  • At a time when energy keeps going up, the last thing we need is to lose heating and cooling energy from our large buildings. There are large buildings everywhere and they have significant forces acting on them in the way of stack effect, reverse stack effect, wind and HVAC imbalances. All of these effect can also feed on each other. The benefits of air tightness are very difficult to model because of these complexities, but what's critical, is that air tightness can make everything a lot more predictable. From energy use to commissioning of stair pressurization systems, and other mechanical systems.

Blower door testing and air sealing are an under appreciated technology.
It is a great way to reduce energy consumption and utility expense for heating and cooling.

Every single building should have to have this done, its crazy the building code here in Australia that this isn't the standard.

It's required in Norway, by law.
I reckon most builders in Australia wouldn't even be able to explain these concepts. Care factor: Zero.
Edit: In every single new building that is built, residential and commercial. There are standards that must be met. It's illegal not to meet them, with evidence.

An energy efficient home or business is more comfortable and saves money in the long run.
Solar energy on your roof combined with battery storage can make people more independent from the grid and natural gas supplies. Add solar and supplemental electric heating, infrared heating or a heat pump for home or business heating..
All big box stores and manufacturing sites can support solar energy on their roofs or parking lots.
Added insulation, double or triple glaze windows, energy efficient doors, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, energy efficient appliances, LED lighting, smart thermostats, solar panels combined with battery storage and a electric vehicle charger in the garage or car park. People are too focused on the short term costs and miss out on long term savings and comfort. Blower door testing and air sealing are under appreciated tools.Even if you have money to burn you should not waste it. Climate Change will impact everyone. Leave a better future for your children and grandchildren. Join in and speak up for the future of the planet

Ah so the volume of air a fan puts out is calculated indirectly by the amount of electricity, the number of amps per hr it’s using. Correct?
