Knight Rider #1. Last words of Wilton Knight "One man can make a difference and you are going to be that man .My... adventure has ended. Yours has just - just begun. "
Don’t care what anyone says this scene is too powerful and poignant reminder that life is too short and you can make a difference wisest words ever from the creator of the coolest car ever made!
🙏🥺Chokes me up watching this scene 40 years later ,R I P Richard Basehart as Wilton knight and Edward Mulhare as Devon Miles ,Such a beautiful and poignant scene with a powerful message 🙏🥺
If only the series had had scenes and music like this on a regular basis, it wouldn’t have turned into such a cartoon. The pilot stands head-and-shoulders above most of the weekly episodes, with the first 2 years bearing the finer work.
I couldn't agree more. It had real drama, depth, and a touch of darkness nicely counterbalanced by KITT - and given a sense of reality by Mulhare. Also Hasselhoff was clearly a star.
This scene was key as to how Michael was to progress with KITT fulfilling Wilton's dream of working with the Foundation for Law and Government catching those who thought they where above the law proving that One Man Can really make a Difference.
Wilton Knight saying "My... adventure has ended." often makes me wish we could see some sort of prequel series or movie with young Wilton and young Devon. Would be awesome if they cast actors who resemble Richard Basehart and Edward Mulhare at younger ages (RIP to both actors)
"Mr. Knight, I'd like to be able to promise you... that I'd feel like I could take on the world some day, but I can't. I still wake up in the middle of the night, shaking... I remember that gun in my face and the whole world blowing up..." "Remember that moment. Think of it as your baptism by fire."
🥺💔🙏Has a certain Poignancy to this ,Watching this ,R I P Richard Basehart for his creator character Wilton Knight 🇺🇲🥺💔🙏R I P as part of the Greatest Generation 🇺🇲❤️
Brilliant scene with a brilliant actor. My wee noggin has it that Wilton knight and Harrison Nelson are related, not just because they're played by the same actor - they have a similar underlying drive.
If this scene is quite moving, I have, however, always found it a little curious or a not very good idea to have put the scene of the death of Wilton Knight at the beginning of the episode. In my opinion, it would have been better to include this scene at the end of this one, after Michael found Tanya and that this one is dead.
Well it would've seemed a rather depressing ending for the show's first episode. Viewers may have wondered at first if subsequent episodes would have similar endings. Better to give it a positive light-hearted ending so viewers would get hyped for the next episode.
Flashback to when Michael got shot in the face as Michael Long at the start of this pilot episode, where his face then underwent plastic surgery and became Michael Knight.
I want a nation of workers not thinkers Rockerfellor and Rittenhouse. Somebody needs to build a time machine and stop them like that TV series Timeless.

No Knight Rider fan can talk about the show without referencing this scene. It's synonymous with KITT & Michael.
Touching and class act scene...you must love Knight Rider after this.
It is the heart of the show.
After all these years, I only just realised Wilton Knight was played by the narrator! Wow! :-)
This is the greatest pilot in the history of television

The pilot episode had more emotional things to it. think of this scene. and think of how far they have come. kitt and michael
Michael was a reward that came too late to Wilton, at the end of a too hard life.
:'(
