Kind of similar, in the real game they were pulling with the rope in their waists whilst in the show, we see them pull in their armpits and their lower abdomen leaning back but I have no idea if it’s the same because I’m no tug of war expert.
Yes the technique itself does work but realistically with 3 females and an old man on the team vs a team of all males even this wouldnt help. Still a good series

I can confirm that the old man’s way is a copy version of real life pro tug of war game.
so soon as you see the other team leaning right the way back all your team has to do is lunge forward send them on their butts and then win the game.
The pro teams don't alternate on the rope but they do practically everything else. I have not seen a pro team alternate on the rope
No it ain't stoopid. They not on different sides back and fourth stoopid and not leanwdlike them. Thats a proper Tug--Of-War stance
