Actually, this is not apply in other country, when i am use to be with this rule, when i am dining on abroad vacation, people just vaping next to my family's table... we can eat food inside coffee@strawberry mist mix together..haha🤪
Here's some more tips: - when crossing the road, some vehicles may flash their lights, DO NOT CROSS as it means "get out of the way". Use your hand (✋) instead to make the vehicles stop. - if you are driving, beware of drunk driver especially at night and please don't drive when you're drunk. - don't shake hands with opposite sex unless they offer first. - wear appropriate clothes when visiting religious places - don't use your tourist privileges here, we don't care. In other words, we respect you so we expect the same in return - you can no longer smoke at the restaurants Enjoy your stay!

If you want to bring some as a gift, you might considered buying 'Musang King' or D29 durians. Please bring at least 10 at least for us to completely satisfied. Secondly, about the umbrella. Actually it just a coincidence malaysians braught an umbrella because most of us are often forget about it. You will be lucky if you have one standby inside of your car. Yep. If food and/or drinks are presented to a visitor but the the visitor is choosing not to bother the host or simply is fulled, just finish off the drinks n taste the food just a bit. It is to honour n to give face to the host. Most importantly in so doing, it would be a subtle act of doa (prayer to Allah) by the visitor wishing blessing, more rezki (sustanance), n prosperity for the host's household. Ultimately, it is only naturally makes sense n common decency n good manners of the visitor.
Little tips In Malaysia, when you mentioned the umbrella, YES you should always carry an umbrella around cause you can't trust the rain, when it rain once and it stops raining, it will start raining the second time, it's pretty annoying, but it can be relaxing. Tip two, NEVER use your left hand, especially when your eating, only use it when your cleaning up after your going to the bathroom, use your right hand instead. Tip three If it's your first time being in Malaysia, please, try to get used to eating with your hands, it's okay if you do want to, but it will consider to show respect. And don't be embarrassed about it. Tip four No cursing, if you want to, do it somewhere else, not in public, it can be very embarrassing. Tip five No drugs or alcohol, yes you can smoke there, but don't do it when you see a sign saying, no smoking. Tip six Don't wear clothes that is reveling, it's disrespectful and disgusting to others who are Muslim, wear jeans, sweaters, etc but just no reveling clothes. Tip seven Don't celebrate Christmas, Halloween, thanks giving, happy fourth of July, in Malaysia, we only celebrate Hari Raya, Chinese new year/ lunar new year, Malaysia day, kids day, teachers day, mother's/father's day, and more that I can't even remember. So please don't do that, it can be VERY embarrassing.

In Malaysia, showing dislike for any kind of food is rude regardless of the cuisine. From personal experience, I always get scolded for scrunching my face when eating food I don't like. I don't know why it's such a taboo to dislike something.

Hi! This is my first time seeing this youtube channel.I am always ready to watch Malaysian-about videos! ;D I am Muslim and Im from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. You missed ONE MORE THING 7 : Don't eat in front of Muslims and Peoples When its "Bulan Puasa" Its where you fast And DONT EAT until its evening. It is "Fasting Month" and i probably would say that it would be more nice and appropriate if you eat when its evening. Because in our country,Fasting ends when its evening and they eat Kurma which i cant eat bc i dont like it very much😂 (Im 9 years old) And of course you can eat but i probably would eat queitly and not Very secretly but just dont eat too open..It makes people hungry and can't resist. And also Yes,Of course you can buy foods anytime and even before evening.People in malaysian sometimes often buys food before its Evening (Before its time to eat after Fasting basically) And eat it when its time. For me,sometimes i cant resist so i eat for two days and more.Because its not really like " YOU SHOULD FAST IF YOU ARE MUSLIM,EVEN A KID" I mean of course you should and could because other people are fasting too and its disrespectful to just openly eating food in front of them. But as kids,we can skip of course sometimes but we dont skip always or every day! It's not good to visit relatives, parents, friends with bare hands (eg like no gifts or foods) 2.Malaysia is not a place where you could wear clothes which exposes the stomach or even a bikini 3.Wear good clothes when visiting religious places like the mosque or temple Wearing shorts or like normal tshirt is showing that you are rude at the religious place 4. Never flex at Malaysia The risk of your belongings to get stolen are very high at here especially at night 5. If your walking home It's best to walk with your friends or walk where there is more people so that if anything bad happens to you there will be witnesses So far thats what I know

Do not decline when offered food. This is especially true when you visit or are invited to someone's home. If you dont feel like eating it for whatever reason, just take it with you to go (local say 'tapau') and throw it away once you've left the vicinity. You are not obligated to return the gesture. However, similar to western culture BYOB but rather instead of beer or wine, you could buy some fruits (or some of those local roadside stall snacks like the banana fritter) as a show of gratitude for the host.

You can actually read the clouds if the rains are coming. When the clouds above you gets pretty dark-ish. Its definitely coming in the next 5-10 minutes (depending on the color, the lighter it is, the likelihood of it coming is lesser). Dark clouds don't linger around you here like other countries. If no sign of rain is coming, it should be clear blue skies and sunny hot weather.

Another ex Malaysian here being a fan of your channel. Why only 3 videos of your stay in Malaysia? It’s been more than 20 years since I left, but generally, your tips sound right. When ask people (Malaysian) for their names, you may also wanna ask for their preferred or exact names. Avoid from just call them with their last names. For Malay Bumiputra, the last name is usually the Dad's name. Chinese names can be three words, but u can ask for their maiden names. Indian names can be found quite long, but they always simplify or abbreviate their name into short names. (Formal situation) Just ask the name they usually tell the cashier at Starbucks to be written on their cups. (Informal situation) Don't just call by last name.

Not entirely true. Jalan alor offers some really good food, but the problem with tourists is when they have no idea about what they are eating...I would advise tourists to do a bit of homework on what foods we have here and what goes into the recipes. 90% of tourists know nothing except Satay, rendang and Nasi Lemak. And one more thing. do not assume that every snack that is green is made with pandan leaves...sometimes its just food colouring.

Generally it's disrespectful/rude to decline food offered by a host, unless due to one's religious or health-related restrictions.
Good to know! Thanks for the comment.

Little tips
In Malaysia, when you mentioned the umbrella, YES you should always carry an umbrella around cause you can't trust the rain, when it rain once and it stops raining, it will start raining the second time, it's pretty annoying, but it can be relaxing.
Tip two,
NEVER use your left hand, especially when your eating, only use it when your cleaning up after your going to the bathroom, use your right hand instead.
Tip three
If it's your first time being in Malaysia, please, try to get used to eating with your hands, it's okay if you do want to, but it will consider to show respect. And don't be embarrassed about it.
Tip four
No cursing, if you want to, do it somewhere else, not in public, it can be very embarrassing.
Tip five
No drugs or alcohol, yes you can smoke there, but don't do it when you see a sign saying, no smoking.
Tip six
Don't wear clothes that is reveling, it's disrespectful and disgusting to others who are Muslim, wear jeans, sweaters, etc but just no reveling clothes.
Tip seven
Don't celebrate Christmas, Halloween, thanks giving, happy fourth of July, in Malaysia, we only celebrate Hari Raya, Chinese new year/ lunar new year, Malaysia day, kids day, teachers day, mother's/father's day, and more that I can't even remember. And of course you can eat but i probably would eat queitly and not Very secretly but just dont eat too open..It makes people hungry and can't resist. And also Yes,Of course you can buy foods anytime and even before evening.People in malaysian sometimes often buys food before its Evening (Before its time to eat after Fasting basically)
And eat it when its time. For me,sometimes i cant resist so i eat for two days and more.Because its not really like " YOU SHOULD FAST IF YOU ARE MUSLIM,EVEN A KID"
I mean of course you should and could because other people are fasting too and its disrespectful to just openly eating food in front of them. But as kids,we can skip of course sometimes but we dont skip always or every day! Thats all i have to tell you! THANKS FOR READING THIS EVEN IF IT LONGER THAN YOUR HOMEWORK

I'm a Muslim from India and I'm really looking forward to visit Malaysia one day inshallah
It's one of my favorite places.
I’m from Kuala Lumpur but residing (working) in Qatar for now. So proud of being a Malaysian when I found your video. Thank you!

30 And A Wake Up Sama sama..I will, of course! Stay safe..
I know some
1. It's not good to visit relatives, parents, friends with bare hands (eg like no gifts or foods)
2.Malaysia is not a place where you could wear clothes which exposes the stomach or even a bikini
3.Wear good clothes when visiting religious places like the mosque or temple
Wearing shorts or like normal tshirt is showing that you are rude
at the religious place
4. Never flex at Malaysia
The risk of your belongings to get stolen are very high at here especially at night
5. If your walking home
It's best to walk with your friends or walk where there is more people so that if anything bad happens to you there will be witnesses
So far thats what I know
Good advice. Thanks for commenting.
my fam dont do the no 1 cause we are lazy😂😂😂 literally all my fam is
Using grab car rather than taxi, the best solution
@@amirsyaraf5389 Yeah..that's a good one!
In Hawaii, the "no shoes(or slippers) in the house", is a cultural standard also. I believe that was adopted from Asian cultures there.
Yes ma'am! I lived in Hawaii for almost 20 years! :)
@@30AndAWakeUp Cool. You should do one about Hawaii, which many people I've met, while growing up ,thought was not part of the U.S. or was only a territory. Americans don't know much about Geography, but are getting better because of the Internet.
I would never decline food! Thanks for the comment! :)

For ladies, don't simply walk with your bags hanged over right shoulder while walking along the left hand traffic direction. Enable easy target by snatch thief from behind. Happened few times in front of me.
And do not simply leave your phone or wallet on the table while chilling at local restaurants. Somebody might snatch them.
Thanks for the advice!
True. These criminals, grabbers (addendum: snatchers ek3x), they do kill their victims by dragging them to the ground head first or chopped victims hands or fingers with parang (machette like)
@@Mister_Ri_MFBMT yeah exactly, we also know that there were British or Australian woman fell into coma because of snatch thief.
@@HotRod16 It's sad aint it?
@@Mister_Ri_MFBMTyes, hope this can be avoided. Other than that, Malaysia is beautiful.
I am a kid from Brunei that travel to Malaysia fifth a year
Very cool. What is your favorite part of Malaysia? Thanks for commenting!
Is it Limbang? That's nearby.
My aunt lives in brunei and i go there often. I love staying in the empire hotel
But you can bring durian into my house 😂
haha....good to know!!! Thanks for commenting!
My home too..
Sometime it depend on the host..if he/she love durian..then never mind to bring it.. but if you go to kampung houses..they put the durians in the mini hut in front/back of the house..so we can enjoy eating durians without mess the entire house..
Me too
Ha3
I am going to use your comment in my next Malaysia video!

It's okay to walk in the rain and get soaked. But never run in the rain.. it's even more dangerous if you slipped on the slippery floor. Rain won't kill you, that careless slip will.
Good point! Thanks for the comment!
You can always bring durian in my home and I’ll buy more so we can have durian feast
haha..i keep hearing that!
Thanks ❤️From Malaysia 🇲🇾.Always Support.
Thank you too!
Another ex Malaysian here being a fan of your channel. Why only 3 videos of your stay in Malaysia? It’s been more than 20 years since I left, but generally, your tips sound right. If you’ve been to public toilets in malaysia, you’d totally get why we do not wear outside shoes in the house. I do not allow outside shoes in the house here either (US). You can get a girl out of Malaysia, but you can’t get the Malaysian out of her. Well, hope you get to return to Malaysia and make more videos on Malaysia when the border opens.
Haha...I love it! Yes, Ill head back to Malaysia & I need to do more vids from Malaysia.

(Formal situation)
Just ask the name they usually tell the cashier at Starbucks to be written on their cups. (Informal situation)
Don't just call by last name.

Truee.. You just can't bring durian into hospital, government office & hotel but you allowed to bring durian when visiting friends
Avoid Jalan Alor.
Its a tourist trap.
The food they offered are expensive and not that delicious.
Thanks for the advice and commenting.
Even though its a tourist trap, it is still bargain for tourist due to the currency exchange.
Yes ur right ... Go to Kg Baru ... Jasa baru betul😘
I live in south west malaysia and the part of malaysia where i live is sort of a free country ... the people are nice but some are nasty and thats where my mom will get wild and argue back 😂 but I don’t like the fact that Malaysian only has raining season and summer thats all there is to experience in the seasons but at least its a comforting place to live in although its not the most enticing place to live in but i do hope you enjoyed your experience !

Awesome! What part of Malaysia do you live in?
30 And A Wake Up I live in KL BTW BIG FAN👸🏻
I live In Malaysia and for me I can bring durian in my house. But not allowed on other places but it is allowed if you get permissions. And yes, I don't bring umbrella usually. But if it is like nearly 11 month, I would bring every day because 11 and 12 month, raining is like almost every day. 🇲🇾Malaysia's weather is not easy to think weather if it is raining or not. When it is day and everything is normal, it can rain any second. Point is, you can't confirm the weather in 🇲🇾Malaysia.
