Mercedes are obliged by the FIA to provide the exact same engine to the likes of racing point and Williams, they just know how to extract everything from it and are better at building a car than the other teams, that's why they are the best despite the fact that they share the same engine with a couple of other teams
People who know anything about F1, will realize that the engine is just a part of the whole perormance of a F1 car.

@jon doe I've only ever driven mercs (I've owned 9 as of now) and never had one break down or give any serious problems, I think a faulty sensor was about the worst issue I've had..

I have driven both and for me it would be the Aston. I love that Matt makes a clear statement at the end. But I was not able to get a good seating position in the Mercedes and had terrible visibility (I am 1.85m, not overly tall). Also the bonnet was too long to see clearly, and the car didn’t feel as responsive to me as the Aston. The Aston felt a lot more compact and light (especially considering it’s weight). I am sure it is a personal preference in the end.
Your tripping I'm 6 feet and didn't witness none of that just pure joyment on the other hand that's how I feel about the Aston. And they suck on maintenance, no parts and no dealers nowhere, but yeah personal preference

Coming from someone who's had both the cars (and currently has the AMG GTS), I agree with Matt LeBlanc. Everything about the GTS is better than the Aston, except for one thing - which is the name. Aston Martin is just that much more special being that it is a brand that's rarely ever seen and is prestigious. Everything else about the AMG GTS is better. I would miss the Aston sometimes, however, since I got my GTS, I don't anymore and in some ways the GTS has way more road presence than the Aston or so I am told by friends.
That vantage looks like a squeezed lemon with wheels..
You have to see it in real life, looks way better than any camera can capture!

I've always liked the AMG GT. That's a very well engineered car. AMG, does not disappoint with that vehicle.

Mercedes is actually quite a bargain for ordinary person who don’t need cutting edge sports car pedigree!

just me or does the Merc legitimately look better than the Aston.....wooosh this thing looks terrible after seeing the dB 11
Vantage is ugly. So yeah Merc is just classic sports car design. Long hood, seats feel like they're over the back axel, wide stance, swooping lines. The Aston is a design catastrophe and is ugly from all angles other than its side profile.

The mercedes gt is the perfect evolution from the sls. It looks like some gangster villain hyper car from a comic book. Its incredible. The spoiler ruins it though as always.
The slr was cool when it came out but looks mostly weird now, like some kind of grater.
Not really impressed with the aston. It’s okay but the dbs james bond drove in casino royale still looks better.
I definitely like the rear of the Vantage, but Matt's do have a point about the AMG-GT S. Conflicting decision here.

The Aston is so close to being beautiful, however the front and rear just aren’t right.

Agreed, can't quite put my finger on it. They've traded elegance for a more aggressive/fussy design. It looks good but I don't think I could ever describe it as beautiful.

I love Mercedes, but that one is a bit ugly. No way I'd take that over the Aston personally. That said, this particular Aston looks beautiful from behind, but boring from the front. Screw it, I'll have the old V12 vantage please....

You're not alone, mate. I am definitely waiting for the new gen V12 Vantage. I don't mind if they use the same V12 from the DB11 or the DBS Superleggera, I'm fine with it.
Everyone saying the Merc's engine is better lol, the engines are the same just tuned differently, the main difference between them is the transmission. That's why the AMG wins, it has a DCT.

I own the Aston here and the drag wasn’t a fair race, Aston built more for track so even though AMG and Aston have exact same 0-60 times, all the extra torque Aston has is at 3k rpm and higher so you need to use launch mode to get the 0-60 speed from dead stop, basically hold the brake and accelerate then release brake….but I can squeal the tires shifting to 3rd and 4th overv 60 mph

The AMG is the brutal one with beauty. All the way. It's an iconic car.
Having driven both, I own the Vantage. Much better place to spend time, more comfortable (to me). They both have way more performance than you can use on the road and keep your licence. I have no idea what he's on about when criticising the ZF gearbox, but since he didn't articulate any actual fault, I suspect neither did he. Very odd. I think the Carfection vid on the same comparison is a much more mature take on the issue.
