There is a live video feed from the helicopter. Its called fpv (first person view). If the battery dies in the air you crash. You just have to be smart and land before your flight time is up.
Yes, I've subscribed to TYT's channel for 3-4 years now. What drew me to your quad was how stable it seemed and what little jello you got in your video. I didn't wan't to spend all the research and build time but the Phantom didn't seem to deliver. I'm a video producer with multi-cam facility and need the UAV for a show I'm working toward.
FYI as someone who has been in the video production field for over 30 years now I would sincerely check with an insurance agent about a simple liability policy before you start to shoot anything but most certainly if your plans include a category that has people in it. If your "aircraft" were to crash on someone or something they just might sue you for who knows what. I would also get a production agreement with the sponsoring group that includes a liability waver.
You can get all the parts at hobbyking. Parts needed are NTM Prop Drive 28-26 1200KV motors also get 28 series accessory kits to mount props etc. 4 X 25 amp Plush Esc's, KK2.0 Flight Controller with LCD, quad power distribution board, 4-6 connectors from receiver to FC board, load of 3.5mm bullet connectors. First build was scratching my head about parts etc but figured it out. Also get 9x4.5 blades, 2 CW & 2 CCW I used GWS ones. Will have to post a video on my quad:) Costs about $200 plus post.
The quadcopter he sell is a dji F450, it's not the one you see in the video. You also got: -Includes preassembled and tested Sport Quad -2 Batteries, Battery Charger -Spektrum DX6i -Fat Shark PredatorV2 FPV System.
Check out in description : "Range : 5 miles", i think he can go more far with dragonlink but he is maybe restricted because of video transmitter but it is pretty good for this setting!
Hi, Great looking quad.... I was wondering if you're using Dragon Link for RC control (433 MHz) why the DL receiver antenna looks so short, it looks to be the same length as the 2.4 GHz antenna, so if it's a 1/4 wavelength antenna for 433, shouldn't it be about 7" or 8" in length? Thanks
Thank you for the nice video. I am interested in building one. How much did you spend to build one? and where can i get the specs and the necessary items to build the quad copter?
How many minutes of flight time do you get with this setup ? You should take your copter to the King Of The Hammers off road race at Johnson Valley,CA. The event goes from Feb. 3rd to Feb. 9th. Main race is on Feb. 8th. If you battery life is long enough, you would get some awsome footage.
Nice video mate. Can you or someone else tell me what is the furthest realistic range a quad can go using over the counter gear. I know some people follow the quad in a car to boast the signal, however I mean using purely bought gear to achieve the furthest distance. Many thanks
your aereal videos are the best i have seen so far. somehow i see that the copter flies super fast or you speeded the video but it looks natural. now my question is, will i be able to do the same kind of videos using just your equipment?
Hey Daniel, so this is what I've found regarding the problem with one motor giving out when using a 4S. You're right, it's not the battery, it's the ESC! I've noticed that one motor connected to a particular ESCs stiffens (stops spinning way before the others) while connected to the ESC. Spins just fine when I unplug it from the ESC. Could this be causing my quad to go down? Did I get a faulty ESC? What do you think?
Of course thats a big difference in the $10,000 ive seen. I wish i could rent this for a real estate contract i'm workin on. THis has a great stabilizer versus the one's i have seen. is this straight from the go pro with no stabilizer plugin?
How much does this all cost, i would like to have a price list. i could not find that information on your site, it would nice to have a price to know what i am looking at. thank you..
Sweet setup! Just curious about the 2 antenna..1 is for your dragonlink receiver and one is for FPV I assume? why do you have 2 cameras? 1 for FPV and one for recoding? Why? Does it drain your batteries? Again, sweet setup man!
Gyroscopic force of the motors turns the quad round which is why there are two motors that run clockwise and two that run anti-clockwise :) If they all ran in the same direction it would just spin :)
Awesome vid bro. I'm just getting into multi-rotors and FPV, and appreciate you listing out all the components you used on this rig. What props are you using on it?
mind my asking but can you watch the camera footage live (hence you can manuveur the helicopter by watching a screen somewhere) or do the camera just record the flight (hence you control the helicopter by simply watching at it from a distance) ? p.s.: i tried to look into additional information but: how much do the cameras cost?
I use 6 earbuds made from memory foam :) just cut two pieces of plywood about 10cm x 10cm then cut the earbuds in half. Also drill a couple of holes for your mounting bolts on one of the plates. Then glue the cut earbuds evenly spaced down both sides of the plywood square. Glue them to the plywood with thick superglue not the runny stuff :) Once finished you should have a nice strong anti vibe sandwich! Remember your GoPro needs to hang underneath and also BALANCE YOUR BLADES for it to work :)
Because the bigger esc's are bulkier and heavier, which reduces the mileage, and I assume that you don't plan on consistently running a whopping 120 amps on that tiny little quad! I know a friend who flies a quadrotor and he does everything he could possibly do to his quad just to make it lighter and he probably shaved off half a pound!
I want to buy the hexacopter, but some videos that i see with the gopro camera on it are not steady and this video is steady. My question is, how do you take those steady/stabilized shots?
Thanks for the upload looking forward to more over the summer and as always great video. What is the upper limit for flight times with this rig setup you have?
Great video!! i have showed a ton of people. However, we all have the same question. How did you control it so high up and far away? Did you have a live camera or something? Also what happens when the battery dies that high up? haha
Does your one battery, power both the quad AND your FPV transmitter? And if so, can you just solder the power wires straight to the transmitter and quad, or do you need some kind of power distributor?
Impressed with your build. It looks very light. My heavy Y6 sounds the same in flight. Do you think the rattling oscillating sound is coming from the Gopro it's case?
5 miles range? Wow...I'm just investigating all this FPV stuff. For that long view as you zoom away from yourself what's the total cost of everything you used (including screens, receivers, GPS anything like that)? Also, is it really as quiet as it sounds or have you post-processed the sound on the vid?
The cheapest you could go would be around $350, for a decent FPV quad. That would be the price for all the parts though, so you would still have to know how to put it together.
Let's not also discount the acquired skill to operate one of these in such a way as you have. No doubt you've been quite busy lately. Innovation. Got to love it. Great Job, quite impressive. And you're modest about what you do. That's how things always turn out best. When we're so focused passionately about what we're doing. BTW, I'm just learning to fly coaxial helis so I've got a way to go in terms of matching your apparent skill. So cool! Been watching this over and over. The video's awesome.
thanks I was only after the controller, because I have decided to build an xp2 from xpro heli. Buying all there parts off their website and getting the NAZA controller from another website. Going to cost around $1200, though its worth it.
Hey Daniel, can you use a 4S with these motors? I built my first quad with these motors, 40A ESCs, and bought both a 4S and 3S Turnigy 3000mAh batteries. When I fly with the 4S, one motor just gives out. Doesn't burn out, just stops and quad goes down. Flies well with the 3S. Ideas please?
With your 1/8" vertical off-set do to overlapping arms do you notice Naza trying to compensate or 'level' the rotors?.. or any other x/y balance annomolies? Thx in advance
Daniel.... Really nice summary video. I've seen LOTS of your others and like your "reviews" of cams, etc. Could you tell us what you're using for vibration mount for the GoPro, and if you're using stabilization post production, what you're using? Thanks in advance...
need to get me one one :) looks fun to fly... i always wanted to do FVP...what gear are you using for long range controlling ? i have a dx6 not sure if i need to get a thing to make the control range more far .. thanks
While I do see what you mean about the "creepiness," it's no different than anything else. You can put weapons on a plane, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have planes. It's all about how you use the technology. Imagine using a team of these to safely perform search and rescue? Perhaps with infrared imaging you could find someone in an avalanche, etc. It's all about how you use the technology. Very nice video, btw.
What are the settings you use for the ESC's on your sport quad? I have built one, but when I hang a camera under it, pull full power or yaw quickly it begins to dip wildly back and forth went through Naza gain settings and am now wondering if I have ESC setting issues. (My settings are 1. Brake-OFF 2. Battery Type-Ni-xx 3. Cut off type- Soft 4. Cut off Voltage - Low 5. Start Mode - Norm 6. Timing Mode - High 7. Music-Blank 8. Governor Mode-Off.) Thanks in advance - I'm at the end of my rope!
Yes! Cant wait to see more of rctestflight this summer!
Same
There is a live video feed from the helicopter. Its called fpv (first person view). If the battery dies in the air you crash. You just have to be smart and land before your flight time is up.
It can go around 1000ft depending on the pilots experience and the conditions. It comes pretty much completely preassembled.
The prices are in the drop down menu on my site
Best FPV I have seen yet
Yes, I've subscribed to TYT's channel for 3-4 years now. What drew me to your quad was how stable it seemed and what little jello you got in your video. Usually the big ones that carry DSLRs and such are not set up for long range.
There just pieces of orange foam. I use the image stabilization in final cut x

So far this is some of the nicest and most stable Quadcopter footage I've found.
Im in a class at UND, and we are making a quadrotor and programming it to deliver 5 weights to 5 different locations.
The quadcopter he sell is a dji F450, it's not the one you see in the video. You also got: -Includes preassembled and tested Sport Quad
-2 Batteries, Battery Charger
-Spektrum DX6i
-Fat Shark PredatorV2 FPV System.
Check out in description : "Range : 5 miles", i think he can go more far with dragonlink but he is maybe restricted because of video transmitter but it is pretty good for this setting!
Cool shots with this quad! Thanks for posting...Been missing your flying videos, Daniel.
Great video... if you don't mind my asking... What was the total time and cost of the build?
The the quad is so stable it the zoom in and out looks so smooth.
That's a nice steady camera mount you've got there... absolutely minimal vibration, if any at all!
Yeah I saw the foam too. It's very impressive that it's actually absorbing this well. Most quad videos look awful these are very smooth.
WOW! This is totally awesome! There is a very little vibrations with the camera. And the Camera appears to be HD with great quality. I so want one.
Park City UT. Certainly is
Even though I have no idea how to make these and just randomly got here....this is toooooooooo amazing! Great job guy. Hope you use it for good!
You should add an anti vibration kit and gimbal.
Click on the link in the description
insane range.. how u able to fly so far away from the controller? are you able to watch through the camera remotly when u fly so far aswell?
then all you would hear is wind noise. I don't see why you would want audio from a helicopter
wow! this is amazing! The range is just spectacular! I love the scenery around there! Great flying!
Hi,
Great looking quad....

Hey Daniel, awesome video. Is there any chance we could see a build video of this quad or some more specs at least? It looks like a great little quad.
Thank you for the nice video. I am interested in building one. How much did you spend to build one? and where can i get the specs and the necessary items to build the quad copter?
I recommend a FPV sport quad from stratus-productions. com
Why wouldn't a 30A esc be used?
How many minutes of flight time do you get with this setup ? You should take your copter to the King Of The Hammers off road race at Johnson Valley,CA. The event goes from Feb. 3rd to Feb. 9th. Main race is on Feb. 8th. If you battery life is long enough, you would get some awsome footage.

I always use a 4s. Its may be your ESCs
He gets a live feed through FPV. Skype has a slight delay, while the FPV setup he uses will be virtually instantaneous.
My 30A ESCs were getting hot. Anything smaller would have gotten too hot. They were not overkill
your aereal videos are the best i have seen so far. somehow i see that the copter flies super fast or you speeded the video but it looks natural. now my question is, will i be able to do the same kind of videos using just your equipment?
20's might work on a 3s but I'm running 4s
Hey Daniel, so this is what I've found regarding the problem with one motor giving out when using a 4S. You're right, it's not the battery, it's the ESC! Also, will you be making an FPV flight over that one big 3000ft AGL ridge to get a view of Salt Lake City any time soon?
Good for you! So you are able to see what your filming as you fly?
Hey, cool drone, i'm sure you're getting a live feed, what's the range of the drone till it drops it's signal?
Of course thats a big difference in the $10,000 ive seen. I wish i could rent this for a real estate contract i'm workin on. THis has a great stabilizer versus the one's i have seen. is this straight from the go pro with no stabilizer plugin?
If you get a good remote control, like a Turnigy 9x you can get better distance with the mid-grade quads.
Are you using some sort of remote video goggles to watch the onboard camera?
Impressive footage.
Probably about 50 MPH. Yes, I am shipping one to germany today.
Can you please tell me what size aluminum flat bar you used. Great videos, always look forward to viewing them..
How much does this all cost, i would like to have a price list.
i could not find that information on your site, it would nice to have a price to know what i am looking at. thank you..

Wow that branch looked close @2.20 !...Nice vid & great views, I enjoyed watching that.
Awesome vid bro.
I'm just getting into multi-rotors and FPV, and appreciate you listing out all the components you used on this rig.
What props are you using on it?
Can you send a list of things you used to make that quad copter and also the radio you are using please. I want to make one over the summer
Do you document your building of the quad anywhere? I want to build one myself and would really like to learn more about how you put it together.
mind my asking but can you watch the camera footage live (hence you can manuveur the helicopter by watching a screen somewhere) or do the camera just record the flight (hence you control the helicopter by simply watching at it from a distance) ?

Your quad flies real great man I'm jealous of how good it flies.
Do you have anything like dimensions or a list of materials that you used for the H quad you built? To include the FPV system you use, please.
thanks
yep, so where are you up to on this?..do you have a production model? models?...website?
we could use this for a docco next year...
Awesome!
This may be a stupid question to some ppl, but what fo you study to learn how to make r/c heli, planes, etc....?
Glad to see you back
I want to buy the hexacopter, but some videos that i see with the gopro camera on it are not steady and this video is steady. My question is, how do you take those steady/stabilized shots?
how long can you stay up in the air and can i purchase on of these pre made? if so how much.great video thank you.
Ein tolles Gerät um sensationelle Aufnahmen zu gestalten.
Thanks for the upload looking forward to more over the summer and as always great video. What is the upper limit for flight times with this rig setup you have?
When joining the two pieces of aluminium in the middle, did you use one or two bolts?
what is the power of motors used in this ..........
also plz mention me about payload it will lift....
Great video!! i have showed a ton of people. However, we all have the same question. How did you control it so high up and far away? Did you have a live camera or something? Also what happens when the battery dies that high up? haha
Because those dont have all the features the Sport Quad has.

hi i am new to rc so i was wondering wich reciver you are using and can you send me a link where to buy one ? HUGE FAN!!!!
My question is: How can you know where it's going? cause the gopro camera doesn't stream video as I know. Or is there another camera in it?
The cheapest you could go would be around $350, for a decent FPV quad. That would be the price for all the parts though, so you would still have to know how to put it together.
Hi, can you tell me if you're using a real-time system? Comprising the camera and a tv receptor on the ground to fly the quad even without sight?
Let's not also discount the acquired skill to operate one of these in such a way as you have. No doubt you've been quite busy lately. Innovation. Got to love it. Great Job, quite impressive. And you're modest about what you do. That's how things always turn out best. When we're so focused passionately about what we're doing. Which NTM motor is this? 28mm? What kv? How does the quadcopter spin, if there is no motor that can tilt with a servo like on a tricopter?
Daniel.... Really nice summary video. I've seen LOTS of your others and like your "reviews" of cams, etc.
Could you tell us what you're using for vibration mount for the GoPro, and if you're using stabilization post production, what you're using?
Thanks in advance...
Awesome video as always. I fly RC planes but have been dying to build one of these. What is the best way to learn to fly a quadcopter?
I love this. How much would it be to build it versus buying it? What camera are you using? I am so pumped by this.
You should make a video showing how u made this. Maybe a parts list
Nice vid :)
Question : Why don't you use the output on the Gopro for FVP instead of a seperate camera?
Thank's !
Hey Daniel, how did you attach the motors to your frame? Doesn't look like you used the NTM Prop Drive 28 Series Accessory Pack.
need to get me one one :) looks fun to fly... i always wanted to do FVP...what gear are you using for long range controlling ? i have a dx6 not sure if i need to get a thing to make the control range more far .. thanks
Nice.., but you have to work a little bit more on the wind noise...
Very great video. Are you controlling the copter with a pc? Or is it autonomous?
there is something i've been meaning to ask you, and that is were is it you do your filming at? what state or city
While I do see what you mean about the "creepiness," it's no different than anything else. You can put weapons on a plane, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have planes. I bolted them direct ally to the frame
Can you give me a list of the equipment what you used in that quadcopter i want to make one like that
wonderful wood houses! How much could cost one of those? :D

Thanks in advance - I'm at the end of my rope!
If I wanted to buy this ENTIRE setup (accept the gopro) how much would it cost? And can I use a spectrum clever?
