This week Tom, our lead designer at Antler Studios goes through how he designs our open world puzzle game in Unreal Engine 4! We'd love to know what other topics you'd like us to feature: from running an indie studio to game developing in UE4, let us know and comment below ⤵️

A little off topic but: when building an open world game, one thing you need to remember is that the journey should be as the destination, instead of using fast travel make the players go on an adventure they will never forget before getting to the next real destination!
Sunset overdrive pulled this off perfectly, many other open world games didn't really do what overdrive did and used fast travel as an excuse.

Outside of sunset overdrive there is super mario Odyssey, minecraft (in a weird way), and a few others.

Wow, that game looks amazing. I love all the details, the animations (especially the brewing anim) and the textures (are they handpainted?) Keep up the great work!

Does this still apply if I want to make open-world games for other types of people?
