have a nice lead tone out of the box. Get the Boogie if you wanna sound brutal in a relatively more full frequency spectrum, a.k.a Doom metal kinda sound. Get the Boogie if Clean is not very important for you. Get the Boogie if touch sensitivity and dynamic are not the priority for you as they are generally speaking more compressed amps. Get the Boogie (especifically Recto sound) if the sound in your head is a fat, oily, loose (in a good way) and grungy. And finally get the Boogie if you wanna sound like Boogie as NO other amps IMHO sound like Boogie amps in the market.
2. Get the Marshal/Friedman, (& Cameron, Metropoulos, Wizard, etc...) if you want that tight, punchy, wide and classic rock/metal sound. Get the Friedman if you wanna sound huge within a reasonable volume range (Boogies power-amps in general, need to be cranked while the preamp gain is set low to sound as huge). Get the Friedman if your guitar touch sensitivity is a priority for you. Get the Friedman (set to low gain or semi-clean) if you are a pedal guy as Marshall style amps sound much better with dirt pedals IMO. Get the Friedman if you want the most transparent fx-loop in the business. And finally get the Friedman if for your rhythm tone, you are not after that super compressed, black metal, congested tone because unless modded heavily they cannot do that for you (to be fair for that sound even Boogie is not the best option, get a 6505 or Victory Kraken or somethin').
get a friedman if you want all your guitars to sound similar and processed/mix ready.
do you still have it? I see a lot of people selling theirs afterwards. Just curious if after the honeymoon you kept it.
Bryan Lettow sold it, but only because buying , making review videos, and selling amps is kind of what I do.
Definitely a great amp, extremely versatile.
RezaMatix That makes sense. I really want to buy one was comparing to a MKV 35 that's about the same price since the JP is used. I'm conflicted. lol I love classic rock sounds to heavy thrash/metal sounds. I rarely play clean.
Bryan Lettow if they are the same price always go for the JP
Yeah but why play it through....is that....a bogner cab??
Bogner makes some of the best cabs in the world.
What cab, mic and pre you using man?
Jonathan Stubbs Guitar hi, sm57 on a Bogner Uberkab as mentioned in the video description text above. No mic pre.
9:12 just sounds like a HOG
No gas for this now that i have the friedman. Cool sounds tho. ;)
Which Friedman you get?
what friedman do you have??
Awesome! Almost as good as the best: ENGL Savage!
The Rezahhhhh..
Uberkab + JP2C? Is that a Uber Cab ride in an 18 Wheeler going 120 mph horns blaring thru the Eisenhower Tunnel? All's it needs is engine brakes and jimi would throw up in his grave. (I like Mesa but HATE METAL.)
Jesus...

Love the clean on this head. I feel it lacks the balls and chewiness the Bogners have.
I have the feeling that the lead channels were modeled more after a IIC++ than a IIC+. Since you have that amp, what do you think?
According to JP, He played thru all of his 2c+ in his collection and gave Mesa his favorite for them to model it off of.
dude the first 8 minutes i was like "meh does that guys even play guitar just dumb noob shredding" then came your lead shredding towards the end and i was a bit impressed. So you safed it next time do some more quality shredding ;)
Jan Schneidereit this demo has some of my worst playing ever in it. All of it sucks.
what pedals are you using ? for channel 2 and 3 ?
which section??
Hmm.. when you switch to channel 2 and 3? 3:40 onwards... and your channel 3 at 6:54
anyone got 3k i can barrow?
terry lafauci just sold it for $2100
well shit lol
I PLAY ALL STYLES AND GENERES AND IF AN AMP DOES NOT HAVE A GREAT CLEAN CHANNEL IT ISN'T A GOOD AMP....I AM ONE OF THOSE GUYS WHO DOESNT CONSIDER TONE EVERYTHING CRANKED TO THE RIGHT WITH STUPID AMOUNTS OF GAIN AND YOUR STRINGS SO LOOSE THEY FLOP ON THE FRETBOARD...I DO PLAY METAL BUT I AM MOUC MORE VERSITILE THAN JUST THAT....THE CLEAN CHANNEL ON THIS AMP RIVALS SOME OF THE BETTER FENDERS. AND THE HEAVY CHANNELS ARE AWESOME I ALSO HAVE A JS 410 MARSHAL NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE STANDARD 410.
i don't care about clean channels, i think they are pointless for my style.
