You're absolutely correct that competition drives innovation but there is also something to be said about loving what your creating. You can really tell that they absolutely love what they are producing and that they aren't SOLELY motivated by money which is why I think that all of the dark and darkers "clones" have fallen by the wayside. Most of those projects were established in order to corner a section of the market or to capitalize on the fact that Dark and Darker had been removed from Steam, not to provide a quality product. This isn't a dig at the developers of Dungeonborne, their product was by far the best attempt at a legitimate Dark and Darker "clone" but even with Tencent money behind their studio (and what was undoubtedly a far larger dev team) they STILL failed to deliver a product that felt as good IN DUNGEON as Dark and Darker (for all its flaws). I really did like some of the systems that were in Dungeonborne, its menu system and the overall feel of the maps as far as appearance and map design, as well as the new player onboarding. One thing that as a Dark and Darker player I didn't enjoy was that they were constantly underhandedly (or sometimes openly) insulting not just Ironmace but specifically some of the developers in their marketing and patch notes. I really hope that Dungeonborne doesn't completely die, I think that both games should exist so that they push each other to be the best version of themselves.

I think the reason these games keep failing and why dark and darker isn’t growing is because they all focus far too much on PvP. Dark and Darker can’t be fantasy Fortnite. It can’t just become a shooter with bows. People want to play the game for the class fantasy of myriad classes and the dungeon crawling experience. The PvP can be a fun feature, but if it’s the sole focus, the game just doesn’t have legs. If a game comes out with much greater PvE focus, I believe it finds far more success than Dark and Darker.

lets be real here. Dark & Darker was always superior to this garbage. You had to have taken some kind of substance to tweak your senses into enjoying this pile of trash in the first place.
No,that's not true, game was really fun, and in the first look, game was better then Dad
But we'll....it's sad
Hopefully 😂
devs ignored everything the community asked for balance wise from the beginning and even did the opposite, making it worse with every patch. it was dying from start
Nexon's trash copy failed immediatly.
Dark and Darker is BiS
All my gamer friends dont want to play dark and darker because its either too slow (they play cod) or too hard and frustating. DaD will always be on its on because of its niche aesthetic and play style. Stop trying to compare everything with any other things. DaD doesnt need competition, the game is loved by their devs and they have a good healthy relationship with it.
Its like saying that someone had a solid relationship with another person and for the sack for the relationship's growth, one would need to toss a third party in there to shake things up and make the couple work on the flaws.. why?
:o dungeonborne is kill :o
Dumgeonborne is kill day before tomorrow
Skill. Fxed it for ya
buff warlock
Good for us. more players possible on dark and darker.
Sry but dad is more trash then DB
This game was hot ass so glad its gone
U even don't played it....
both games fuckin dead
The "Greed is good" is more dead
Dungeonborne is so much better than dark and darker, it’s a shame devs abandoned it
