Great food for thought. Looking forward to the next video to. I had cat 6 installed 5 years ago when we did major renovations. But the contractor disappeared and never hooked anything up. I still want to move forward with that.
Thankyou, glad you liked it! That's terrible! Is it just not terminated with connectors at the wall? If so it's not tough and doesn't require much in the way of tools to finish those off...and doesn't take much time if you do a few here and there. Assuming that the cables in the walls and the ends are just not done
Having a smart home for years, home automation stuffs are scaring people off, when selling, unless you run into a smart home enthusiast, turn everything dumb, I don't know elsewhere, but in eastern Canada, the realtors are even devaluating the value of a house when automated... Like you said this is hard to hear when you know how much money and time you have invested in that...
It can be crushing as a geek to know not everyone recognizes our work! Thankyou for that comment, that is good to know. I wasn't sure what to expect with this video, if a bunch of people would say 'but no my house it was great' or if I'd see more affirmations that it really doesn't go well. To hear that the houses can actually be devalued is scary but...good know. Thankyou for the kind comment!
@@geektoolkit I live in a neighbourhood where every house has been delivered with some basic home automation system, most of people are keeping it to control the front yard lighting (this is an agreement with the city, we provide the street lighting instead of the ugly street poles). Besides that, most of them have replaced everything with dumb devices. What is not helping, is the dumb salesmen in hw stores that are selling the wrong type of del bulbs and after the fact telling people to buy their dimmer to fix the issue... Long story short :)
