An interesting vid. However, as expected with Sky news it picks and chooses who it interviews to try to push the narrative that UC will put people into work. What when there are not enough jobs?
Universal credit isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that people cannot manage their money correctly that is putting them into this situation in the first place
Rents should be paid by the Gov straight to landlords and food vouchers to claimants ,then there will not be homeless on streets or anyone starving. Why not clear waste ground and put mobile homes on them and let people stay there for period of time, untill they have got work and other accomadation.seperate areas for families and single males/females.
The benefits system is a huge drain on the tax payers purse,it’s not the claimants of benefits who are to blame for the drag on our economy it’s the government for handling out free money.
That's exactly what I was wondering. Literally can't figure out how adults are blaming the government and community for their unwillingness to manage funds. I can't figure it out . Like they don't want us to treat them like adults or something.
None of these people are true adults. They look to everyone else for their livelihoods, but never themselves. Obviously the concept of personal responsibility, self sufficiency nor tenacity exists in the UK:
It sucks that people need benefits to begin with because it is not the government paying them, it is the taxpayer. However, it is a reality, like it or not. If some help is not offered society falls apart and it will be crappy for everyone. Pay the benefits biweekly, pay the rent portion directly to the landlord. Something has to change because if all that money is being paid out for universal credit but people are still needing food banks and becoming homeless, then what was the point of that money in the first place? It is obvious a wee bit of government babysitting is needed to ensure that benefits go where it is suppose to, and that is largely housing. Why can’t the government just acknowledge this?
I think universal credit is a good idea, most workers get paid monthly but the problem is, once people are switched from one benefit they should be helped faster than the time its taking now...... Think the targets for sanctions is awful and I'm tired we keep allowing other nations in for work meant for British people and by British I don't mean Mohammad who managed to get a passport after 6 months
This is maddness as on one side weaker individuals need a dose of help but parasitical leaches need a kick. The system is not helping anyone so how would this work.
It’s disgusting as people should have human basic needs I’m sure we all pay enough tax to support this basic needs rule Our tax pays into everything this should be included 🌸
it's about time government stop thinking about brexit, and feed poor instead,..my opinion how can we be born independent, millionaires, got 5 mansion,s ...when homeless got one or none ,it doesn't mek any sence
The UK is going bankrupt. Just like a business that cannot pay its creditors and has to change its payment terms, it is clear that changing from fortnightly to monthly payments is a sure sign that the government is cash-poor. And budgeting advice does not fill empty stomachs.
The last time I was on UC, I felt very... unwelcome. The staff are constantly on the defensive, expecting the worst from people. I think people deserve to live comfortably with UC. Here's where things tip in the vein of an opinion that will probably ruffle some feathers... I also saw claimants with the latest Phones, expensive kind, iPhones and the like... as well as bags of clothes from River Island. Brand New Clothes. During my period of unemployment, I made it my mission to shop as cheaply as I could. I almost turned to food banks but thankfully I have very good friends.
It was said that in the end times that this would happen and we can see what jesus has said is all coming true . All these wars and faming and poverty and many many more.
I'm on universal credit, I have a brain tumour and I forget quite a lot, leaving meals forgetting I left them in the microwave, I have been waiting nearly a year now for my appeal for esa,,, I ran out of money and called universal credit to see if they could help with a payment, they said what do I need the money for, I said food, they said they don't issue payments for food only white goods and I would have to visit a food bank, they know I'm not well, they don't give a toss, so on this occasion I told them I needed a fridge and they give me the money this system is stupid
How many people on UC though, are buying huge TVs, smoking and drinking these things are expensive. Then complain they have nothing. It’s a similar situation with younger house buyers, who are out clubbing and not saving up for a deposit!
the government tries to teach people how to manage their money, the same way they would if they were working. Those who spend it all on day one and are complaining afterwards should learn from this and be grateful they receive anything at all.

Is benefits in the UK the same as welfare in the US??? Single men can't get no help in the US ..
Yes
Jesus Hernandez yes single men come off the worse in the uk
110% true, Single men will/Do not get no help in the US
Jesus Hernandez single men in UK can claim benefits and rent!
Irene Davo I wish someone will help pay my rent ... I have to work 60 hrs a week 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤧🤧🤧🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bullshit
Universal credit is definitely the problem.
Universal credit is the problem.
@@margaretfrost8620 yes and we can put them in ragged sack cloth 😂😂😂
These people spend their money on drugs and drinks. Why should I be paying for these people with my taxes??? They should be in REHAB
Your taxes also fund illegal wars in the middle east

The benefits system is a huge drain on the tax payers purse,it’s not the claimants of benefits who are to blame for the drag on our economy it’s the government for handling out free money.
Duncan " arbeit macht frei " Smith.
Gordon Bradley WAS! Arbeit for the professional Arbeitslosen Britain. Aber ich bitte Sie.!
My only comment would be let the people that make these rules, live by them for six months, and see how they get on.
GDP growth is preservation and not feeding uncertainties of poverty and making many poverty stricken.
If a person is bad with money, why do they blame the government?
Am I missing something here?
That's exactly what I was wondering. Literally can't figure out how adults are blaming the government and community for their unwillingness to manage funds. I can't figure it out . Like they don't want us to treat them like adults or something.
Because they're used to being taken care of their entire lives.
None of these people are true adults.
They look to everyone else for their livelihoods, but never themselves.
Obviously the concept of personal responsibility, self sufficiency nor tenacity exists in the UK:
The uks favourite word benefits
Uncontrolled immigration of unskilled and usually fake asylum

problem . It's the root of all the others!
This is maddness as on one side weaker individuals need a dose of help but parasitical leaches need a kick. The system is not helping anyone so how would this work.
Northern Ireland costs the UK 11 billion every year
Northern Ireland is part of Britain I feel it's unfair to single out one part of the uk
Wow
Pay landlord first and half of your problems are off
It’s disgusting as people should have human basic needs I’m sure we all pay enough tax to support this basic needs rule
Our tax pays into everything this should be included 🌸
it's about time government stop thinking about brexit, and feed poor instead,..my opinion how can we be born independent, millionaires, got 5 mansion,s ...when homeless got one or none ,it doesn't mek any sence
This Tory government is insane, as are the bulk of the electorate.
So sad that this is happening in the uk... I hope norway never ever do this.. that being said there are way to many give up people out there
It do, and have been doing it for decades .
I belive its called "social assistance" there
Because of "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME/Fibromyalgia I often need a P/Time 'domestic assistant' here in Hull.... :)
A job is the last thing these people want no shame
The UK is going bankrupt. Just like a business that cannot pay its creditors and has to change its payment terms, it is clear that changing from fortnightly to monthly payments is a sure sign that the government is cash-poor. And budgeting advice does not fill empty stomachs.
Or empty beer bottles and empty crack pipes
Record number of job vacancies !!
Don't suppose that would be of any interest though ? Means getting out of bed in the morning..?
Universal credit should be abolished.
My experience with the people from universal credit has been positive the have been very friendly and supportive
It was said that in the end times that this would happen and we can see what jesus has said is all coming true . All these wars and faming and poverty and many many more.
Bullshit
I'm on universal credit, I have a brain tumour and I forget quite a lot, leaving meals forgetting I left them in the microwave, I have been waiting nearly a year now for my appeal for esa,,, I ran out of money and called universal credit to see if they could help with a payment, they said what do I need the money for, I said food, they said they don't issue payments for food only white goods and I would have to visit a food bank, they know I'm not well, they don't give a toss, so on this occasion I told them I needed a fridge and they give me the money this system is stupid
OUR LOCAL FOOD BANK OFFICE USED TO BE TORY MP 'S OFFICE . MORE USE NOW .
I don't like the term Britain on the breadline
Because it IS! And the reason it is is because of the TORIES!!!
They make it hard on universal credit so that people that can go out to work
A country ready to go bang
Thanks for voting for conservative party
How many people on UC though, are buying huge TVs, smoking and drinking these things are expensive. Then complain they have nothing. It’s a similar situation with younger house buyers, who are out clubbing and not saving up for a deposit!
the government tries to teach people how to manage their money, the same way they would if they were working. Those who spend it all on day one and are complaining afterwards should learn from this and be grateful they receive anything at all.
Agreed. Especially when that money is stolen from people who actually work.
This week thank u jesus I had a school food voucher 4 food waiting 4 my money 2 feed my 7 year old son I'm so great full now I'm worried about my ele meter bless all the people on here I help in a cancer Research charity shop every says Ur so happy even with problems I'm thinking about the people on here god bless u my son is such a good little boy
Why not go shopping once a week and still have money in bank? Some of them are a bit thick. Do not give alcies money!
What and leave them to rot, their people. An alcoholic or drug addict can't function without alcohol or drugs without withdrawing, which can be very dangerous if someone has other health problem including mental health problems. It's one thing to go for a drink, but to be driven to drink is quite another thing entirely.

Why has switching the benefit lessened the amount of money ppl are getting?
I voted for conservative before I get into universal credit, despite the fact my life had been difficult.
Then unfortunate events happen, i have to seek help and was adviced to apply for UC.
They did not explain things properly, I relied on their help, now, I am crying everyday coz the help they promised was not given. No money for rent. They should at least explain how this benefit/difficulty works.
Then I learned this was an idea of a tory MP. The old benefit way is better. I regret voting for them.
I rather work than rely on government, because they are unreliable.
