As a lifelong Bulldog fan and graduate of Fresno State, it warms my heart to see Derek Carr and Davante Adams back together again in the NFL. I was at this game and it was a treat to watch these guys play live. Looking back on this squad, it's easy to see that Derek was the Head Coach, OC, and QB for this team. Tim DeRuyter was the definition of a "fake it till you make it" coach, riding the coattails of Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr. He did absolutely nothing, but sit back and cash his checks. After Derek and company left, this team went on a downward spiral because DeRuyter had to actually coach for once and everyone saw right through him.

@@joshdh46 He was the DC and then became the interim head coach for their bowl game against Northwestern after Mike Sherman got fired.
DeRuyter is also the dummy who passed on a kid who deeply wanted to play for Fresno State but DeRuyter said pass. The kid's name was Josh Allen.

To actually think Marcus was the #1 qb prospect in 2013 and 7 years later Marcus backs up Carr on the raiders
Marcus is on the Falcons, and was a different draft year from Carr.

Folks really don't understand how dominant that team was. We lost in San Jose with Carr throwing like 6 TD's total and Davante catching I believe 3 TD's...in the first quarter. 52 points and still lost because the defense basically quit functioning, something that followed DC to the NFL. 24 receiving TD's and 50 TD passes...they were NCAA Football '14 stats in real life. As a Fresno State alumnus who saw David and then Derek...they were a joy to watch.

Derek Carr does have a underrated trait to make receivers look good. Burse, Harper, Crabtree, Agholor, Zay Jones, etc. I would say Waller but wallers become a beast on his own so respect. I also respect the kicker for missing on purpose for that 69 score tho
Seth Roberts, Johnny Holton, Hunter Renfrow also grew a lot of confidence playing with Carr. Had to mention them too.

Yup. Carr is our franchise leader in every qb statistic for a reason. All the terrible moves made in the past are on the front office. Hopefully with the Adams trade it will pay off and the new regime things will finally stay consistent.

I’m from Fresno I remember going to to watch them that whole season because it was one of the few times Fresno state was ranked in the top 25 considering it’s a small college . They ended up winning the mountain west conference against Utah st .

I vividly remember Carr and Adam's play in college. Somehow I tuned in and asked myself why do I watch this team play when it's all about SEC. Damn good football my eyes could not deny.

Teams will let players go for tons of reason. It shows that they like him as their qb and are sticking with him and that he likes the team to where he isn't tryna leave anytime soon and that means a lot. Well maybe not to u but it does to the fans, the raiders organization, and to Derek Carr himself. U gotta be able to see the beauty in these things. Not too many QBs be on a team for 7+ years

When Carr and Adams arrive with new head coach, they brought new light for Fresno State Bulldogs after long time. My second older brother took me to watch one of their home game and my god they were dominating. Wish my second older brother should took me to watch when they play against arch rival Boise State Broncos that game was crazy in a highest score game and Fresno State won by touchdown but he forgot about me and didn't took me to watch it, I was piss at him. He always love his college team even keep on touch everytime even today and he went to college there too.
That "new head coach" was after they both arrived, and was the demise of the program.

And to think Carr was drafted in the second round, and Manziel was picked in the first round...SMH. Manziel was all hype or as Texans would say, "All hat and no cattle." I thought Carr and Bridgewater were the best QB's in that class. (One of my mock drafts had the Jaguars drafting Carr at 3. But they reached big-time in drafting Blake Bortles, a career backup.) The AFC West is going to be VERY entertaining next season!
I’m still baffled Manziel was drafted in the first round. I don’t remember anyone thinking his game would translate to the pros at all.

I remember telling friends that this guy was going to be a COLOSSAL bust, and whoever drafted him was going to wind up with a headache (and head case) on their hands. Being a Fresno State alum and fan, I saw Carr on a regular basis and knew he had the maturity and leadership necessary to be the face of the franchise from Day 1. I'm even MORE baffled that Blake Bortles was drafted THIRD OVERALL. He was decent but not great in college. He was drafted two rounds too early.

I went to the University of Nevada, I was a Freshman during their last season together, I had to watch this bullshit in person. The crazy thing was it wasn’t just Adams, any Fresno State fan will remember Josh Harper, who was also on this squad and put up monster numbers too.
Bruh Burse also had a 1000 yards that year and he’s still the all purpose leader. All 3 of the receivers had a good year that year. You seen they all had over 100 yards in that game.

Fresno State being a West Coast team it was somewhat difficult trying to follow and or watch any of their games while living on the East Coast/Florida but as we look back it was an incredible TRIO' of receivers for Derek
