i practice traditional myself but i enjoy watching good creative use of the weapons. although we are practicing two very different arts they are both arts and deserve respect expecially when preformed well like this. great display and good techniques😊
as far as I know, the nunchuka was a tool to click to sticks together to make a call for dinner time or end or beginning of whatever session. The cord was to keep the two sticks from getting separated. In times of great despair things were produced as weapon and as you can imagine a whole assortment of technique. The answer to your question is yes and no, you see it depends on how you control the instrument. It is extremely effective as a weapon and basically a silent killer.
Hi, firstly I'm from Hong Kong and I have been playing nunchaku for 4 years. I just want to share some of my nunchaku preforming experience to both of you guys. First, it would be great if you use more of your waist when performing with one hand. Second, when playing with two nunchaku, practice more same skill at a time. Third, nunchaku not only use our hands, but also our whole body. Use more steps play doing different style of skills. For people who like nunchaku, hope my info are useful!
you make a light twist with your wrist at the moment of impact, the bounce of the impact, will follow your wrist movement, making it able to continue the flow of your nunchaku without losing the speed of the nunchaku;s momentum, this makes it able to do multiple 'safe' strikes and go back into defensive movement without losing any speed or power.
You can catch or block a sword, staff, spear or pole-axe with it. You can carry them relatively easily. They're easy to produce in large quantities. The only hard part is that the training and the fact that it's relatively easy to hurt yourself more than your opponent with said device.
There are really great nunchaku masters out there but some people don't fully realise how dangerous they are the few that do know are skilled with the knowledge those who don't are imbisiles and will be afraid to hold one. I'm not saying that to everyone. But there are people who I met have been afraid of hurting themselves. This is a great video like the music. Don't hate nobody is the same.
Can someone please enlighten me? I'm not sure of the inteligence in design of Nunchaku. If you srtike someone wont the end just bounce off and hit your own hand? Or is there a way to use them to avoid this?
regarding the nunchaku strike. If you swing through and follow the motion to the end the nunchaku will not bounce off your head it will just continue with my swing.
It'll be so awesome to do this from a safe distance away from your opponent in order to impress the opponent before a good pwning. It's useful in combat, it distracts the opponent, makes you seem incapable of actual combat for skeptics which gives you the element of surprise, distracts the idiots, scares the easily frightened, and amuses the easily amused. it looks cool, impresses girlfriends, friends, families, and even bosses.
If your guiding hand continues through the arc of attack smoothly, the free chuk end will hit the target, start to bounce back, but be dragged along in the wake of your hand as the chain pulls taut again, back into the spin. But to be honest, most attacks from nun-chaku will be delivered from a stall position. And yes, they work in real life. I had a guy pull a knife on me and a second later he had a broken wrist. Two seconds, no teeth. At four seconds he hit the ground with a fractured knee.
Yea there is a way to avoid it bouncing, Fully extend your arm when making contact. The design is flawless imo, they are illegal in my country for the reason that they can fit in your pocket yet when you are using them they have a huge range of effect. I keep them in my truck for those people who get road rage. Just hang them out the window. Id have these over my knife anyday.
I thought they just used anything. Triple section staffs, nunchaku, etc... A lot of the weapons use recurring themes. Chains, ropes, sticks and pieces of metal-- all relatively easy to get hold of. Swords and fancy axe heads-- not so much.
Realistic? No. This is competition trick nanchaku. The sticks are light weight aluminum with flashy graphics specifically designed to catch the light and sparkle. But I can appreciate the martial beauty of the performance. It did take lots of practice and concentration and coordination. I just like the coolness effect. It's a really cool performance.
wonder how this would look in a fight, surely once you hit them the numchuck is going to deflect off your opponant and mess up your whole flashy routine :P
I wish this video kept the original audio, instead of the stupid unrelated music. Imagine my surprise when I noticed the song is called "Enjoy the Silence", which is exactly what I did.
I've had a pair of octagonal oak nunchaku for a long time. Almost knocked myself out a few times. It's certainly motivational to get better so as to avoid whacking your head or elbows. Solid oak is much harder than your body.
I love the "all I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here in my hands" while he's holding nunchucks. XD
great performance and awesome co-ordination.
I have great respect and admiration for the hard work and dedication that goes into learning any art. Fantastic technique!
Get this guy in a turtle suit, and a pizza!

Ya has pasado 4 años, lo lograste?
6 años, lo lograste?

I take my words back have not seen the complete video
Anberlin. Song name is: Enjoy the silence. A cover of the 80's song by Depeche Mode.
Muito show !! Parabéns 👍👍👍👍👍

those crazy moves at 3:27 together with his lethal face on 3:47 scares me SOO much more than his deadly chaku!!

Gdyby Bruce Lee żył,ten gość zarobiłby krocie. Szacunek wielki.

what's the name of the first song please? (i dont remember). BTW gorgeous athletes
when using as a weapon little show technique is necessary, just a two handed swing to any part of your body will cause sever damage.
This inspires me to be better than I am.
simplemente espectacular!!!
the original song is enjoy the silence by depeche mode

lol that kick at 4:45 was so cheesy. The second guy looks like he's dancing the friggin cha cha
All I think about when I see this is Nick Diaz taking giant bong rips.
I wish this video kept the original audio, instead of the stupid unrelated music.
Imagine my surprise when I noticed the song is called "Enjoy the Silence", which is exactly what I did.
Wow, i like this video
wicked I wish I could do that
Catch my like !
Thumbnail looks like Jim Carrey.
The nanchuku he has are light weights - lets see him do it with real solid oak or hickory models from japan
I've had a pair of octagonal oak nunchaku for a long time. Almost knocked myself out a few times. It's certainly motivational to get better so as to avoid whacking your head or elbows. Solid oak is much harder than your body.
I liked it too xP... AJ Mclean- What If n_n enjoy!
Choke Hold, game over.
yeah ok they can swing some pretty sticks but I saw the dude in red cry when a girl slapped him after trying to get her digits
and thats how u block 1000 arrows flying at you
Thanks.
Bravo..
Um we have something called FIREARMS now, which makes Nunchaku as far as combat is concerned obsolete....
