Do it, come back. I moved from Romania to Germany 6 years ago it's still EU, but for me personally, an upgrade(I also did it for love, so I'm biased😅). And there will always be people here complaining and there's always sth that can be done better, but for now I'd say the system here healthcare and social is good enough and definitely better than what I had before.
Regarding the Shroud situation, it is still quite concerning since it appears the only communication that came from the owner is an email to a handful of customers. I see nothing on socials from her or in the name of the brand. Going weeks, let alone months, is not a good look.
I think you would love Minneapolis and Saint Paul . We have city neighborhoods where there is a coffee shop and locally owned restaurants about every mile or so. I live close to the Mississippi river, and we walk every day, to the grocery store, and to coffee shops, and even a small movie theater near us. I definitely recommend looking into it if your husband has opportunities to stay on in the US. There are great teaching hospitals in Minneapolis and plus I know that you are used to snow! So you would have warm, humid, summers, and brisk winters. And the transportation system is good.
We moved from one state to another seventeen years ago and it took me fifteen years to stop wanting to go back. I can’t imagine the pain of separation from country to country. 💛
I am a European girlie, Ukrainian basically, living in Canada and that part when you’re talking about living in US is resonate in me a lot. Simply like you read my thoughts… same thing with being stuck and miss to going out to grab a coffee or just for a walk…. Feel you..
The healthcare situation in the US is terrible. Employers don’t want to pay & that’s the issue. Insurance companies have capitalized healthcare to the extent that even menial baseline care is unreachable for many. I wish the US had walkable cities. There are a few, but I wish that the infrastructure here was more geared toward health in all ways & less dependence on fossil fuels (but that’s the issue in a nutshell).
US healthcare is abysmal. I had a psoriasis flare on my face and really wanted to get in to see a derm this morning, but having an HMO, the insurance wouldn’t pay for a specialist without a referral from my PCP. I reached out to my PCP and he’s taking the day off so I’m stuck. How does this make a sense? It’s just insurance companies finding new ways to not pay for anything and it just puts more pressure on the doctors and delays care. I agree with what you miss from Europe. I used to live in Spain and I miss all those things.
I’m Australian but lived in SE Asia for a big part of my life. I visited Sweden for 3 weeks and fell in love with everything about the country. It was the outdoor culture I missed about home mixed with a rich, cosmopolitan, history which I enjoy about SE Asia. I would move there in a heartbeat.
I'm an Aussie too..my great- grandparents on mums fathers side came to Australia from Sweden as settlers. My grandfathers fought in WW2 for Australia 🇦🇺. I have wanted to visit Sweden to see where they came from... its on my to do list.
I respect the persistence and dedication (and love) you have for your brand! Mad respect! Everything that we want in life (that is worth it) is hard and takes a lot of time and learning to achieve. Once you get there, or become an "expert" in whatever it is, it feels so amazing and fulfilling. Whether it is learning a new subject, language, or business, never giving up is its own reward! No one ever sees all the hard work and tears that go into success! ❤
Healthcare in Canada is not as straightforward as the word "free" is 🤷🏻♀️ Meds, optometrist/vision care, dental services are not covered. And they constantly trying to reduce the number of free services/tests, let alone talking about privatization 🤷🏻♀️🤬💔
It's okay to reach a goal and be content with that. Human beings are the only animals that always want more more more if that makes sense. We're insatiable.
I think you would enjoy NYC. All neighborhoods are unique with their own shops and vibe. One of very few walkable cities with a transit system to get you to the other neighborhoods. Great groups to join to have new experiences. It’s just really expensive to have that there.
I am from the UK and we have free healthcare, no insurance is required either, US healthcare is crazy to us. We do pay tax but it's very less compared to the cost of healthcare. I too like being able to walk everywhere, a lot of cities in the UK are like that too. I remember when we went to the US hated having to drive everywhere
Dear Angie, just like you I learned about myself when living in USA. I learned I am European :) I like diversity and walking places :) I like esplanades. I like the European architecture, I like my bread without so much sugar (I live in Germany) and the bread tastes and feels like bread :). I loved the convenience of the USA life style but found very hard to make friends there. (lots of acquaintances)
I was ghosted by one small brand. I'd rather not say the name. I don't want to cause them harm, in case it was because their owner was overwhelmed. In the end, my order made it alright, but I won't be buying from them again. If you're so overwhelmed that you can't answer your customers' questions when they try to reach out to you in different ways (IG, email) over a couple of days, I just wonder if there is something else that is falling through the cracks (safety, digital security). I feel for small brands because they're under a lot of pressure. I think part of the problem is that social media makes them explode too fast and they can't handle it. Sometimes, better turtle than hare! 🙂
there's some places (even here in LA!!!) that actually are very walkable, but its more like neighborhoods. For example I always walk to my grocery store, gym, and coffee shop! It's possible to find here
Back in the day... many employers paid for health insurance. If my memory is correct, it was sometime in the 90s when the employee had to start paying 1/2 of health insurance, but that quickly eroded into employee paying 100%.
Hey, maybe not this month considering your weather preferences, but you should visit the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, MN! Maybe Sam would be a midwestern tour guide lol. But it's a lovely old home and has a rotating art exhibit, amazing Fika, AND like half the people working there speak Swedish. Summer in MN is very similar to summer in TX 😘
In the US, the employer also pays part of the cost. The costs are split between what the employer pays, and the premiums that you pay as an employee. I would not be surprised though if the costs have been shifted more to the employee than the employer overtime.
Hearing you say you sometimes miss hearing people speak your language made me think of my grandparents. I never learned Swedish but I kinda miss hearing my grandparent's speaking it.
Healthcare and education in the states is HORRENDOUS! It really is infuriating how you don’t know if you will be able to afford a medical procedure because you just don’t know how much it would be and coverage is so convoluted. I hear you on missing Sweden. I feel the same about Mexico though I was born here in the states. Something about being home just feeds your soul. But so happy you are stateside; crossing my fingers for a meetup 😂😂🤞🏽 3 Singe releases! So far I own everything lol so saving my money for this. Only other thing I was tempted by was the new lunar beauty collection 🌚
I’m an American who had the opportunity to live in a European-adjacent country for over a decade, and your comments about the US ring so true! Moving back Stateside was not my first choice, but I am also trying to make the best of it… Sending you good vibes while you’re in the US and crossing my fingers you get back to Europe soon! ❤
My husband ordered that new shroud palette for me back in November and it’s now April 1st. I still don’t have the palette and she hasn’t answered dm’s, etc. UPDATE: my husband got an email last night, 4/2 that my shroud palette shipped! Finally.
I had made a couple of purchases from Shroud before the owner disappeared. I had emailed and gotten zero response until March 7th, when she finally responded. She apologized profusely and promising that I would be receiving a shipping confirmation soon. As of right now, I'm still waiting for that confirmation email. I understand that sometimes things happen that are beyond our control, and I feel horrible that she was dealing with a medical issue, but at the same time I feel like there should always be a plan B, especially when you're a business owner. After this, I don't think I'll be buying from Shroud again. I just dont trust that this won't happen again, and I still dont have any of the items I ordered.
The same thing happened with me and UOMA - I bought some products (recommended by a different beauty UA-camr) they charged my card almost $100, never sent my order, never replied to my emails, phone out of service and then their website shut down. It makes me angry because they HAD to know ahead of time and they just operate this way. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but my frustration is compounded by the fact that the UOMA by Sharon C is still apparently selling products and making money - she just took the money and ran when it came to her higher end UOMA. SO frustrating!!
I'm so happy for your growth and your journey, I always find it so interesting to watch and see how people change from one part of their life to the next. May Texas keep treating you well! xo
My employers always used to pay all healthcare. Then, the costs climbed astronomically, and they started paying a portion of the healthcare but not all of it.
I love it whenever you talk about Sweden. I have the same issues whenever I'm daughter starts her fussing about what I do wrong. I just let her talk and talk. I do not like arguing.!! It is not worth it just like you said. ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
In my opinion your thriving because you're very flexible adjusting to the changes of content but putting your point of view and not necessarily following blindly.
There is a reason many European's end up in metropolitan areas (NYC, Chicago, SF etc) They are used to public trans, walkability, neighborhoods & cultural activities like concerts, theatre, museums, universities, art galleries, etc. I've never lived abroad but I have moved to another state & back. That is an adjustment since even tho it's all one country, different states have different cultures, laws, tax structures, legal age limits & public school curriculum not to mention social services & public trans.
For long term income, running a brand makes the most financial sense. It also has the potential to earn far more than YT for sure! Hey where is the singe gossip??? I was hoping for at least a hint on the next product 😝
There are tons of places you could move to in the US where you can walk to places, etc.. It may be a difference between living in the Country, Suburbs, City, etc
The health care system is the same in Lithuania. It’s not perfect, but at least you know what you get.🙂 And when it comes to missing things… I miss simplest things too. I’ve been living in Mexico City for 10 years, and sometimes I just miss something as simple as walking somewhere and not using the car. I even miss the silence and the respect for the time of rest of other people, because here in Mexico they loooove music and fiesta, and nobody cares if it’s 2-3 am and you have to go to work in the morning, you have a baby, an elderly person or you’re sick, you’ll have to listen to the noise till the fiesta is over. Don’t get me wrong, I love music too, but I enjoy the silence a lot too, specially at 2-3 in the morning.
Brands can pay for the testing for ingredients to get them approved by FDA. They just don’t want to because it’s costly and time consuming. With sunscreens it didn’t surprise me, but I’m curious to see if any brands actually do it when it comes to the pigments since it will really factor into things.
Great video! I hope that you don't start putting UA-cam on the back burner and go more on TikTok. I'm not a TikTok user and the thought of having to use that app more just isn't for me. I will always watch your tutorials and GRWM or anything you put up here!!
I think that when you start something it is difficult because it is the beginning, starting from the ground up. When you work you way through it becomes easier! The FDA is so behind here in the U.S. We have ingredients in some of our food I not allowed in a lot of other countries. Example high fructose corn syrup😨 this is a chemical compound not digestible sugar. Love your channel. Keep up the great work!😁💚🖒
My husband is in the same field as your husband. In fact, he was friends with a professor that probably works with your husband who came from Steven’s Institute of Technology, In Hoboken, NJ. It is across the Hudson River from NYC. It’s one 5min. bus or train from Manhattan. Where you can walk to your hearts content. If you and your husband want a great opportunity in a city that’s very European he should apply there!
Health insurance is so ridiculous! I pay for my insurance because my son has a health condition, but it’s rare and the treatments are really expensive so health insurance refuses to pay it. It costs me $2500 every single time he needs it and it’s something he has to have. I’ve fought so hard to try and get insurance companies to pay for it but they just have excuse after excuse. I even switched to a different, more expensive insurance because it seemed like it would pay for it but then they didn’t. It’s maddening!
Also, that is how I felt moving from San Diego to another state, because I missed the public transportation and the ability to walk to so many places in my suburban town.
My biggest issue with the whole Shroud thing is she still has not done what she said she would when she finally responded to my email. I had to file a dispute with my credit card and when she finally responded to me, she said she would ship my palette if I canceled my dispute... Well, no I'm not doing that because it's been 4 months with zero communication; why would I take away the shred of security I had to get anything from my purchase? It's very frustrating. I'm certainly glad she's okay, of course, but this whole situation has been tainted the brand for me.
I SO BADLY wanted to go to Italy with you!! Couldn't afford it this year though 😢 do you think you'll do another trip with your subscribers next year??
Hahaha! That opening had me thinki g my sound was off! 😂 ok lol, First. I want to thank you for your point of view and perspective. Also I am excited to see your brand 'Singe'. I wish I could get the eye brush set but taxes and handling is so expensive. I will live vicariously through you and other UA-camrs using them. So proud of you ! 😊❤🎉
In regards to Healthcare in the US, it really depends on your employer what kind of coverage you have. I feel it shouldn't be this way, and everyone should pay toward it rather than be so dependent on an employer. If you lose your job you either have to get Cobra which is pay full price for your current insurance, do Obama care which is expensive and covers nothing or meet the threshold to get on medicaid(state paid insurance). I'm lucky that my employer pays over 75% of my insurance (Health, dental and vision)for both my husband and I. It is really good insurance that pretty much covers most things and has a max of what an insurance can charge for a procedure. I also get an HRA, which money goes toward it that pay for medications, extra cost for glasses, co-pays, etc. I pretty much don't pay for anything in regards to health care because of the benefits my employer offers.
Re: healthcare I cannot stress to you how much an issue like healthcare embodies the dysfunction that is American culture. Healthcare, guns, and Hollywood. Once you understand these 3 things you've figured out America.
In other words, don't be poor. Or it's expensive to be poor here in America. This is capitalism at its core- people are treated just like numbers. If you can't work or produce profit, then you don't matter.
LOL I refreshed my screen when I didn't hear anything thinking something had gone wrong with the page loading 😂😂 Also, the way Singe is coming for my no-buy..... Just gotta wait till Black Friday 🤞🤞
I purchased from Sonny Cosmetics in January and crickets. After a month passed, I disputed it with my bank. No one from a Sonny responded to the bank either after thirty days & they closed the claim in my favor. Makes you very skeptical
I used to work in pigment shops for a few years. I agree that FDA should've done extensive research on synthetic organic and earth- red pigments. Im unsure how definitive other world research on this but, as far as I know, the majority of red pigments (not dyes like Carmines) are known to have very fine particle size (less than mm, we called it microns); thus, it makes it easier for the micro particles to enter the eyes or part of the body. Red pigments are known to "migrate" once inside our bodies. Because there's no definitive conclusion or extensive research on how that may effect our health long term, this may still be a question that all industries should research further.
I have never heard about this and I used to work with makeup regulation in the EU so if there is actually peer reviewed science backing this up I'd love to see it. Otherwise I will assume this is hearsay, because I have never heard the regulations, laws or science mention any of this. Using particles that can penetrate the skin is highly illegal in all of the EU.
@AngelicaNyqvist I worked with scientists and conservators on red pigments, but they are not specifically focused on cosmetics. Mostly for people who'd touched or utilized them into mixtures with polymers, wax, or other binders for furniture, musical instruments, and art industries in general. Some ppl I worked with did some research on the way red pigments behave when entering human bodies - sadly, many of these are tested on lab animals. So, I wouldn't say it's penetrable as pigments are inerts and won't dissolve into skin, but it can enter the body as micron particles and migrates. Because the art industries are minuscule compared to cosmetics and automobiles, we do not have as aclaimed reports about this, nor do these finds gaining any acknowledgments for other bigger fields. Again, long-term exposures are the main concerns here because small particles of safe red pigments are not harmful. I think we still do not know whether there's a negative impact of red pigments when they stay in the body long term. Duke University is one of those institutions that produces these research- it us under ACMI (Arts Creatives Materials Institute). If anyone curious, there are some scientific resources when you search for red pigment migration.
Government funding in the US is quite tricky. There are so many competing interests that need research, medical and food related. Also, a lot of the government funding is mandated by Congress or priorities set by policy in the administration. Makeup is not a priority and I would agree that is right. I am not against vegan products but it is a personal choice and there are tradeoffs. Unpopular opinion:This is one of those tradeoffs; you can choose products from can be made with those guidelines that are only have vegan ingredients.
No you actually cannot produce all colors in eyeshadow with only vegan pigments and also make them eyesafe according to the FDA. The only approved vegan red pigment does not allow for a lot of true red or darker purple shades.
Yeah when this topic was brought up my first thought was, "Yeah I can think of A LOT of other things that take precedence for government funding for the FDA than makeup."
So are we not going to talk about how insanely expensive that Karla Cosmetics quad is? Please? Cause I’m so confused! Also really love your plaid top!!❤
Many years ago our health insurance use to be so much more affordable.. I can tell you from my point of view.. Once the whole “affordable healthcare” started is when insurance became unaffordable! My healthy son is 17 and hasn’t had insurance for a few years.. For him to have Insurance we would pay a ton monthly but he would also have a huge deductible! Which means we would basically be paying out of pocket for him and paying a monthly premium.. Most doctors give a discount for those with out insurance so it makes no sense to have insurance sadly! My husband had health insurance at work bug for it to cover him and my son he would be paying the same a person with 20 kids would be paying! It’s like half a pay check!
yeah. it was me 17 years ago in Ireland. i have moved over from Poland. it was HORRIIIIBBBBBBBLEEEE. NO LANGUAGE, NO JOB. 2 kids to looks after. we are stronger than we think. Dream and follow the dream, you can do it. Now I have everything I have always wanted. love, home, freedom, but for so many years I supported everything my partner needed to make our lifes like this. great wife, great relationship.

I would like to see you do a Singe palette!!💚
@@lynettefinnigan9540 I hope you can. It’s so beautiful. Thank you to your grandfathers for their service 🇦🇺❤️. You have an incredible family story.
i’ve never felt more relatable to you when you said “i feel so stuck here.” ♥️♥️♥️
Same. My parents moved me to Texas at 11 years old. I’m 54 and can’t afford a long distance move. Very stuck.
Hi Angie 😊 I agree with you about healthcare in the US. Here in Canada, ours seems to work the same way as in Sweden. No worries 😁
Healthcare in Canada is not as straightforward as the word "free" is 🤷🏻♀️ Meds, optometrist/vision care, dental services are not covered. And they constantly trying to reduce the number of free services/tests, let alone talking about privatization 🤷🏻♀️🤬💔
Montreal! I literally walk everywhere and have no car
I wish it’s gonna be that red blush I have seen on you a few times without specifying what that is 😉 Give us glowy blushes pleeeaaassee 🙏🏻🧡😘🫶
I got some new face brushes from singe and I AM OBSESSED. THEY ARE SO GOOD YOU GO GIRLIE!!!
Thank you 🥹🧡
Dear Angie, just like you I learned about myself when living in USA.
Whatever you have planned for singe, I will purchase immediately!! So excited!!
What is the peach inner corner highlight you used on your eyes???? It’s beautiful
👀
But so happy you are stateside; crossing my fingers for a meetup 😂😂🤞🏽
3 Singe releases! So far I own everything lol so saving my money for this. Only other thing I was tempted by was the new lunar beauty collection 🌚
I only have the first release so far and I use them almost nonstop.
Thank you for answering my question!! 😊 I can’t wait for upcoming Singe releases!
Can’t wait to see what is new with Singe!
I think it's crazy too that people would rather pay for high priced insurance than have universal. There are a lot of us up north that feel that way.
I am enjoying your chat-GRWM-videos!!
Your content is a comfort zone to me 😊
I love it whenever you talk about Sweden.
I agree, where ever my husband is he is my home! The rest is just geography.
I went to North America from Europe in 2002, I just moved back, never stopped missing it!
I live you to pieces! Are you going to come out with brushes in different colors? Much love ❤️
I hope there is a chance to have Singe in Poland without this super expensive shipping
All hail Queen Manon!
you are STUNNINGGG
Brands can pay for the testing for ingredients to get them approved by FDA. They just don’t want to because it’s costly and time consuming. With sunscreens it didn’t surprise me, but I’m curious to see if any brands actually do it when it comes to the pigments since it will really factor into things.
I also love your get ready and your evaluation of things that you get in PR, so people do love your content.
PS ..love your brushes.👍🏻❤️
Great video! I hope that you don't start putting UA-cam on the back burner and go more on TikTok. I'm not a TikTok user and the thought of having to use that app more just isn't for me. I will always watch your tutorials and GRWM or anything you put up here!!
Aren't they always threaten to ban TikTok in US, too? I'd be concerned if my business was tied up to the platform 🤔
I have TikTok account just so I can open links my kid sends me lol
Hi Angie
Will you still be able to operate Singe from any country you move to next? Will you have to get a new warehouse and suppliers?
I will just have to move the actual business, but I'll keep the warehouse I have in Texas :)
I love my country ❤️
I think that when you start something it is difficult because it is the beginning, starting from the ground up. When you work you way through it becomes easier! The FDA is so behind here in the U.S. We have ingredients in some of our food I not allowed in a lot of other countries. Example high fructose corn syrup😨 this is a chemical compound not digestible sugar. Love your channel. Keep up the great work!😁💚🖒
Natural sugars are chemicals too! Digestion is a chemical process.. Chemical doesn't necessarily means bad just like natural doesn't always mean safe
Good morning and happy Monday! 😊
Also, that is how I felt moving from San Diego to another state, because I missed the public transportation and the ability to walk to so many places in my suburban town.
Morning! :D
I FINALLY got your face brushes during the sale and I am IN LOVE. ❤
Um, there's going to be another odens eye collaboration?! 🥰💖
Love your videos. Please keep doing this🧡💛🧡💛
I SO BADLY wanted to go to Italy with you!! Couldn't afford it this year though 😢 do you think you'll do another trip with your subscribers next year??
This look is STUNNING💖☺️🤗💖
Moved to Germany from the US and I cosign everything you're saying here haha
I love your eye look!
I could have sworn seeing Jessica Alba's makeup artist use one of your brushes. I was excited for you!
"I love us more than I love being right" This is huge🩷🩷🩷
So excited to see Singe on the Tiktok shop! 💛💛
Re: healthcare
I cannot stress to you how much an issue like healthcare embodies the dysfunction that is American culture.
Healthcare, guns, and Hollywood. Once you understand these 3 things you've figured out America.
Absolutely agree 💯
In other words, don't be poor. Or it's expensive to be poor here in America. This is capitalism at its core- people are treated just like numbers. If you can't work or produce profit, then you don't matter.
Yup & our food supply.
LOL I refreshed my screen when I didn't hear anything thinking something had gone wrong with the page loading 😂😂 Also, the way Singe is coming for my no-buy..... Just gotta wait till Black Friday 🤞🤞
😂🙈
I went to the deep end - "dammit, my phone is kaput!" 💔🤣🤣🤣
If you’re ever looking for a place like Europe with arguably the best academic community, consider Boston.
I purchased from Sonny Cosmetics in January and crickets. After a month passed, I disputed it with my bank. No one from a Sonny responded to the bank either after thirty days & they closed the claim in my favor. Makes you very skeptical
Love the video. 💜
Interesting! Thanks for the science behind this issue.
Ooh i wonder if youll do your own eyeshadow then 🤔
So are we not going to talk about how insanely expensive that Karla Cosmetics quad is? Please? Cause I’m so confused! Also really love your plaid top!!❤
Great video
Mannon 🖤 🥀🐲
Manon & Nesta!
Oh my heart broke for you when you said you miss hearing people speak your language 😢 I can only imagine how isolating and lonely that would feel.
yeah. it was me 17 years ago in Ireland. i have moved over from Poland. it was HORRIIIIBBBBBBBLEEEE.
❤
I love the videos you put out on UA-cam! 💙
I'm old. Tiktok is not my jam i don't think. I love long form videos plus actually learning something. I really have never watched tiktok though. Who knows maybe I'd love it. My family keeps telling me to do makeup tiktok but I'm too stupid 😂
I lived in the USA and in 2 other countries -Russia and the UK. Imho the shittest health care system is in the USA, sorry guys. It's just terrible! Hospitals are extremely expensive and you never know if you're covered by your insurance.
I chose to get my retainers and mouth guards made by my family's dentist when I visited them in China. I was told it would be several hundred dollars just for one damn guard in the USA, the dentist in China did all three for 50 USD lmao and she did just as good a job as my doctor here would have done!
