It's hilarious the light duty Chicken Wire they string up to try to save people in the case of a accident. I guess we have to relive a 1955 LeMans. Those cardboard cutout cars are going to flip into the stands one of these years and behead a few dozen. There is NO WAY I would go to that racetrack, sit that close in a wheelchair!!!!!!!, , and watch Over-Glorified Beach Go-Carts, that try to pass themselves off as Indy cars, but are just death machines to anybody close.
I assure you, the fencing material is not chicken wire (or any variation thereof); it's cyclone fencing. And the horizontal cables are steel braided. I do however agree with you that that is a very precarious place from which to view the track should a wheel/suspension pieces fly over the fence like last year/'87 (where a man was killed up high in the bleachers from sane) or, God forbid, a tragedy like the '82 demise of Gordon Smiley. My days of attending are long gone (last in '86).
Thank you for your comment! I had a lot of fun and although it could be dangerous I did not stay there that long. I thought it was a cool experience and if it's not your thing you don't have to go! All I know is next time I go I'm paying for a suite because the rain sucked! I hope you had a great weekend and memorial day!
Luckily they sell out every single year (over 350,000 people) so they won't be hurting if you don't show up. Nearly a half century with ZERO driver deaths and ZERO spectator deaths. Zero.
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the feedback, it means a lot! I agree, the fixed angle really does give you a better sense of speed. I hope you have a great week! 😎
Thanks for the comment! As I replied elsewhere I wasn't there long and I'm glad I got to experience this spot for the short time I did because it's not something I do often and may never do again. That being said, if it's not for you then you don't have to go, but I think staying for a short period isn't that big of a deal especially as I got away just fine! I hope you have a great week! 😎

TV needs more fixed camera angles like this. It really gives you a sense of the speed.

Wow. They're fast.
Nice view. Good speed shot
I agree Mike
👍 🏁🏁 👍
It almost doesn't matter where your sitting. A tire or piece of the car could get you almost anywhere. But I'm definitely not going to sit that close.
