"Not cool, I wanted the blood to stay". What a guy thing to say.😂
Your right that's not the way you want to start out your Day just do your best to keep it clean I broke my ankle out in Iowa 80 truck stop and drove all the way home in Maryland before I had it looked at the cast lasted one day because I couldn't push the clutch pedal in if I had to do it all over again I'd just stay home and relax. I still enjoy your channel thank again for sharing
He did a fine job with the closure of that laceration.
Wow, that was a wicked looking cut! Enjoyed seeing Opie again even at home. Hopefully, he gets to travel with you on a future trip. The flooded fields, yards and roads were awful in Correctionville. I can't imagine what the towns people are going through. Be careful out there!
Hope it heels up for ya Schmidt, Opie looks like he really misses the Big Road.
The mower was not even running and you cut it that bad! Holy cow. Those blades must be really sharp! Stay safe, heal quickly!
I wanna know what Opie & Jax said when they seen that clever move. Kurt please keep it clean with antibiotic sauv. Because that was a rusty /dirty mower blade. So glad your alright and strong minded. Drive carfully .
Lots of water, Beryl came inland where my son lives, just north of Houston, lost lots of limbs, and his fencing all got blown down, thankfully no car or house damage, electricity out a long time ago
Take good care, Kurt. That is a brutal cut. I am glad that it doesn't seem to hurt as bad as it looks:)
Yikes 😬 That looks painful Kurt. Follow the doctor’s orders and keep it clean!!!
OOOF! I'm just glad you didn't cut tendons. At least you knew the blades were sharp. I understand, Sarah. I'm married to one of those guys too. Just tape it. It'll be fine.🙄 I hope you had a great 4th. God bless.
Lol Heather.
It is good to see You, hope the family and Dad are well? Take Care and watch the cut. God Bless.
+ Please , if you feel or notice any minimal swelling or pain ; you have to go back to the clinic right away to have it re-opened and re-disinfected with a lot less stitches and a prescription drug anti biotic , it’s serious . Hopefully it was cleaned throughly before stitching …
I had thought there was a possibility of injury doing a job like trucking. Many long hours. Many miles. Weather and road condition and other drivers = Stress. In this case, a mower.
Get well soon!
Glad u didn't cut worse. Be safe out there.
Hi there. I was surprised you did not have your hazards on Kurt. I am sorry you cut your hand replacing the blade on the mower. Be safe & safety 1st. God's blessings today & always 🙏🏻 ❤
Wow! Excellent cut! That’s going to take some time to heal. I’m glad it wasn’t worse
Well the hand could have been a lot worse. I’ll be glad when Opie is back in truck. He’s the true star of the show….😂
KURT HOLY DANG I PRAY YOU ARE OK WOW !! BEAUTIFUL DAY THERE ! 🇺🇸🚂🇺🇸🚂🙏🙏
That Doc did a fine job patching you up
Glad all is ok Kurt, stay safe and hope Opie is back with ya real soon on the road I like seeing his.
Good job Kurt... yeah we have all been there... I still have teenage years scares from working on my motorcycles.
Hey i know just had complete elbow replacement surgery June 18 on my right arm the pain before was more painful than the surgery and after. Hope you recover safe travels Kurt
Did exactly the same thing about 25 years ago. Tightening mower blade, socket slipped, got the same finger and knuckle. Only 6 stitches though. Keep it as clean as you can. Wear the scar proudly.
I hope your hand gets better. Glad it wasn’t worse than it was. I’m a new fan of your channel. Keep up the awesome trucking videos and be safe.
ohhhhhhh, man!!!! really hope you're feeling better........ dang...!
Be Careful with your hand. Hope it heals quickly.
Thanks for the video trucking with Schmidt
I got a cut like that when I was 13, on the beach cutting a piece of wood with my knife, a cut like that over my first finger knuckle, the skin opened up and the knuckle bone sticking right out. I went up to the house. Cleaned it best I could, held hand in open position so the skin would come together. Got out the sewing kit and gave myself 3 stitches, wrapped it up with my boxing wraps. still have a nice little scar. Grew up an Alaskan Kid.
Holy crap !!!! Alaskan kids are crazy tough. Lol
Hey man, I messed up my hand MINOR last year and TOUGHED IT OUT and kept driving/working..
Keep an eye on that wound because my dumbass wound up in a hospital bed connected to an IV for 5 days due to a serious infection..
Be safe out there.. God bless
I feel your setback. I caught my wedding ring on a door of a front end loader. Took like 11 stitches.
It was a dam good cut keep making videos
Get well soon Kurt , my neighbor was doing the same as you except the mower started when he was tightening the blade and lost 3 fingers , always pull the spark plugs out when doing anything under your mower deck.
Ouch brother 😮 hope you will be ok
This is exactly why I never sharpen my lawnmower blades! Get well soon!
Did that once.was sharpening a knife.it slipped and the palm side of my middle finger on left hand got cut,all the way to the bone.i was a few miles out in the woods so wrapped a white handerchief on it.when i walked into ER the nurse said,oh the red handerchief trick.anyway had to get stitches.still have the scar.probably about 45 years ago.i got the dumba** award that day.
Kurt, go to Harbor Freight and get you a package of (string knit white cotton gloves) you can cut the fingertips off. It will allow your hand to get air and keeps it clean.
Been there, done that. Exactly the same number of stitches, but in the heel of my hand. Not fun! Todd the retired trucker.
Use impact, I put blades on with number 2, take off on 4.
Kurt while I was looking at your wrapped up and on the shifter I just noticed you got a gold Stryker radio back so I guess it's fixed❤❤
Ouch. Neosporin caused me a reaction. It’s harsher to dermatologist said. Doc recommended polysporin. Not sure if they make it anymore. Just keep it dry and bandaged and keep an eye on it. I Just lost a good friend of over 50 years to sepsis.
Kind of looks like when my right hand ran into the back of my shop saw blade!
Be extra careful SCHIMDT 🏥
Ouch. So sorry. Try to stay safe
Reminds me when I cut my left index finger open on the knuckle. I could see inside my finger. I felt fortunate though it was just my finger and it could be stitched up. There was a guy in the next area over in the ER who cut his leg open deeply. I wasn't the priority that day. OH, you ended up with the same amount of stitches as I did. I was fun for two weeks taking a shower and washing until I got the stitches out. Baggy when I showered to keep it dry worked great. I put Neurosporin on that finger a day or two before the stitches came out and it was not painful at all. Worst part was starting to use that finger again. It was straight for so long that it didn't want to bend. Took a while but I can use it fully. Praying for complete healing and no long term consiquences. Things happen and glad it wasn't worse.
That looks like it went fairly deep. I hope you take care of it. It's you shifting hand after all. Get well soon bud
Sorry to hear about you slicing up your hand Kurt. Glad you didn’t take out anything important. A bit of ice and some of the new Neosporin with pain relief works great for 3 or 4 days. Tylenol works well too.
Please please take care. Early stages maybe just lightly immobilize. If there is swelling try ice pack using an ice pack bag, or baggie wrapped in cloth napkin or frozen peas, corn also wrapped in thin cloth layer. Veges are reusable refreeze but not for consumption.
Hands down. Best trucking/family man on youtube. Can't wait to keep watching your channel grow.
Took it like a champ. I’m full of stitches haha. Glad you’re ok.
If you’re ever in Evansville Indiana, would be nice to meet ya.
I did the same thing hanging a garage door opener. And trimming carpet
Great video bad cut but it look good with the stitches on there hope you get better soon driver
That bandage wrap? Go to any farm store (Farm and Fleet, etc) and go in the horse aisle and get "Vet Wrap". It's 1/6 the price of any pharmacy and homes in like 10 colors. It's under two bucks for a big roll.
I'm guessing Doc Sawbones is a fly fisher. With skills like that, fly tying would be a cinch. Cheers and stay safe, Kurt. 👍✌
Nice suture’s. Job well done
As my dad would say, it's a long way from your heart. Time to go back to work. 😊
You are absolutely hilarious 😂😂 I love your sense of humor. My mom was originally from Richland, Ia. She passed away in 2015 of pneumonia. My best friend for sure❤❤
Nice self-inflicted gash to the hand .the doctor did A plus job on the repair. 7 days you be ok .safe travels driver 🙏
I’m going to Greenfield for lunch tomorrow!! I live about an hour to the east. 🌞🌞🌞
Hope it heals fast. That looked like a cut my grandson got right between his eyes. (Fell on the steps of a slide). Keep On Truckin" God Bless
Clean the cut often and clean gauze.you will be healed in no time Curt!!HAPPY TRAILS!
-bag balm works good 4 cuts like that.its made in vt and comes in a green tub.its a jelly.if youve never used it kurt u should try it .good stuff.
Jeepers !!! Kurt, I watch your channel for peace tranquility and comedic value......next thing I know I'm watching saving private Ryan with all the blood and guts, I hope feeling better.
Looks like you might consider trading in the 18 speed for an automatic 😊 lol....take care my friend God bless you and the family
Thats one way of getting out of mowing the lawn! lol I see the old CB back on the dash.
Have a great day Kurt.
Yep. The 🌋 lamp is back
Well, one thing is for sure you sharpened the mower blade very well.
So sorry fella! It’ll throb something fierce for 48 hours but it looks like you got good care. Hope the tendon is okay. Good luck!
45 years ago I put my right hand through a window, it's a long story, I had over 100 stiches. The cut zig zagged across my fingers and my hand. I was a cashier at the time and punching that old school register was not fun. It hurt, it throbbed, and it made sure I would not touch another window with wet hands ever again. Keep it high, lift it above you when you sleep. Keep it clean and change those bandages often. That doctor deserves a cookie, those are some really neat stitches! Take care and if you go past Ottumwa tell it hi from T in Texas.
Ouch that looks nasty , hope you feel better soon , sending regards from the UK , keep on truckin , regards to the german from my dog Einstein
Hi Kurt and Opie
I had lower back surgery and i still had to mow lawn😂😂😂
Wow, that's sucks Mr. Schmidt. And right on the knuckle! That's gonna be so sore. Hope it mends quickly! I use to wrap the mower blades with rags (just in case), and I also removed the wire from the spark plug -- hope you did that.
The tragic story of the flooding in Iowa has been overtaken by tornadoes, politics and the latest set of mass shootings. But we can see that things haven’t totally recovered and we’ll continue to remember your neighbors in thought and prayer. Be safe, Kurt. Yeah, we saw the hand - sometimes we are our own worst enemies, right? But you gotta get the jobs done. 💕🛣️🚛
I thought it tickled lol Kurt I know that feeling
Ouch! That's heck of a gouge.
The skeeters were feasting on your dome when you were picking up your trailer.
oooooo noooo my goodness that looks bad bless your heart Sir
Oh, so NOW i get why you have that tall stick. It's to keep your hand up high if you hurt your self. That's some forward thinking!
I could’ve swore I saw you by cedar rapids this morning around 11:20am ,either way fella you need gloves! Man that was a brutal cut.
heal well. ouch. 😮
wow Mr. Kurt be careful my friend i was working on my push lawn mower i deal with the blade bolt i think i got it repair i hope so take care of yourself please
The cut isn't too gross it's when pan back to your Mug😂😂😂😂🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
😂😂😂😂
Take Care ❤❤❤😀😀
You to Ken
It does look good. Just be careful with what you do today.
Good lord! That's one heckova gash!! That's one beautiful town! I live in dry southern California and would give anything to move to a place like that!
Yikes... That looks like its gonna suck when it starts to itch and pull.. Truly sorry that happened hope it heals fast and be safe... don't wanna get that infected ... Thank you for creating and sharing this with us..
Sorry you cut your hand! I hate it for you! Had my share of stitches! I always wear leather gloves when I sharpen the mower blades! Enjoy watching your channel!
I was waiting for you to mention the throbbing, only gets worse the first couple days, lol.
😂😂 driving with that wrap make you look like the undetaker from smack down
Old farmers say yer lucky... most of them were missing a few fingers... they kept on working.😂❤
That hospital pain killer wears off.. YIKES!!
Kurt, they did do good. The bandage material that they used is called Coban, it is reusable, it sticks to itself. Also not a fan of neosporin, I use aquaphor instead. Please keep it clean and don’t overuse it, you could pop a stitch.
Be careful I done the same thing but the palm of my hand when fooling up my lawn mower but I live far from a hospital so I took care of it myself took two weeks to fully heal. I used the old timey burns like h@@@ stuff to keep it clean and keep it covered and can barely tell I cut it
Ouch. The palm would be much worse.
Dang kurt! Yall need to wear gloves. Also you’re spot on about not being able to use your strong hand. I messed my thumb up bout a year ago and at 62 yrs i had to relearn a few things.😂 stay safe and keep on truckin!
At our age, we need to slow it down and focus, lol. Use a laxtex glove then it will stay in place.
That will teach you to talk back to THE BOSS LADY at home.😀
Chicks dig scars Kurt!
God I hate when wrenches slip everything gets hurt. I'm glad it wasn't any worse. Be safe handy! Lol😂
Another thing I like to do when I remove a lawn mower blade, especially if it's been a year longer is replace the lock washer. You can get a bag of them for a couple bucks.
Nice gash Kurt!!! DAYUM.
Last year I cut the tops of 3 fingers on my left hand on a petrol mower
Kurt, What did you do? Im glad you got it stitched up and cleaned out. I am currently waiting to get loaded in Kentland, Indiana myself.
Safe travels sir.
