Install demonstration of Sega Mega Drive model 2 switchless region mod.
This is using D'force3000 (D4S) PIC code and a strip-board layout
The mod allows the reset button to control the region of the console and change from 50Hz to 60Hz to run games full screen and full speed.

Hello 👋🏽 question: Can a stock version play north american carts? Does it have to be region modded?
Is it possible to use the master system 2 passive rgb mod on a megadrive 1 to get stereo sound and possibly other benefits?
No. I am designing something to do this though.
Very good videos with a lot useful information, but you can talk to us if want! :D
Cheers. Would love to be on camera or even talk, but that's not something that comes easily.
Awesome video mate. I have an Arduino NANO board on the way to use with Megadrive++ on my Mega Drive II PC BD MD2 VA1 PAL board. But unfortunately is no good tutorial or guide to follow for the Mega Drive II and i have no idea where to start. Is this Install Demonstration pretty much the same except on how it gets wired to the NANO chip? Thanks.
Hi. Cheers. If you go to my website there are guides for MD2. But not for MD++ (i will make one soon). But other than wiring, it should be the same. Important points are Vid, Lan, Reset Button, Reset Line, Power & Ground. You will have to figure out controller points but there is a map on the guide for Switchless Region & IGR. Cheers
@@ConsolesUnleashed Thanks for the reply, gonna check your website now! I look forward to seeing your guide for MD++ on the MD2 in the future :)
Dude i got a new mega drive model 2, i'am facing a sound issue :/ no sound at all, i tried to replace some capacitors without any success, now iam suspecting IC9 and IC10 which both are LM324G if iam correct, any guidance would be much appreciated :)
I can't be much help in repairs like that, sorry.
Do you think a PAL console and PAL game would play 60hz after a region mod? or would I need a NTSC version game to play? Appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks
The majority of PAL Mega Drive games are made for 60Hz. Unoptimised.
@@ConsolesUnleashed I assume that Streets of Rage 2 has no optimisation. That’s the game I wanna run
@@mr_tomahawk Streets Of Rage 2 runs good when set to 60Hz. But you will need to change the setting from 50Hz to 60Hz after the game boots.
@@ConsolesUnleashed So its not as simple as just doing the switch mod?
@@mr_tomahawk The switch changes the console between three states. 50Hz/English, 60Hz/English, and 60Hz/Japanese. Some games are region locked and will require starting with the correct settings. 50Hz/English is the European region. If you want to play region locked games in 60Hz, you can only change to 60Hz after the game loads and has gone past the region locking. Some games also detect the region and auto optimise some parts of the game. You have to do the same trick to get full 60Hz with these games. Streets of Rage 2 just needs loading in 50Hz and switching over to 60Hz and it will play perfectly in 60Hz. Playing it in 50Hz will result in squished graphics.
How do I get the Hex File on the PIC ? What Hardware do I need?
You need a USB chip programmer.
@@ConsolesUnleashed Thank you very much for the fast reply sir. May you give me further advice? I am totally new to modding. Also I wasnt able to find the stripboard, since I had no clue how far the holes should be away from each other. Do you have a link to purchase these both item? The LED, capacitor etc. I did find. I saw on your page that you have sold mod kits previously, but the stock is 0 :) I did use the contact form on your page. Thank you so much! I am trying to get everything before the weekend.
@@Rayofcommand1337 when did you contact me? Someone did asking about MD2 mod kits but their email was wrong so I could not reply.
@@Rayofcommand1337 ebay is littered with stripboard. Not sure spacing but it should be the most common one that is sold.
@@ConsolesUnleashed thanks a lot, oh damn I really had a typo in my mail address, just did send out a new request ;) with correct mail.
