I had my freeze dryer trays in my freeze dryer and had to prepare stuff for the next cycle. I really didn't want to use bags, then I noticed the silicone trays were empty, I used them to refreeze the next round, just took them out of the silicone put directly on the trays, and had the silicone tray for another round.
I have two sets of trays and silicone mats. I also know of people who use parchment paper in their freeze drier to make it easier to remove the freeze-dried food from the trays. I definitely prefer silicone to parchment. I guess parchment would work better than placing the food directly on the trays.
