- Lisa Gade reviews the Nokia Lumia 735 Windows phone. The Lumia 735 has a 4.7” 1280 x 720 ClearBlack AMOLED display (316 PPI) clad in Gorilla Glass 3. The phone’s colorful polycarbonate body is actually a removable shell that grants access to the 2220 mAh removable battery, nano SIM card slot and microSD card slot. The smartphone runs Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia Denim on the 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad core CPU with Adreno 305 graphics, 1 gig of RAM and 8 gigs of storage. It has a 5MP selfie front wide angle camera and a rear 6.7MP camera that can shoot 1080p video. It has single band WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and a GPS. It will be available in the US, but we don’t know which carriers will offer it yet. Overseas it sells for approx. $300 full retail.
Your videos really are great. I am a google guy but you are the only reviewer I know of who reviews pretty much everything. Nice to see what the other operating systems are bringing to the table. And again, thank you and keep up the good work.
I've had time to use a Lumia 735 myself, and I gotta agree... have a soft spot for that phone. It's not the fastest and the cameras aren't spectacular, but it's so well balanced for the money. Worth it if you don't like the low- to mid-range Android options.

3 years later, I'm still use this phone! I also travel the world and swap phone cards all of time. I absolutely love it and wish Windows Phone would have made it bigger. I have used IOS, and Android....I'm sorry but Windows Phone had the best OS...their marketing just was not good. Maybe Windows surface phone will be good....but the apps are definitely lacking.

Sorry Lisa, the rear camera is amazing, the problem is the basic camera app that comes with the phone doesn't get good pictures. Make sure to buy the $2 ProShot Classic app from the store, that's how you get much more beautiful pictures than with the Lumia basic app. What's killing the 730 is taking videos: terribly shaky no matter what. So if you are into taking videos, this is not your phone. But if you are into taking pictures, this is one of a kind phone. Also, it has great ear piece sound, great microphone, good battery, beautiful looking screen (the screen touch works not so great, it scratches really easily and has issues with the auto dimming function). Pleasant and light to keep in hand - you absolutely need a silicon cover because the battery case is slippery like a soap bar.

My daughter has lumia 920 and these phones ever have issues from what I noticed my daughter has use Nokia lumia phones last 4 years pretty good product if you only search Web,play music or social media this phone or any mid range phone will serve it's purpose. Lisa, Hey Cortana is supposed to work as long as the screen is already on. The 800 or newer is if your screen is OFF and it is always listening.
according to directions for removal of back cover.
press center of back cover with thumb then pry cover off top right side.
no need to dig around the sides witch could crack glass or mar case finish

bought the 735 a few months back now, at a reasonable 225euros aswell at a local store.
I'm very happy with this new platform and even more so with batterylife...atleast when you pay attention on your use of settings etc.
For me personally, I find the selfie-cam unnessesary, but ok they had to go with the hype ofcourse. Too bad though the quality of it has serious let downs, so you'll end up still using the normal cam for greater shots.
Another thing i wasn't so happy about is the fact the office-package isn't free of charge..so ended up buying aswell after a month.
For everything else, I'm very happy with it anf if the battery keeps holding on, I hope to use it for several years.
I came from a Nokia E7, which is still working actually, but the cameralens was broken after years of abuse...so I truely hope this Lumia will stand the test of time equally 😉

It sells for around $279-299 in AU and the EU, I have no idea what importers sell it for.

Am using L730 same as L735 only diff is L735 has Lte support apart from everything is same on both the devices. its been more than a year am using it not even a single problem. And now am waiting for windows 10 update.

I really want this one. However, I'm on Tmobile and I'm not sure the International edition will support the right bands. I'm not sure the Verizon version will work on Tmobile network either.
Hell NO! Never buy Windows Phone from Verizon. They still haven't updated their old phones to 8.1

The RM-1039 works well on T-Mobile. I get LTE speeds right out of the box. Works with T-Mobile 1900MHz 2G, 1700MHz/1900MHz 3G, Band4-1700MHz/Band2-1900MHz 4G LTE. Great phone!
Steve Yuan The 640XL might be nice for you and the 830 model. Verizon all we get now days on their online store is the 735 and HTC M8. The Icon is still available on Amazon, but sadly not at the Verizon online store.
Steve Yuan Get a 930, it has the 800 Chip and you need a Snapdragon 800 or newer to get HEY CORTANA working when the screen is off. Windows 10 looks awesome on a 930/Icon. I waited too long, Amazon no longer sells any brand new ICON phones for us Verizon customers.

Hi... I am using lumia 730. I had earlier installed windows 10 technical preview in it. Since it was having bugs i again switched back to windows 8.1 update. But after the update my device is not working smooth as it is to work earlier. What should i do now ? Should i wait for windows 10 official update or should i again try to update windows 8.1 ?

Jay Litten Yes and no. You have an option in Cortana's settings to make her only listen and activate when you are either at Lock Screen or anywhere on your phone while the phone is unlocked, I personally have her listen at all times in case I'm in bed or my hands are wet.
It's kind of like how different phone manufacturers on Android don't allow you the option to use Google Now with the phone screen off, some do. Only in Windows Phone's case it's entirely optional.

It's a great phone and my only problem is that it does feel very sluggish at times, not too much of a big deal but everything else is pretty neat. The games play well, but could be better. The camera is actually really good for a 6.7mp, and the front camera is really amazing. Cant forget about that beautiful OLED display, that shit made me squirt. So yes, it's worth it, get it if you're interested because it really doesn't disappoint.

Since Windows has its own app store, does anyone know if you are able to download Kik, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter?. A big part of my life is social media and I don't want to buy this phone if you can't download those apps :)
Nathan Salva Yes. Kik, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter are all available. However, Instagram and Twitter definitely don't look nor 'feel' as good as they do on iOS or Android, but they're not horrible.

Truly the smoothest and most efficient mobile OS I've seen. Simple, sleek, straightforward.
And this is coming from an Android guy. They should open their minds a bit and give WP a try.
RusticKey I admit, I am intrigued, and with the Lumia 635 so darn cheap right now it's a pretty much risk-free chance to try out the OS without a serious $500-plus investment, and if I like it, maybe put away some cash for a more capable Lumia device.
My big issue would be the loss of certain capabilities as I currently use a Nexus 4 that's rooted and heavily customized to do all sorts of things outside the normal "phone" sphere.
But now that Bay Trail x86 Windows 8.1 tablets are also so cheap, I may not _need_ my phone to be a small computer any more, when I can get an even better (at least from a software compatibility standpoint) computer for a few hundred bucks that's still compact enough to carry in a small purse.
Corinn Heathers Of course, yes, there _will_ be quite a bit of features "lost" considering WP8 is aimed to be simple and minimalistic. It's in my opinion a more go-to OS for the less tech savvy person.
However another plus from it being so lightweight is that even a $300 WP can run it perfectly fine and smooth. Of course there'd still be lag on demanding games.
The rise of those ultra-affordable fully-fledged Windows 8.1 tablets are extremely interesting and I can't wait to see how it turns out. The era of mobile is developing faster than I thought. I'm seriously considering in buying those tablets.

Sonu03785 screen quality is bad... touch feeling is bad....managing multiple tabs in explorer is awkward....absense of google apps....slow processing...bad battery capacity...gets too hot while using...cheap plastic feeling..no LED light...refresh page automatically everytime.....windows phone is almost useless...
