    Got a Sarod as a "permanent loan" which was not played for about 30 years. As I made an accurate viewing I saw that I would probably have to remove the metal plate to get access to the pegs for the 11 sympathetics strings for changing them. - Is that the way it has to be done? - Would be very happy if someone could help me :-)

      @yuresh2011 8 років тому +3

      No. Thats definetely not the way to do it. PLease dont touch the board at all!!!! I can guide you. it is a troublesome process but it is done from outside itself. You need a torch and a thicker string the PA string made into a kind of fish hook and then it takes five minutes.

    There is no confirmation that Sarod or any combination there off came from central Asia . It is also believed this instrument dates back thousands of years and is depicted in Gupta dynesty coins and Verna was the precursor to sarod. @Ranjul Zagwal How much evidence do you need where indian civilisation one of the oldest in the world , if not " the " oldest doesnt even find reference in western books ... All wiped out as it is considered " insignificant " to the west !!
      From mugals to english every one did every thing to destory and wiolpe out indias history !! Need i give you evidence of Nalanda - or ancient indian expertise in metallurgy, or science or space or mohanjadaro and much much more ...making NO reference in western eduction !! All wiped out over the western so called inventions !!
      UK ( our history has mostly english historical records ) who indian historians are rebutting to be false today !! Hey english dont even read about attrocities colonial powers imposed on their colonies ...all white washed as thought they never existed and Churchill considered a national hero when he has genocide ( minuted details ) of indians bigger in numbers than jews totally cleaned out from history !!!
      If you and likes of you like ignoring facts - please refrain from using terms like arrogance in your silly rebuttals !! Enough said !!

    • @sandeepsandhu4286
      @sandeepsandhu4286 3 роки тому

      @Ranjul Zagwal I didnt change any goalpost - gave you historical FACTS ,supporting my counter argument!!
      If you cant see facts as facts and evidence in them supporting what you asked for in that - that frankly isnt my issue - much like your counter claims...
      Lastly i am not trying to be a victim , quite the contrary - however you certainly show you are slave to your limitations in understanding and accepting facts!!
      P/s i dont need endorsement from people like you to stand by the facts !! As your source of truth is half backed history written to impose wester history by westerns !!

    • @sandeepsandhu4286
      @sandeepsandhu4286 3 роки тому

      @Ranjul Zagwal Quite the contrary - india didnt glorify or felt the need to - as it wasnt outwards looking but inward looking civilisation ( 5000 years of being non agressive is testament to that fact , supported by the very fact that - from columbus to english to europeans all wanted to reach india for its riches in every sphere !! ) ...So your unreliable comment is valid for civilisations trying to assert themselves by hook or crook , and evidence which are nothing but western claims !!
      Only replying to sarcasm in your comment - otherwise i wouldn't even bother !!
      Over n out !!

    • @sandeepsandhu4286
      @sandeepsandhu4286 3 роки тому

      @Ranjul Zagwal never claimed anything about rabab !!!
      Evidence of india never glorified- read above !! You glorify to leave a legacy or impose your legacy !!! India never needed that vecause we were well acvomplished - when others were in their cradles!!! And if you want evidence again - then go make an effort and learn as you aint into history !!

    Is Sarod a standard orchestral instrument as per Western standards ? He said that the instrument is tuned in C, does that mean he cannot play in other Keys? I know the violin, viola, cello, etc. are also monophonic instruments and their tunings fixed to one particular Key: - but the Westerners play every music written in all keys (without changing the tuning) and also modulates (key changes) within the same piece.

    • @philharmonia_orchestra
      @philharmonia_orchestra  4 роки тому +1

      The sarod uses just intonation, so it would sound out of tune if the piece was in a different root key than the instrument is tuned to (C in this case). Western classical music instruments use equal tempered intonation, so they can play music in all keys.

    • @enantiodromia
      @enantiodromia 3 роки тому

      In Indian classical music, you must not leave out the note C. And you must use one of the notes called F and G (you must not omit both).

    • @wmrajput
      @wmrajput 2 роки тому

      When playing sarod solo, it does not matter what its tuned to. It can even be tuned to a frequency between c and C# e.g, as long as the playing strings are in tune to each other.
      I dont see why a sarod player would not be able to play different scales from different keys, some will just be harder than others

Persian and Indian music have interacted and influenced each other a lot over the centuries. There are lots of resources online that delve into this topic.
