It is nice " corruption" in Vietnam. They mostly take money from goverment's projects, not directly from the people . Esp if you are a foreigner. It is very safe to do business in Vietnam due to low tax and no " protection " money . However if you new in this coutry you should not have a Vietnamese business partner because they may scam you

Parents should get together and hire a private tutor to teach their kids using accredited home school online programs.
Say, one tutor per 4 students.
$400 per student will net $1,600 per month for the tutor.
Fully credentialed teachers' salary in Vietnam is from $1,000 to about $2,000.
$1,600 is pretty darn good pay for a tutor!
And $400 per month is nowhere near the price of International School.

As a teacher in Vietnam with experience in other parts of Asia- I can say things like this are fairly common. A lot of times, owners go unpunished. Many schools are simply taking money and running a glorified daycare. I hope that this will help parents become more informed buyers. There are a lot of teachers not being paid and a lot of poor quality schools that charge an arm and a leg.

In the context of this story, a big question is why parents think it would be safe to “loan” this school many years of tuition in advance in exchange for “free” tuition without requiring proper annual reports, audits and legally bound agreements. Sadly, so many staff members (VNese and foreign) have devoted many years to this place (especially the VNese) and now find themselves unemployed with no backup plan. For some, no option but leave the country they want to stay in to find any job anywhere in order to support their families.

Education, or lack thereof, is one of the main reasons we left Vietnam.
We can afford to send our kids to international schools, but the attitude of the schools seemed to be ‘pay us because government schools are so bad’ rather than ‘pay us because our schools are so good’.
Free schools in my country are better than the most expensive schools in Vietnam.
I also don’t want my kids only going to school with the kids of corrupt officials. If it wasn’t for them, the government schools would be much better.
