Thanks so much! This is an important posture in many cultural traditions. I'm teaching it to a Muslim gentleman who needs to practice it during prayer. Gradual development is very important! 🙏
Missing Aikido as I am, after 10 months of social distancing and a closed dojo, I've found in your tutorials a practical way to feel connected with the art. Thank you, happy new year and the best wishes from Argentina.
Hi I found your channel from the video you did with Karate Dojo waKu. I know Aikido gets a bad reputation because people tend to think it's just the drills and it wouldn't work against a resisting opponent. I had never actually seen it used practically until you guys were sparing. I'd love to see some more real sparing videos. I'm fascinated by the practical application of Aikido.
To be fair, the large majority of Aikido is based on kata-geiko, and practicality is really not the primary objective. I personally train for other reasons so I will never claim any efficacy, in the street or elsewhere. That said, the training format can be a little narrow and I quite like to exchange with other arts (I prefer that term to that of sparring). Yusuke asked me to show him some Aiki concept within the context of his own shotokan sparring format, and that's what I tried to do. It is what it is, but at least, I think that the respect and good atmosphere are palpable. I'm surely glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot, all the best to you too and hopefully, you'll be able to get back on the mat soon!
Tres intéressant. Merci beaucoup Guillaume.
Superb! I couldn't add more details on this. Thank you!
Thank you for explaining the cultural background, much appreciated!
Domo arigato gazaimashita! My technique has been a bit sloppy and this has helped tighten up the slack!
Sensei, buen lunes, feliz y bendecido inicio de semana, gracias 🙏
Thank you Sensei Guillaume, most helpful.
Such a seemingly basic motion, but full of purpose
superb. thank you.
Merci Guillaume pour ces explications. J'aimerais partager cette vidéo sur Facebook, mais je n'y arrive pas. 😊

Ty!
I had that question about thumbs in for many years.
Is there any other explanation that you have heard?
There are other hand formations that involve the thumb being inside the fist, but it's more advanced material.
