From Davao to Zamboanga to Jolo - this is an introduction to Tausug culture, the beauty of the island province, and so much more!
It was a unique feeling to hold a ferry ticket going to Jolo. I had to read it a few times, to convince myself this was really happening.
Sulu, a province with a history of unrest and conflict, has recently opened up to tourism. It has been declared free from the ASG which put off visitors for many years - so let's dig deeper, and see what we find!
I had a couple of days in Zamboanga first, so we also explored there - something I like to do, as you can see the cultural links to the islands past it.
IMPORTANT - DO NOT GO TO SULU UNLESS YOU COORDINATE FIRST WITH THE SULU PROVINCIAL TOURISM OFFICE. THIS IS MANDATORY.

Zamboanga and that region was my mother's home town. I miss hearing Chavacano because my both my mom and her family are mostly gone or too far away.

One day. maybe. I'll visit this place again also. The last time I was here in Jolo was more than two decades ago. That is if I'll have a chance to. I'm happy to see you both made it and back safely too. Sorry I could not be with you on your way back. Just had a very Daot week. Plus, all of my footage went kaput because my phone went Daot. Including the one's in the airport and at the hotel.

When there was a foreigner kidnapped and murdered it was spreading very badly for one or two that had happened, it literally killed the rest of the good things about the places and people and it included that whole Mindanao , without understanding or accepting it , that’s when Mindanao got the bad reputation. Besides the wrong assumption about Mindanao,the Muslims was left being judged as bad people and it was all wrong to think they are as bad news was spreading in Manila, so majority of people in the Philippines believed it was true. Now it is heading towards good perceptions ,good news and the bad stories are disseminating and disappearing, maybe when former Pres. Duterte took actions and give attentions to the Muslims people how to treat them, visiting them and even brought their leaders to Malacanang Palace where the President resides or meet officials ,the peace, the smiles and friendliness of Muslims and all other unknown group of ethnicity was given attention ,the welcoming from these people from other places, other country begun to grow and thrive now thanks to Pres. DUTERTE ,we now able to visit those places without fear and worries instead we each other treating as one Filipinos. With KD doing it as well , it’s all good! Hurray peace to Mindanao and to all Filipinos in the Philippines!
It's almost a whole different world in terms of....a disbelieve...the fact that you cannot just travel to a certain part of the country....now, I know there several countries as wel with the same limitations like in South America or Africa...but since that I don't have a connection with those regions, it feels differently towards the Philippines.....I'm born here...but feels awkward that this is the reality....it's not imaginable or comparable...but Nort-and South Korea probably the best example.....I don't know.....but on topic. It's a good thing Anselm is showcasing this trip.....but les us not exaggerate that it is now all good. There is still a long way to go people!

I love this, such exotic locales. I don’t mean to be crass, but does all this street food ever cause intestinal issues? KD must have a stomach of steel. I would be sweating and looking for a toilet!
I've not had any issues with the street food... It's always well cooked 😀
They need to clean up their towns like in Malaysia or Brunei if they want to attract tourists.

Some places have starlink which is great, data is slow though
