I love watching penguins. But do they really sound like that? Maybe they just had the volume turned way up but they sounded horrific when you pushed that button. LOL. I can see how the layout is similar to the Baltimore aquarium. I always love aquariums because I find them to be very relaxing in addition to educational. Thanks for taking us along!
Actually, they do! I've watched a number of videos from Antarctic expedition cruises, and when you're at a penguin colony, where there are hundreds or thousands of penguins, it is extremely loud like that. It amazes me that mates can find each other in all that noise.
As someone who is currently working in the building, I can tell you that those sounds for the penguins are accurate. The Little Blues are no longer at the NEAq but they were the loudest of the three. The Africans sound like that, hence why one of their nicknames is the Jackass Penguin (due to them sounding like donkeys). The Rockhoppers rarely make that sound but it is distinct when they do...
