    Interesting reading peoples experience of their test. I failed first attempt for leaving an indicator on 😞, which was fair and no complaints. So today had my resit test for all of 5 minutes. Right up to the point Examiner rear-ended me :-0 no damage or harm done to me or him. He did dropped his bike though. Typical Busy Roundabout I was needing to turn right, seen a potential space after a car had past, as I started to move I saw another car coming fast on to the inside lane where I would need to position my self so decided it wasn't safe to go so stopped, not too fast Rear brake if I remember and I hadn't got over the give way line at the time.
    Both a little shook up. I was told he was doing me a favour and classing it as a No Test not a fail. So now need to book in for another go. Feeling a little gutted to say the least and confidence has been knocked somewhat. Was also a little annoying particularly as he carried on with the next persons test. He didn't apologise or accept any blame at all, I think that is what is more frustrating from my point and what knocks the confidence more so.

      Oh dear that is both unfortunate and very frustrating for you. The examiner was right not to "fail" you, because effectively you've both been in a collision. They certainly weren't doing you a favour by calling it a "no test", it simply wasn't sensible to carry on. Examiners probably don't want to be seen to be admitting any sort of liability therefore will try to avoid any hint of blame or apology.
      Hopefully next time around all will go well for you. One of the first things we learn as instructors is not to proceed in moving off until we are 100% certain the student ahead has actually moved off. Examiners should have the same approach really, regardless of whether they think you're about to move off or not. How frustrating for you 😔

      It’s so annoying that other people have so much influence on your test.
      The guy I was riding to test with had a similar story to you, without the rear ending. He has a gap on a roundabout , a car came rapidly and indicated wrongly, he braked, examiner said he shouldn’t have gone and failed him.

      @motorcyclelessonsuk Thought I would let you know the outcome, The Test centre managed to fit me in this week, I think as a goodwill gesture. It looks like the test centre got examiners In on overtime to help get through a few more test. I got a free test and able to claim for my instructors time and bike hire with him confirming I paid for the day. I'm glad to say I passed, with 2 minors, annoyingly for a delayed turning off of an Indictator, I'm not sure where as I thought I turned it off everytime, and I didn't find it left on once when it shouldn't have been, but I was I the habbit of hitting it every now and then just in case, I think it maybe I didn't hit the button quite first-time and luckily I caught it a bit later. 2nd minor Undue Hesitation, again not sure where, but was not surprised I was a little more cautious on Junctions and roundabouts after last week and made absolutely sure I could go before any movement forward. The one place I think it might of been was on a housing estate near a school, turning right 2 cars approaching from the left, a fair way off, thought I could go but in my head the test was started early it was nice day I was enjoying it I won't rush out especially as a few kids about lots of parked cars etc, but the cars were traveling very slow and by then I thought I wish I went.

    Hi, I'm booked in for my mod 1/2 training and your videos have been so so helpful!
    Question about 7:54 - if you don't cancel your signal by the time you reach the junction would that be a fail? I'm a little slow with signal cancelling sometimes, would it in that case be better to not signal when moving off, or do you always signal when moving off?

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi, glad you're finding the channel useful.
      To move off the only time we would not indicate is if the road was totally clear of anyone else, including pedestrians. Otherwise you hauls be letting people know you are moving off.
      If there is a vehicle at a junction and you have left your indicator on, you can fail. If there are no vehicles waiting at a junction and you have left your indicator on you may gain a fault which could turn into a fail if you continue to leave it on such that you approach another junction where there is a vehicle waiting.
      Thanks 😊

    First time I was asked to pull over, I went to pull away and the bike jolted so I pulled in the clutch and started again and the rest of the test I was close to tears thinking I failed.. I actually passed with 1 minor and that was for appropriate speed I was a bit under the speed limit at times... just goes to show they might not see everything.. that and maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought it was....

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  10 місяців тому +1

      Haha, I suspect they saw it, but there are many errors which are classed as "not-worthy faults", so it's a mistake but not bad enough or was corrected well enough that they don't mark it as a fault. Well done on passing 👍😊

    Blimey, I passed my test over 45 years ago...I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have a chance in hell these days... I just haven't got enough headspace to remember it all. Funny you talked about car drivers taking their bike test in one of your previous videos, and how it wasn't always an easy transition, I did it the other way round... I rode a moped for a year before taking my test on a Yamaha RS100 in '76 then started learning in a car a few months later (Mom paid for the lessons as she wanted to get me off the bike into a car 🤣)
    My lady instructor (very rare back then) got me to turn right into a tight side road, there was a car parked on my side of the road about 20m in, there was a truck coming the other way so I waited and flashed my headlights a couple of times. After the truck driver came through and we carried on she said something like 'That truck driver is thinking 'there is no way he's a learner' Just as I was feeling pretty chuffed with myself she said something like 'Do that on your test and you will fail' 🙁

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  10 місяців тому +1

      Ah yes, the flashing of the lights would have been what she was referring to, as on your test you're not supposed to be seen to be directing other road users in case it isn't safe. Leaving the gap for them to come through would've been acceptable, without the flashing of headlights. Daft really, as in the real world we all know what we would have done!
      Your mum sounds like a sensible lady 😂😉

      At 4.10 Leanna, thats possibly a whole video in itself, indicating when vehicles are coming up behind you, unless it's a constant stream of crawling queuing traffic (please let me out!!) coming past you. Nothing worse than coming up to a stationary vehicle, with right hand signal flashing away...it just causes anxiety "are you pulling out"?.... "do you want me to let you out?"..... "are you going after I've passed in which case why are you telling me?"... Its a great discussion point and one forgotten about by even experienced riders/drivers.

    I've got one question.
    My instructor was taught me when parked somewhere safe on the left, after checking mirrors and shoulders when no traffic behind i shouldn't indicate right to get off. Becouse you indicating to no-one. It's clear road behind you.
    It's this correct?

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  10 днів тому +1

      @@bodziobsz if the road is totally clear in both directions and there are no pedestrians about or cars emerging from nearby side roads then yes, I wouldn't indicate. However on the test I don't see any harm in indicating to move off anyway, in case you've missed something, just making sure you cancel it. Your choice. Thanks for the question 👍

    Hi I was on my mod 2 pulled over in a safe place cancelled my signal …pull away when your ready ..checked my mirror a car was coming .. I thought I’ll wait until they pass us …they stopped right behind the examiner …I thought what are they doing …nothing in the way to stop them coming past ..I waited about 30 seconds ..then they past us …did my mirror checks signal and life saver …he marked me down for hesitation …if I had done my checks indicated and the car started moving as I pulled out ..that would have been dangerous surlely ?

    • @motorcyclelessonsuk
      @motorcyclelessonsuk  3 місяці тому +1

      Ahhh this s difficult for me to comment because it depends on the situation at hand. By your description, 30 seconds is a very long time to wait, but it may have been less than that, either way, the examiner saw an opportunity when you could have gone and didn't. If you didn't fail, I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's just one of those things that happens on test 😊
