So, to give some context for Deep Sea Bass, it plays for the boss Coral Riff, and all of the bosses in the game have like 4 levels of puns to them, lol. They all also have some unique gimmicks to them in the gameplay based off of their theming. Coral Riff, who is an aquatic bass guitar boss, with the theme called Deep Sea Bass, has 8 tentacles, and those 8 tentacles are the ones playing the music! There’s two playing the drums, two playing the strings, two playing the synths, and two playing the horns/brass. As you defeat the tentacles, the instruments drop out of the song and stop playing, until you defeat all of them, where they all come back in and you face off against Coral Riff itself. It’s one of my favorite songs in the game, and the gimmick is fun to hear in real time while playing.

Crypt of the Necrodancer was a game I picked up because of this channel. I did not regret it when I came across tracks and bosses like these. Some of my favourites on the entire track.

A little note with the song names, when they have numbers on them (1-2, 3-3, 4-1, etc) they are main level ones, the rest are special themes or boss themes, in this case, Deep Sea Bass is the theme and Coral Riff is the boss, so you could form an idea of what kind of place it is or how the boss may look from the name and the song itself.

Don't think anyone else here has mentioned it, but in case you're unaware, "Necrodancer" is a pun on "necromancer". In this case, the titular Necrodancer is a lich who uses the power of a magic golden lute to reanimate the undead, and you're descending through the crypt in order to both defeat the necrodancer and claim the golden lute and to find out what happened to your family, who died/went missing in the crypt.
Also, there's no country ballad, but there IS a conga, for the boss King Conga. That song, Konga Conga Kappa, is one of the most unique songs on the soundtrack, and also the one that kicks my butt the most because you have to play it completely differently to the other songs and I always miss beats lol.

Omg and omg. amazing one. There is a part there in the middle of that first song, where it heats up, that I absolutely ADORE and it takes me back to some amazing moments from super meat boy in fact, crazily enough. TOO similar notes. And behold... I afterwards realized that its the same composer on that game. I mean DAMN, the moment it hits you... that guy only makes insanely dope music.

Deep Sea Bass gives me such mega man vibes, especially the beginning when the song brings in more instruments.

You are correct that "Necro-" anything typically refers to death.
Necromancy = death divination, specifically referring to communicating with the dead, though colloquially also used to refer to commanding/summoning the dead.
Also found in words like necrosis (cell death), necrotizing fascitis (the "flesh eating disease"), and other similarly pleasant topics.

You know, I never really noticed before but Heart of the Crypt really made me think of a few other bgms Danny B did, particularly Betus Blues and Devil n Bass.

Each level has a unique song, which doesn't loop, the level lasts for the duration of the song. And some of these songs though are from boss fights which do loop until the boss is dead.

Really making me regret not adding all my crypt albums to my phone... Game's music is so nostalgic for me and defined a really large chunk of my taste in 2016 and 2017. Fun game overall, too. Rhythm rougelikes are an under-explored genre.
ALSO!! The A_Rival version of Heart of the Crypt is amazing, and I think the genre is drum and bass, technically.

With as little spoilers as possible, Crypt of the Necrodancer is a rogue-like game (like Hades, for instance), but the twist is that you move through stages to the beat of the song playing in each stage. There's a story behind it, and a few different characters to play with aside from the main character who each have their own mechanics.

Deep Sea Bass also borrows it's main melody from the menu/hub area theme "Rhythmortis". Oh and it's the first looping song from you've heard from this game!

"Necro" is indeed just dead. Its a greek word. It simply means dead. In a nutshell, the dead dance in this game. :D Literally!

im pretty sure you would really enjoy playing this game honestly. it's a roguelite/dungeon crawler/rhythm game, which seems like an odd combination but it works really nicely

hey Jesse, one idea for a song for you to review if you feel like it - from: Kena Bridge of Spirits, Song title: Corrupt Rot God
its however fairly long (8mins), in my opinion the best most climatic part is from around 6:40 to end, which coincidences with the last hardest end boss phase

More hits from Necrodancer... requesters with good taste clearly. Still yet to hit my favourites though; 3-1 Cold (paired with 3-1 Hot of course, though outside of game you lose the cool crossfading) and 4-3.
Minor game context, about songs to make you move: sometimes Crypt is called a rhythm game, but it's more like a 'BPM' game. Not following the music, but following the beat. Which is why the songs are like that... and why parts in later levels songs where beat drops out for a moment or is more obscured also make the game harder.

You've been covering quite a few of the Necrodancer songs lately, are you planning on playing this game? It is a roguelite like Hades, but it's also a rhythm game.
