@@crankfastle8138 Keanu wasn't very good in the new Matrix movie either... then again that movie was awful in all respects so I can't really blame him.
The song at the end, "God gave rock and Roll to You" was originally by Argent in 1971 then covered by Christian Rock Band Petra in 1977 and again by Kiss for this Movie.
One of the writers, after making several re-edits, found the word "STATION" on a page by itself, as if someone just yelled it for no reason. (It was probably a location note that somehow got left on the page.) They thought it was funny, so they made a running gag out of people just randomly yelling "station."
The soundtrack from this movie was epic...Megadeth, Faith No More, King's X, Primus, Slaughter...most importantly, KISS. Alex Winter was so happy that they got KISS on the soundtrack, because KISS was one of the first, if not the first concert he saw as a kid at The Forum in the 70s.
The intro to God Gave Rock And Roll To You from this film isn't KISS just for the record. It's Steve Vai. Not trying to trash KISS or anything but in terms of playing the guitar KISS can't even change Steve Vai's strings.
Shortly after Terry Pratchett published his book, Reaper Man (in which his version of Death that is very similar to this one goes on holiday) he was approached by an unnamed studio to adapt it in to a movie. It fell through because execs at the studio didn't think audiences would accept a relatable and sympathetic Death; shortly afterwards, this film was released.
I'm an oddball because I like this one a LOT better than the first. I think the idea and delivery is just better as is the closure. I read the graphic novel and there was something I was they wouldn't have edited where Bill and Ted in order to go forward, I think to the Golden Gates, had to repent for their sins first. The were being chased by them in the form of demon Colonel Oats, Granny Preston and the Easter Bunny and had to call the people they wronged on the phone and apologize to get rid of them. You can see the lapse in the story without that but otherwise I did think this was a better story then Excellent Adv. and not as loose. Also Sadler's Grim Reaper just added something much needed here. Bodacious soundtracks for either regardless.
I saw this as a little kid back in the 90s and thought Death was the funniest character in the entire movie, and now, as an adult, he still holds up. He's so funny, he's the Napoleon of this Bill and Ted movie, Lol
Vasquez Rock is just close enough to Los Angeles that movie studios are not required to pay for extra travel pay for union movie workers. That's one reason it is so popular.
7:50 - "Oh this looks like the bit that they were watching in Star Trek." - It is. That's Vasquez Rocks, a popular location for films and TV show scenes. It was a central location in the original Roswell TV show. 8:52 - "He's a cool one." - That's actor William Sadler. He went on to play the sheriff on the show Roswell (the original). 11:02 - "Oh you're in Hell." - They originally wanted to call the movie Bill and Ted Go to Hell, but the studio objected. Now you have to watch the third one, Bill and Ted Face the Music. Station! :)
Bill Sadler steals the film as Death, he's done loads but a good one is Trespass with him, Bill Paxton & ICE T. For actors playing characters who play other characters you want Face/Off with Travolta & Cage.
The name "Station," which the characters also use as a slang term, is an inside joke between Bill and Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon; it came from a typo when they were writing the script. De Nomolos is Ed Solomon's name backwards. I hope you'll react to Bill & Ted Face the Music. It may not be the best one in the series, but it's still worth checking out, imho.
I remember getting the soundtrack for this on cassette tape from the "order 15 albums for a penny!" mail order club things. Somehow wasn't a scam; i had a massive collection from it. I didn't see the movie until like, 5 years ago though.
See, due to the way time works, Bill and Ted can't be dead because that would negate De Nomolos's reason for sending the Evil Robot Thems back to kill them, in the first place. You can get a temporal paradox, in this case: people who are in the afterlife but who cannot be dead because it creates a temporal paradox can only beat Death and return to life.
I might be repeating someone, but "You can be a king or a street sweeper, but everybody dances with the grim reaper." was stated by a killer before he was executed and is believed to be based on Death's line in this movie. (Looks to be Robert Alton Harris who was a car thief, kidnapper, burglar, and murderer.) The movie is kind of like a mix of Bergmann's Seventh Seal, unseen by me, and Dante's Divine Comedy. (Which I have read some of.) The idea of extraterrestrials in Heaven intrigued and delighted me as a Catholic boy into science fiction.
Seventh Seal surprised me by being quite a bit funnier than I expected, despite the good old bleak existentialist horror. Death's got an odd charisma in that one too.
Hello Dawn Marie!😊 The first film and the recent sequel "Bill & Ted face the Music" (2020) are my favorites. This one is still pretty funny.😉 You are too silly Dawn, forgetting the title in the intro.😆 No, they were still bad musicians at the end of the first film. Remember, Rufus said "They do get better".😉 The two English princesses were recast in this film with similar looking women. Yep, Station was from Mars. Great reactions to this entertaining sequel, Dawn!!!!🎬👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 P.S. - You have to watch the next sequel to finish your Bill & Ted journey!😉
