I remember when I heard the song Richmond North of Richmond for the first time it blew me away but more importantly it forced me to reflect on how corrupt our politicians are. At least a vast majority of them. On both sides of the aisle. This song to me reminds me that we can lose our way to a point where nothing matters in life to the point we can hurt ourselves or others.
3 things: 1. Great observations. 2. I don't think the song is literally autobiographical, but I think it's mentally autobiographical. When I was a drunk(20 years ago), there were certain points of my life that were completely fantastical. It took me years of sobriety to realize that those things were extremely exaggerated in my mind or completely fabricated.. 3. I've listened to the whole album in order a bunch of times, and it totally reminds me of a country/blues version of Pink Floyd's The Wall.
I’m glad you listened to this version. I feel it has more depth than the original one on you tube. Dude definitely know how to tell a tale and set a mood!
I don't have a thing to add to your excellent analysis. Thank you,
